    Holiday Cottages in Paignton

Slap-bang in the middle of the English Riviera, Paignton is probably most famous for its world-class zoo. However, you can't hang a whole holiday on a trip to see the crocodiles, so booking one of our Paignton Cottages will show you that this charming town has plenty more to offer, whatever your interests.

One of the town's most famous residents has to be the crime novelist, Agatha Christie. If you're a fan, be sure to book one of our Paignton Cottages in September, as that's when the International Agatha Christie Festival comes to town. With authors, artists, would-be-Poirots and Miss Marples all celebrating the Queen of Crime's life and literature, the whole town transforms into a continual carnival – and there are more Devon cream teas to be had than you can shake a magnifying glass at!

Is Paignton best for Couples or Families?

If you're considering booking one of our holiday cottages in Paignton for a break for you and your better half, you're in luck- Paignton was recently voted one of the Top 18 Romantic Destinations in the UK. It's got plenty of secluded beaches that are ideal for hand-in-hand walks at any time of year, rugged, romantic cliffs and a bevy of excellent restaurants to get wining and dining in. Cockington Village and Country Park is only a short drive away, giving you access to a picture-postcard village and the chance to scoff a scone or two at Cockington Manor.

For those who are booking one of our holiday cottages in Paignton for the whole tribe, there are plenty of local attractions for everyone from tentative toddlers to monosyllabic teenagers. Paignton Zoo is the obvious one and a great way to spend a day, but don't overlook places like the Splashdown Quaywest Waterpark, the subterranean spectacle of Kent's Cavern, the Living Coasts aquarium in Torbay and Paignton's Occombe Farm.

Paignton is a superb holiday destination, whether you're travelling as a couple or as a family. With events, such as the Paignton Regatta, the English Riviera Film Festival and the Torbay Music Festival taking place throughout the year, you're sure to find the break that ticks all the boxes.

What our customers say about their holidays

    • Gladys - Verified booking

We loved everything about Bluebell Cottage the minute we walked in.

It is very well equipped for a self catering venue, plenty of kitchen utensils, different sizes of pots and pans, more than three kinds of glasses, a fridge with a small freezer compartment, washing up kit, the list goes on. A nice welcome package including bread, butter and milk + coffees and teas. The cottage is very cosy and clean with a lovely garden with chairs and tables and a pool and sun loungers. The beds are very comfy, the shower powerful enough for long haired ladies and the open living room/kitchen good for socialising while cooking. The location is perfect, very quiet, the two local pubs within walking distance up the hill (much better to walk downhill after a drink lol), a play park nearby that my 8 and 11 year old loved and that provided lovely views. The Olde Smokey House seems to be renown in the area for their carvery. There are also leaflets and recommendations for local takeaways in the cottage but we didn't get round to trying them although that was the plan at the start of the holiday :) We made trips to Paignton and Brixham and other nearby areas and took the local country bus to Torbay which was a short ride but check the time for the last bus back just in case. I had two children (8 and 11 year olds) with me, they loved the cottage and the pool and now we just need to decide when we'll go back. We had a lovely holiday, thank you! :)

Overall we enjoyed our weekend away, however the property we stayed in (Rose Cottage) wasn't the one confirmed on the booking.

We had booked to stay at Primrose Cottage but on arrival were guided to the property next to it. Thinking they may have been similar, we continued with our stay at Rose cottage as it had the same amount of beds we were expecting. But after a couple of the guests had an uncomfortable night's sleep in the twin room we were left wondering whether the original booking at Primrose would have been more comfortable. We then realised there was another family staying there which explained the change of property last minute. We would have appreciated honest communication from the owners about the this, especially given one of the beds were particularly uncomfortable. We also noticed that only a few properties could watch Netflix at one time, which meant if guests were already using the account others weren't able to. The tea, coffee and biscuits were really appreciated. It would have been helpful to have some salt and oil to cook with and also communication around how to shut the twin bedroom blind (or have it already closed), as this was difficult to pull down using the hooked pole.

The cottage was lovely, very quaint and characterful.

The grounds, decking and pool were well planned out, large and well maintained. The cottage was well equipped and had everything we needed for a weeks stay. The location is great. Providing a base to explore many of the beautiful places the area has on offer. The main improvement as it stands would be to have a more sturdy handrail on the stairs. The stairs are very steep (which is not an issue as that is clearly listed), but the handrail is very flimsy and did not feel strong enough to bear much weight at all. Making descending stairs more difficult. After talking to the owners they are planning an overhaul of the property. Eventually an upstairs toilet would be ideal. If you want a place to stay in Devon, which is handy for local attractions but peaceful, beautiful and with character, this will be a perfect choice.

It was the perfect stay for what I needed.

A lovely peaceful cottage in a nice quiet village where I was able to get some downtime from the noise and busy home life and able to take time to plan my backpacking travels. Matt, Rob and Lisza were very friendly and welcoming. The cottage was really comfortable nice for cosy nights in and the layout is really cool, exposed beams, the bedroom upstairs very spacious with a nice clean good size shower cubicle, basin & mirror. The kitchen had everything you need to cook yourself meals and a table by the window or nice comfy sofa for those lazy evenings. A great location for visiting seaside resorts like Paignton, Brixham and close to Totnes which is one of my favourite places in the UK! I would highly recommend it.

We absolutely enjoyed our short break at Bluebell, what a beautiful, cosy cottage.

Everything you could want was provided, including luxurious white bath towels and sheets from M&S. We were warmly greeted by Lisa and Rob, the owners, and inside the cottage, was a welcome pack that went above and beyond what we have previously had - teas, coffee, hot chocolate, sugar, small pots of jam and marmalade, biscuits and a delicious loaf of bread. In the fridge we found bottled water, butter and milk. The gardens are a delight and the pool an added bonus, especially if you have young children. A great location for touring south Devon. We will not hesitate to recommend Millman's Cottages and hope to return ourselves to enjoy a stay in one of the other amazing cottages.
