Valley Lodge in Devon is highly praised for its beautiful setting, spacious garden, and proximity to nature and wildlife. Guests appreciate the well-equipped kitchen, comfortable bedrooms, and thoughtful touches, including treats for both humans and dogs. While some guests mention minor issues with cleanliness and maintenance, the overall experience is one of relaxation and enjoyment in a picturesque location.
Most guests found the lodge clean and well-presented, but there were a few concerns about cobwebs and mustiness. These issues seem to be isolated rather than widespread.
The lodge is celebrated for its idyllic setting by a river, with wildlife sightings and a peaceful atmosphere. Some guests noted the distance from the beach and walking paths, but the location is generally appreciated for its tranquillity.
Guests report the lodge as cosy and warm, with comfortable beds and a homely feel. There are some remarks about the living area furniture being tired, suggesting room for improvement.
The lodge is well-equipped, especially the kitchen, and guests enjoyed the large garden. However, suggestions for rearranging the living area and comments on maintenance issues like the septic tank smell indicate some areas need attention.
Guests frequently mention the thoughtful touches, such as treats for dogs and a well-stocked games collection. While these are appreciated, it's important to note that such personal touches are subject to change and not guaranteed.

Its a secluded, peaceful "log" cabin - reminded me of a ski lodge - fully equipped, comfortable, spacious and warm with loads of space outside. I suggest you do need a car to stay here but plenty to go & see in any direction. Would stay here again

We instantly loved the location, the garden was perfect and the river was such a bonus and it was so relaxing, listening to it everyday. The Lodge itself was instantly warm, cosy and very clean.. We had plenty of space and the new sofas were really comfortable. The Lodge was decorated beautifully and well equipped with everything we needed and it had lovely furnishings. Our dog thoroughly enjoyed his stay too and we could tell he didn't want to leave. The surrounding area was lovely. We would love to come back next year, we can't wait to return. Thank you, from each of us, for such a special holiday.

I'm sure this lovely roomy Lodge was very comfortable back in the day but unfortunately the living area furniture is so tired that sitting in the evenings was rather uncomfortable. There was plenty of kitchen equipment although I didn't manage to find a coffee machine/cafetiere which was disappointing. I think it's worth pointing out (for light sleepers) that the lodge backs onto the A396 so you do get some traffic noise even though the bedrooms face the front.
