What our customers say about their holidays

    • Testimonial - Verified booking

"We thought that overall Lighthouse View was excellent, everything was provided that we could possibly need.

The TV in the living room was excellent, the kitchen was fully equipped & the power shower in the bathroom was fabulous. Lighthouse View was light & spacious & had a relaxed feel about it. All the rooms were clean & fresh & looked like they had been newly decorated. We enjoyed the lovely views across the sea to the lighthouse from the living room & main bedroom. With regards to eating out we had excellent fish & chips to take away from the Porthminster Beach Cafe. In fact we thought that they were some of the best fish & chips that we have ever eaten (better than Rick Stein). We ate them on the tables provided on Porthminster beach, which was a fabulous location. We also had good food at the Badger pub, Lelant. The carvery was very good value & the crab salad was filled with loads of fresh crab & was excellent. Reen Manor riding stables at Perranporth did amazing beach rides, which I can thoroughly recommend & were well worth the £50 for two hours, so don't be put off by the price. Also we thought Perranporth beach was fabulous & can also recommend the pub the Watering Hole which was right on the beach. In fact we thought Perranporth was a really lovely seaside town & was one of our favourite places that we visited. We can also recommend the boat trip to see the seals from St Ives. The cost was £9 per person & lasted just over an hour. The seals were lovely, very friendly & kept swimming up to the boat, it was an amazing experience. We can also recommend the boat trip from Truro to Falmouth & back again. It was a pity we didn't have good weather the day we went, but it didn't spoil our enjoyment of the amazing views from the boat or the trip. The price was £12 per person return. Overall we had a lovely holiday, the weather was excellent, we thought that Cornwall was beautiful & every day there was a different surprise. The Cornish people were very friendly & helpful. We thought that Carbis Bay was a beautiful location & an ideal place to stay as it was a central location to get to most places in Cornwall." E & C Mole

Hi there We have just returned from a wonderful stay at Carbis Bay but unfortunately there were a few points with the property “Lighthouse View” that we were unsatisfied with and wanted to raise with you.

      1. On arrival we found the property was not fully cleaned. There were bits all over the stairs, sand between the cushions on the sofa and a big sticky footprint on the hallway floor. We have taken photos where possible but I had to Hoover the stairs and sofa on arrival. We hoovered all the bits up on arrival before we took photographic evidence. 2. The bedside cabinets in the main bedroom had not been emptied from the previous guests as we found birthday cards and a jewellery box present. 3. The maintenance at the property was disappointing, the shower was particularly off putting with black mould present and cracked tiles. The door bar between the lounge and hallway was cracked and damaged and the outside patio area was not maintained and was full of weeds. 4. There was a very unpleasant smell in the master bedroom, which did not disappear all week even after airing the room. We felt that the standard of the property did not meet the four star rating nor the standards shown in the pictures online advertising the property as maintenance was clearly needed, the property was also not cleaned to the standard we were expecting especially in the middle of the COVID pandemic and we were upset and disappointed on our arrival. We would appreciate if you could look into these concerns for us, we have used Carbis Holidays before and have always been happy with the stand provided but really felt that the property did not match the photos provided on your website when booked.

We had a thoroughly enjoyable stay at Lighthouse View.

From the minute we stepped inside we felt at home and relaxed. The house is clean, fresh and well presented and the owners have thought of everything you could need to make your stay enjoyable- chairs for the beach, windbreak, all the kitchen items you need to cook if you wish and many more things. The position of the house is absolutely perfect for getting out and about and exploring Cornwall. The drive down the hill towards the house is stunning with the sea and light house view, and the beach is a 5 minute walk at Carbis Bay which is a stunning beach to spend some time- the hill back up is very steep so be prepared. The house is perfectly located for the train into St. Ives but it is nice to walk the coastal path into St. Ives and get the train back to enjoy the costal views. The outside area of the house is very nice to enjoy your meals/drinks and is a real sun trap until late into the evening- we had a gloriously sunny week so enjoyed our breakfast outside daily and some evening meals after a full day out. We enjoyed Lighthouse View so much we have booked for the same week next year while we were there. Roll on next year.

When we arrived the property looked just as we remembered it, clean and well maintained.

When we came to cook a meal there were no oven gloves and one cool evening we realised the central heating wasn't working, after a considerable time and using Google to work out how, we put some batteries in the thermostat, the first evening we realised that the bathroom sink was blocked so we bought a drain unblocker and cleaned it out. These are all problems which seem to be occurring since Carbis Bay Holidays were taken over and since we are no longer met by the house keeper. Our main problem came when it was the middle friday, we found a torn plastic sack on the door mat, but as the door opens outwards we had a problem moving it, on opening it we found bedding and towels that were damp and looked as if they had been screwed up for weeks. We took them to your local office where your representative said she was disgusted and she would get them changed. As we are renting Atlantic Blue again next year again for 3 weeks could you please let us and your staff know what is supposed to happen on the middle change over days, it should really be included in your terms and conditions.
