What our customers say about their holidays

    • Linda - Verified booking

Beautiful, well equipped, comfortable property that we wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

Easy walk to the beach and coast path. This would have been a really great holiday if it had not spoilt at the end of the week by poor customer service from Sykes. See under. Please note that I am happy for the below not to be included in my review as it has little to do with the property or owners, however, I would like my comments seen by the owners as they were not given an opportunity to respond and I would like them to see my feedback regarding the cleaning company... We have made several bookings with Sykes as we have found their properties are absolutely lovely but, their customer service is lacking. As long as all is well Sykes customer service is perfunctory but, this changes to very disappointing if you encounter a problem, they just don't want to know. Our car broke down the afternoon before we were due to leave our Sykes property. I called Sykes to ask if we could extend our stay or at the very least leave our luggage in the sizeable, double, undercover car port for a couple of hours. Both requests were refused point blank and the Sykes representative refused to even contact the owner to request either. We were only offered a full weeks further stay at the property at the full rate. I accept that extending our stay by a day or two may not be possible (despite the property being vacant for the entire following week), however, to tell me that we would not even be able to leave our luggage in the large car port for a few hours as it would be in the way of the cleaners was just obstinate. This left us with children, a dog and all our luggage without anywhere to go on a cold rainy February morning whilst our car was being fixed, as we had to vacate the property at 10am. Luckily when the cleaners arrived and we explained the situation they were more than happy to accommodate us however they could, and we were able to leave our bags in the car port for a couple of hours whilst our car was being fixed. They had parked in the neighbouring property where they were also cleaning and said that we and/or our luggage would not be in the way at all. Sykes could have saved us an evening of worry about what we were going to do the next day without a car had they just been a little bit more considerate and accommodating! A sincere thank you to the cleaning company that services the property we were staying in, they were so very kind, unlike Sykes.

The property is well located for Sennen Cove, but the name “sea the view” is a bit misleading as it doesn’t really have sea views.

The rooms are very nice quality and design and a lot of thought has gone into it. The photos on the listing showed comfy outdoor furniture but this had been replaced with less lounge furniture (which is obviously easier for them to maintain). So there was nowhere we could all sit and lounge outside (the comfy corner sofa chairs were not there, the swing chairs had been taken down etc). So it wasn’t quite as expected. The bed linen was lovely quality but the pillows were awful - I get this is very personal but I had to go out and buy some as they were that poor and the main bed had a super firm mattress. We had problems with the main patio door not working which meant there was a gap when they were closed and as it is quite an exposed garden the draft and noise of the wind was quite annoying. In addition we had a day of driving rain which lead to a large leak flooding the floor under the picture window. Eating in all the basics crockery was there but for example there was no salad bowl or serving plates, so if you were wanting to do a nice meal in it was a bit basic. The addition of an electric charger was very helpful. It was lovely but overall for the high price I don’t think it quite delivered.

The cleanliness was good, however we found an empty chocolate wrapper and half eaten pack of Doritos under one of the beds.

A pair of oven gloves would be useful. On the second day of our stay I put a load of washing into the machine. The house manual had instructions for how to erect the clothes airer - I hunted high and low and could not find it. There was no washing line outside to hang the clothes on either. I phoned Sykes and asked if they could contact the housekeeper to find out where it could be found. I was told this would be dealt with on the Monday since it was a weekend. I phoned again on Monday and was told they would phone the housekeeper and that they would bring out an airer that day. It never turned up. I phoned again on Tuesday - and received a call to say the airer was in the downstairs cloakroom - which is was not. So I was told the housekeep would bring one out - it never turned up. At this point I just gave up. I had to use the tumble dryer to dry my several loads of wet washing during the week, which I was loathed to do, and would incur increased electricity costs. Some of my washing could not be tumble dried so I had to hang it on hangers all around the house. All around not a very satisfactory service from Sykes, which considering I had paid just under £2500 for a week, was very disappointing.

Beautiful home, we felt bad when we left as we wanted to leave a few comments in the guest book but no one had a pen!

Thanks so much for a wonderful stay!! We actually stayed in one of these last year (sea scape) and as we love it in sennen so much we wanted to come back. Sea the View didn’t disappoint, the bedrooms are beautiful and the bathroom and showers fantastic. The views are amazing too. Downstairs is lovely and the kitchen has everything you need. Couple of ideas for the new owners, it would be great to have a little bistro set to sit at outside, the big day bed and table isn’t great for anything other than lazing back! Which we did lots of course! And maybe pop a little cafetière in the cupboard - we’ve always had one in all the places we’ve stayed (even when there is a coffee machine) so it was unusual not to have one. The garden could do with a tidy up - I’m not a huge gardener but little things like pulling out the dead leaves really make it so pretty when you’re sat outside. These are just little things tho, we had a wonderful time and will DEFINITELY be back!! Thank you!!!

We can honestly say this cottage is beyond incredible.

Location is outstanding. We have been to Cornwall a number of times but never this far South. We will definitely be back. Places to see and visit as a must are - * The last and first Inn down the road, great food and drink. Staff are lovely and dog friendly. * Porthleven. A little harbour village 30 minutes away. Absolutely stunning location with wonderful beach walks, restuarants, shops, little market and pubs on harbour front. * Sennen Cove is the best beach ever. The restuarant is fantastic the walk from Sennen to Landsend is a must. The views again are fantastic. Don't forget to look for the shipwreck! * Lands End was again brilliant lots to do. Don't forget to get your photo by the point. Great place as a couple, or with children and again dog friendly. Thank you again. We can't wait to come back! 10/10.
