    Moelfre Holiday Cottages

Moelfre is a picturesque historic fishing village on the northeast coast of the Isle of Anglesey in Wales. The harbour may not be as busy with fishing boats as it once was, but it is still a stunning place to explore and soak up the coastal atmosphere. If you are interested in history, you can also visit the ancient ruins of Iron Age sites, including the remains of six hut groups as well as the 12th-century ruin of Capel Lligwy.

The best way to enjoy the charm and beauty of Wales is to stay in an equally lovely holiday cottage. We have cosy cabins with secluded hot tubs and crackling log fires, as well as bright, spacious barn conversations for big groups. Looking for a family holiday? Our open-plan farmhouses are great for families, with many of them also being dog-friendly properties. Travellers seeking extra privacy can choose from cottages with pretty, private gardens, and keen walkers can stay in properties that sit right on the edge of popular walking routes.

Here at Snaptrip, we list thousands of UK holiday cottages which are all backed by our best price guarantee. We also have search filters and our friendly customer service team to help you find the perfect property to suit your needs. Tyny berth 17 to 24th August Nice cottage, been mistreated by others I think over the seasons, spoilt our break considerably.

Really nice views and a lovely cottage. But very disappointed with our stay. Not acutely listed in Sykes. Open fire is a gas fire, Near main road is actually directly on a 40mph road, Parking is tight when you dodge the traffic, Grass area is ok but we did not feel safe letting our dog out unattended just incase, due to the proximity to the main road. Cosy rooms and clean fresh bed linen, reasonably clean, but don’t look on top of the wardrobes, full of dust. Careful if you have dust allergies as I do. Kitchen is well fitted but has been misused by a few families as mentioned, only 2 pint glasses in the whole house, and 1 wine glass etc, oven hob button comes off so be careful and put it back on. Warning, the gas fire in the living room does not light, don’t bother. Tried for two days, listed as open fire, but gas fire fitted, several cold nights later found out central heating is controlled via a smart hub. Worked great when we realised this was the case as we spend several cold nights with the heating not on. The white box was on the top mantel under the tv. In the warmest room. thus no heating switched on. When we moved it to the bottom of the mantelpiece heating actually worked. Bins were full when we arrived on Saturday 17th. Limited room for any rubbish. Manual says they get collected on Friday, actually it was collected on Tuesday. So make sure you leave the bins out. Just be careful of the wind blowing the bins into the road though, one of ours went walkies into the main road with the wind, we are aware this can’t be controlled but knowing when to actually put them out would be great. Two different days listed in the house guide, which did not match when they were actually collected. Hot tub lid, was broken before we arrived by a previous families children dancing on the lid, This made the hot tub really hard to use as it was in two pieces, This although an inconvenience, did not stop use of the actual hot tub, when it was working for the 2 days it worked. Note when it was actually working 1.5 of the 3 powered jet system , the buttons were working just no pressure and or jets. seams a constant theme looking at other reviews of the hot tub breaking 2ish days into the stay. As mentioned our stay, the hot tub broke on the 2nd day anyway, by tripping the electrics. Not to be used for the remaining week, we only got to use it 2 out of 7 possible days. As the hot tub has not been able to be used all week, this has Considerably put a dampener on the cottage and hot tub experience, one of the main reason for booking this actual cottage. Very disappointing. And has considerably spoilt our family holiday. House manual was, is written very hostile and not really a warm welcome. For instance the shower was blocked when we arrived, and I ended up on all fours on our first night fixing and making it usable. Ended up removing a piece of plastic from the sump by poking fingers into the hole. Not hair like the instruction book seams to suggest. Plus Water pools in the corner by the door and you have to stop showering to ensure the water flow does not flow over the edge. Sykes description needs to state its on a main road and difficult to pull in and out of a blind corner on an 40mph road makes it interesting. The actual drive, although it does fit two parked cars, you cannot turn or manoeuvre. you need two very small cars, with two very skilled drivers for this. Owner although responsive on texts had to be chased for updates and to this date no response as to when hot tub will be fixed. Writing this on our last night, so it’s the next family’s issue now. Good luck We won’t be back to this cottage, Anglesey still has hidden treasures to be seen, so we might book an alternative cottage next time.

After we had booked this short break I read a few reviews from previous guests and I’m not going to lie I was worried and annoyed at myself that I hadn’t read them before booking, but I’m glad I didn’t as I may not of booked.

I was expecting loads of issues and whilst I agree the property needs a little TLC to address areas of damp and some parts need painting touch ups, I feel these are minor issues and some of the reviews are unfair. I did notice the owners response to one review which states they are decorating very soon so I would definitely consider returning again and it would be nice to see the improvements. We had a lovely four night stay here. Weather was in our favor, so we got to use the hot tub, which was in good working order and clean. Previous reviews stated the hot tub was overlooked, but personally, (and I am self conscious) didn’t feel like any passing traffic would be able to see us. We put a bit of music on low and we found it relaxing and hardly noticed any traffic noise at all. The views from the hot tub are amazing too. The property itself was really cosy and we loved all the special touches, such as board games, dvds, books, smart tvs and the binoculars to look out over the sea. The kitchen was great, loads of utensils, dishwasher, washing machine, microwave, oven, kettle, toaster, all clean and in perfect working order. There were lots of essentials to get us going such as dishwasher tablets, fairy liquid, toilet rolls, etc, which we thought was really good till we got the chance to get settled in and do a bit of shopping, then we replaced what we had used. Bedrooms and bathroom were clean and plenty towels were supplied and these smelled so lovely and were really soft. So the only things we would like to see to improve the stay are: blackout blinds in all bedrooms, a few more coat hangers, decorating to areas that need it, bit of attention to the outside area such as weeding and maybe some plants. Other than that it was perfect and Thankyou for letting us stay. Things we loved: The property was homely and welcoming. We loved the views and the proximity of the property to nearby beaches, shops and some really good restaurants. We loved Dylan’s and The Tavern on the Bay. The chippy behind Tesco express was also great but got really busy! Thanks for renting out this lovely property and we hope to visit again soon.

He only thing going for this property are the lovely views, which can currently only be enjoyed from upstairs, as the overgrown shrubs and bushes to the front of the property and garden block the views.

It looks lovely on the photos but definitely in need of a good clean, general upkeep and essential maintenance! En-suite toilet didn’t flush properly due to bodged incorrect flush system. The bath tap/hand held attachment leaked off the roll top bath onto the mucky floor underneath, we tried to stop this with towels but it ended up leaking through the ceiling and downstairs electrics! Which resulted in us unable to use it at all due to safety. Paint peeling off the ceiling over the shower, which lands on you when showering. Paint peeling off walls and damp patches all over the property. Stains on cushions and throws. Dust and cobwebs on light fittings and under furniture. Uneven floors upstairs. Cheap flat pillows on the beds, although the beds themselves were comfortable. Cupboard and drawer units difficult to open/close. Outside the back door was very slippery due to excessive bird poo due to nests above. Front door couldn’t be used due to excessive weeds and hole in the floor in the front porch (currently covered by carpet!) Driveway and garden excessively overgrown with weeds and nettles. Definitely avoid if taking young children. Old hot tub cover dumped on the driveway. Hot tub is set up on a raised patio with a large step up to it, not easy for elderly guests or people with mobility issues. The hot tub would only work properly half at a time. Although it is a six seater hot tub the information book says only three people are allowed in at once?!? Two mismatched uncomfortable benches are the only outdoor seating. Tin opener didn’t work. Kitchen bin lid broken. Instructions say you are not allowed to touch the heating it is preset to the owners requirements. (thank goodness we visited in summer). Also the property is on a very busy road, which didn’t bother us but something to be aware of if traveling with young children or dogs. I do believe this house could be lovely again if the issues are rectified, in the current state it seams it is just a money making opportunity and not a home from home that people expect when paying this kind of money.

We had two Anglesey holiday homes on our shortlist but Tyn Y Berth won as she has an “open fire” and a “hot tub” according to Sykes website.

Unfortunately the open fire is actually gas and the hot tub after tripping off on the Sunday became a cold tub as it then failed to warm up the rest of week making it unusable. The kitchen is well equipped with utensils, crockery, pans etc the living room furniture is comfy and the beds were clean and comfortable. It is warm, sometimes too warm as the heating is on to avoid condensation on the thick walls but I think it is more likely because the house has a serious problem with damp on the side wall. It is in a fantastic location for visiting lots of great places. Unfortunately, there are a lot of negatives of which to list a few are the very wet wall in the main bedroom which also has a wardrobe with one door, the other is propped up against the side of the wardrobe, the cupboard under the sink is dirty and the paintwork on the staircase to be frank is a disgrace. I note having read some reviews when we got home that this was mentioned previously and the owners responded that it was because the wrong paint had been used and they would be rectifying this problem week commencing 12th August. As our visit was w/c 30th September I can only assume they meant 2024! Overall the general upkeep of the house and garden is really not good. The bushes at the front of the house are overgrown spoiling what would be a lovely view and the paving is full of weeds. The house does not warrant the amount of money it costs to stay there and I definitely wouldn’t recommend it to family or friends in its present condition.

What a lovely place to stay.

Set back from the road so no real traffic noise, but close enough to walk to one of the two local pubs. The accommodation is perfect for all age ranges, and anyone with mobility issues. We are 3 couples in our 60’s (well one is under but we’re not counting) so enjoyed the fabulous views of an ever changing sea & sky from the very comfy lounge. As a previous review said, how good it was to have comfy seats for everyone. (even if there’d been the 8) The kitchen is very well equipped, the beds & bedding super comfy, and luxury of 2 en-suites & family bathroom.. always plenty of hot water for the showers. Pristine cleanliness throughout. The wood & tile flooring throughout (apart from bedrooms) coupled with the high ceilings gave a spacious airy feel, (although personally I found it a little echoey). The icing on the cake was the large hot tub on a lovely patio, great view from tub too. Our hosts were unobtrusive (tub checked daily) friendly and helpful with any questions we had. We all said Yr Hen Feudy is a great example of a well planned out design and execution of a 5star holiday home. We highly recommend it.
