    Holiday Cottages in Mousehole

Once donned 'the loveliest village in England' by poet Dylan Thomas, Mousehole (pronounced 'Mowzel') offers a quintessentially Cornish holiday break. Situated right on West Cornwall's South West Coast Path, the rollercoaster of rugged clifftop paths will suit dog owners and keen walkers. Meanwhile, Mousehole Harbour has to be one of the most beautiful in the county, with its smattering of colourful fishing boats, and narrow streets lined with white-washed cottages.

Our holiday homes in Mousehole, Cornwall, are ideally situated for a perfect seaside getaway. If you're looking for a romantic break, why not browse our snug lodges and stone-built cottages, and relax in your own private hot tub. Or if you're bringing your furry friend, our dog-friendly Mousehole cottages come complete with enclosed gardens and access to plenty of long walks along sandy beaches. From large family farmhouses to couples retreats, our Cornish holiday cottages cover it all.

The best thing about our Mousehole holiday cottages is that they all come with a best price guarantee, as well as special discounts and offers. We have availability throughout the year, so as well as enjoying Mousehole's balmy summer sea views, you can also experience a gorgeous Cornish Christmas. The multi-coloured Christmas lights that illuminate Mousehole's harbour wall are renowned for their gaudy elegance, and are well worth a winter seaside break.

    More locations in Cornwall

From the heart of Mousehole, it doesn't take long to reach some of Cornwall's most iconic locations. The spectacular Minack Theatre and rugged Lizard Point are two of our favourites, or you could try these holiday spots for a bit of variety.

What our customers say about their holidays

      Cannot fault the location.

Been coming to these cottages for years and in fact this exact location when it was railway camping coaches. It is our favourite place to holiday in Cornwall. We have noticed our cottage (Sail Boats) is getting a bit tired in places. Beading around the floor breaking up and coming away, gaps in flooring and skirting boards, marked paint, niggles really. On the flip side it is comfortable, warm has plenty of really hot water for showers, baths and good WIFI. It was a great place to be during the couple of cold, stormy days and nights we had during our stay. The management of the cottage is very good. The mattress on the bed was very bad for us for the first 3 days of our holiday. My wife constantly felt like she was falling out of it and it completely knackered my back. I would wake in the morning in agony and even with painkillers could not stand up straight until late afternoon. We lost 3 days of our week because of that. We called the holiday company and later that day a new deeper, firmer mattress was delivered and fitted. We were impressed with the response to our query and we slept well for the rest of the week. All in all this is a good place to stay. The costs of staying here in season are now prohibitive for us so we are more likely to visit last minute, out of season when the prices are more affordable.

The holiday home was perfectly situated for the beach and Marazion and we loved having the view of St Michael’s Mount each day!

The bungalow provided everything needed for a self catering holiday, including tea towels (not mentioned on the website) and a lovely Cornish welcome pack with milk, tea, coffee, biscuits and washing up liquid etc. On arrival everything was clean apart from the fridge which still had bits of food from the previous guests in it which meant I had to clean it before using. Also, the freezer door still does not close (mentioned on other reviews previously) as it is so frozen up (it was perfect for chilling beer bottles though!). There were quite a few maintenance issues which had to be lived with or ‘worked around’ e.g. vertical blinds in lounge have no string to open/close/turn; the catch on the bedroom window has previously been broken off so we could not open the window properly, the toilet seat was wonky, the shower seal didn’t work so there was always water on the floor afterwards…. Finally, the mattress on the bed really does need changing! It is so hard that we chose to buy a thick mattress topper on the second day to ensure a good night’s sleep for the rest of the holiday! (We took it with us!!!). These sound like a lot of problems but the location and price of the accommodation certainly eased our disappointment with the maintenance issues.

We have stayed in seven cottages marketed by Sykes in recent years and we think Walter has been the best.

It was an attractive, well-decorated building in an interesting part of Newlyn, accessed from a narrow lane (but with car park close by) and was well-equipped. The owners had generously provided us with some food and sufficient supplies of consumables such as washing up liquid, hand washing liquid, and toilet paper. The information pack was interesting, particularly on the history of the house – the current owners are the fifth generation of the family to own it. The cottage is close to the Coastal Path which passes the end of Church Street. We recommend the Hepworth Museum in St Ives, Trewidden Gardens, St Michael’s Mount, the Newlyn Village trail and the Newlyn Filmhouse. There are good local bus services including the Mousehole bus and the Coaster bus – those provide access to the Coastal Path. We did several sections using the bus links. There is a well-equipped Co-op a short walk away, open till late. The only downside of our holiday was mud – the Coastal path between Newlyn and Lamorna had some very muddy stretches because of all the rain.

      Stunning, comfortable cottage.

Loved it. So well-equipped and delightfully furnished and decorated. Wanted for nothing. Location great, we could walk to Newlyn town centre, supermarkets, pubs, Penzance and Mouseholes and there was a bus stop at the bottom of the hill. Walter is halfway up an incline but as we are very fit seniors, it was not a problem for us but for those with limited mobility, it could be. The only other downside was parking. There is a public carpark about 200 metres away and we bought a weekly parking permit. But if we went out in the car, we had to time our arrival home very carefully otherwise, we would not get a parking space. It was full all day and after 4.00 pm when it was free parking, it was almost impossible to get an overnight parking bay. A designated parking bay for the cottage would be helpful. Otherwise, our stay at Walter was amazing and we would definitely recommend to others and would stay there again if ever we come back to UK again. Many thanks for sharing your lovely cottage with us. Barb M. From West Australia.

From the minute we stepped through the door to the Walter it felt like home.

Everything you could possibly need was provided, and more! From a welcome pack with fresh bread and milk, to tea, coffee and hot chocolate and dog treats, not to mention the delicious cakes! If, like us, you had a dog with you. You can tell this has been well thought of. Dog bowls and a mat are provided, as well as doggy towels and throws etc. Easy to clean floor’s throughout downstairs and then a gate on the bottom of the stairs to stop your four legged friend roaming upstairs. The whole place was spotless and you could tell it was really cared for. The attention to detail was amazing, everything matching and everything just felt in the right place. Although there is no parking at the property, we parked in the small local car park which was about 100m from the cottage and paid £15 for the week. We were coming and going all the time and never struggled to find a place. Newlyn itself was lovely. We ate a few times at the Fisherman’s Arms, which we can highly recommend and the ice cream from S Jelberts was amazing.
