Sennen & Sennen Cove Holiday Cottages

The village of Sennen Cove in Cornwall might be small but it's certainly worth visiting - especially if you want a holiday that combines relaxation and incredible water sport opportunities. Here, the waters are crystal clear and it's a great surfing spot all year round - thanks to the swell coming from the Atlantic Ocean. What's more, it's ideally located to Penzance and other parts of Cornwall including the open air Minack Theatre.

The fishing village itself is home to a small harbour, coastal walks and plenty of surf schools. And, if you're looking for Sennen holiday cottages, you won't be disappointed. Think quaint accommodation on cliff top edges with sea views ideal for couples, large family-friendly cottages in Sennen just a minutes walk from Gwenver beach and its coastal path, and those dog-friendly properties with home comforts for humans and pups.

West Cornwall and its Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty makes for a great self-catering holiday. Plus, with thousands of properties for you to choose from all over the UK - from the South West to the North East - you're sure to find something to suit. Plus, we also have lots of deals and best-price guarantee offers to tempt you away. So, what are you waiting for? Start the staycation planning with us.

What our customers say about their holidays

    • Darren - Verified booking

      'Could do better' in short.

The location is great with lovely views onto the beach and down the coast. The cottage is fine in terms of room sizes and design. It was basically clean and tidy. However, it was let down by simple things. The garden was a mess with uncut grass, nettles and weeds. The paper lampshade in the sitting room was broken - really obviously broken to any cleaning team. The cutlery didn't match. When you sat on a dining room chair it would buckle slightly because a bolt was missing. There were no cooking trays, just an enormous roasting pan. There was no kitchen scourer when washing up that roaster after cooking in it. The Freeview didn't work. The double mattress needs changing. And - yes - I suppose this does all sound a little overfussy, until you combine them with the general tiredness of the decoration, marked carpets and a lack of any form of 'welcome pack'. In general terms, we enjoyed the location but don't feel encouraged to return to this accommodation, which is a shame because these are all simple things to get right. We tend to use Sykes Cottages because they achieve a certain quality of accommodation but this one doesn't reach that standard. A few practical points. The beach is lovely but the walk up and down isn't easy. The driveway down to the cottage is not the best for someone worried about their low-profile tyres. There needs to be some system in place for parking between the cottages on the site; there was no direction as to where to park which, although not an issue for us, could easily lead onto problems which might spoil someone's trip - tempers might get frayed!

Only really minor things for us: Light switch in downstairs bedroom broken - managed to get this to work on the last day only.

Lamp in place which was sufficient. Bed nearest window in downstairs bedroom has a distinct lean! We like to cook whilst away but struggled to find any baking tray other than a roasting dish in the oven and pasta/oven dishes other than one round one. Would also benefit from more cutlery. We could not find DVD player, selection of books or DVD's as in description. Did find 3 games. Not a problems for us but may be for a family. Otherwise was a great place to stay. Helpful information about the place and access to the beach on arrival and we were allowed straight in although early. Great views which is restricted but this is in the property information/photos. We loved the view as can see all across Sennen to the left, but also see the sea to the right from each room. Walk down to the beach is great to access the dog friendly beach but was a bit of a challenge coming back up for us!! Place was clean and comfy. Cleaning items available - easily found in a cupboard along with the hoover. We found the beds ok. Slightly firm but we were fine with this. Garden is separate to the property just across the drive but is secluded and also has great views across Sennen. Great to have parking on site. Would stay again.

The property is well located for Sennen Cove, but the name “sea the view” is a bit misleading as it doesn’t really have sea views.

The rooms are very nice quality and design and a lot of thought has gone into it. The photos on the listing showed comfy outdoor furniture but this had been replaced with less lounge furniture (which is obviously easier for them to maintain). So there was nowhere we could all sit and lounge outside (the comfy corner sofa chairs were not there, the swing chairs had been taken down etc). So it wasn’t quite as expected. The bed linen was lovely quality but the pillows were awful - I get this is very personal but I had to go out and buy some as they were that poor and the main bed had a super firm mattress. We had problems with the main patio door not working which meant there was a gap when they were closed and as it is quite an exposed garden the draft and noise of the wind was quite annoying. In addition we had a day of driving rain which lead to a large leak flooding the floor under the picture window. Eating in all the basics crockery was there but for example there was no salad bowl or serving plates, so if you were wanting to do a nice meal in it was a bit basic. The addition of an electric charger was very helpful. It was lovely but overall for the high price I don’t think it quite delivered.

The cleanliness was good, however we found an empty chocolate wrapper and half eaten pack of Doritos under one of the beds.

A pair of oven gloves would be useful. On the second day of our stay I put a load of washing into the machine. The house manual had instructions for how to erect the clothes airer - I hunted high and low and could not find it. There was no washing line outside to hang the clothes on either. I phoned Sykes and asked if they could contact the housekeeper to find out where it could be found. I was told this would be dealt with on the Monday since it was a weekend. I phoned again on Monday and was told they would phone the housekeeper and that they would bring out an airer that day. It never turned up. I phoned again on Tuesday - and received a call to say the airer was in the downstairs cloakroom - which is was not. So I was told the housekeep would bring one out - it never turned up. At this point I just gave up. I had to use the tumble dryer to dry my several loads of wet washing during the week, which I was loathed to do, and would incur increased electricity costs. Some of my washing could not be tumble dried so I had to hang it on hangers all around the house. All around not a very satisfactory service from Sykes, which considering I had paid just under £2500 for a week, was very disappointing.

Beautiful home, we felt bad when we left as we wanted to leave a few comments in the guest book but no one had a pen!

Thanks so much for a wonderful stay!! We actually stayed in one of these last year (sea scape) and as we love it in sennen so much we wanted to come back. Sea the View didn’t disappoint, the bedrooms are beautiful and the bathroom and showers fantastic. The views are amazing too. Downstairs is lovely and the kitchen has everything you need. Couple of ideas for the new owners, it would be great to have a little bistro set to sit at outside, the big day bed and table isn’t great for anything other than lazing back! Which we did lots of course! And maybe pop a little cafetière in the cupboard - we’ve always had one in all the places we’ve stayed (even when there is a coffee machine) so it was unusual not to have one. The garden could do with a tidy up - I’m not a huge gardener but little things like pulling out the dead leaves really make it so pretty when you’re sat outside. These are just little things tho, we had a wonderful time and will DEFINITELY be back!! Thank you!!!
