What our customers say about their holidays

    • Dorothy - Verified booking

We had a very nice week at the property and would very much recommend it to others.

The bungalow is nice with an enclosed, dog friendly garden and ample parking for 3 cars (6 people stayed). The bungalow is near to a busy main road but as we were not sitting outside in the garden the noise from the traffic was to an acceptable level. The kitchen was well equipped, lounge and dining area were spacious. Main bedroom & ensuite bedroom were good sizes but 3rd bedroom with twin beds was cramped. It was nice to have wardrobes that had plenty of coat hangers (so many places don't). Sofa & beds were generally comfy. The wi-fi was good and 3 TV's with smart functions were a nice touch. Alexa was a nice extra allowing us to play background music when we didn't want to watch TV. A good selection of books and games were appreciated. The central heating was very good, one of the best we've experienced at a holiday let. There were a few minor points that we'd like to make (these didn't spoil our holiday but we thought were worth mentioning) - 1) Spare bin bags & better recycling instructions would be useful 2) Whilst I wouldn't expect you to provide toilet rolls for a full week, 2 toilet rolls for 2 bathrooms & 6 people was inadequate 3) The fridge might be nearing the end of it's life as it had a tendency to freeze products rather than chill them 4) A few of the towels, placed on beds, were not properly dried/aired when we arrived so we had to put them on radiators to dry them. 5) Last but not least we thought it might be a good idea during Autumn & Winter months to re-orient the lounge so that the sofa was facing the fire (means swapping TV with sofa). It might not work but if you haven't thought about it then it might be worth trying. In conclusion - A lovely home, thanks for a nice vacation. The Bate family

This property is really beautifully fitted out, with seemingly nothing being too much trouble.

It was immaculately clean on arrival, and given that we are still mid-Covid, this was really reassuring to see. The gardens are beautiful and this was a fundamental part of our stay as we needed somewhere for a (mad) beagle / collie cross to run around. He loved every inch of it, and I can truthfully say that the grounds are definitely dog-proof! If we had 2 tiny niggles, one is that the dishwasher door falls open with a terrible force so please make sure you don't have any small animals or children sitting under it! Secondly, and this is something which the owner can't do anything about, but the road is really noisy. For us it made no difference as we were out and about an awful lot but I imagine that if you didn't have great weather, it might become frustrating. Everything from the decor to the accessories was homely and well thought out. We took our own vacuum, just in case the dog malted too much (which he did!), but there was one there for use if needs be. We will definitely re-visit this property - in fact we have tried to re-book for September but it's already fully booked :-( Thank you for a wonderful, much needed break.

This is an amazing property and probably the best we have ever stayed in.

We spent many hours enjoying the wonderful view from both the lounge and dining room windows, over Red Wharf Bay towards the Menai Strait and the mountains of Snowdonia. The situation is very convenient, not only for local shops - there is a Spar just two minutes walk away, with very friendly, helpful staff - but also for visiting other parts of the Island. It is comfortably and comprehensively furnished, and absolutely spotless. The owner has thought of everything, even to providing torches on every bedside table and in the kitchen and, most amazing of all, pairs of good quality binoculars in the lounge, dining room and kitchen. We were amazingly lucky with the weather. Whilst our neighbours back home in Worcestershire were struggling with the cold and the rain, we had blue skies and warm sunshine on most days, and were able to make good use of the sun trap of a back garden with a G&T around 5.00 on several afternoons! We have no hesitation in recommending this property and, indeed, the beautiful Island of Anglesey, both of which we hope to return to in the future.

On entry we noticed the hall was full of sand and stones and had not been cleaned.

The kitchen had food and hair on the floor and was dirty. (We mopped this clean and noticed the mop was bone dry and not been used) the floor was filthy. The front room floor and carpet was full of crumbs and hairs sand and had not been cleaned. The whole of the ground floor had not been cleaned. Upstairs was immaculate and cleaned throughout. There was a pair of Childrens underpants under the chair in the downstairs bedroom and sun cream bottle tops under the cabinet in the downstairs bathroom. There were stains on the sofa so we turned the cushion over to find half a bowl of rice crispys and a pound coin that went out of date 2 years ago!!! We didn’t want to complain at the time this would have upset the 92 year old who paid for the holiday. Overall the house is lovely and location and facilities were superb, just a shame for the amount it cost that the place wasn’t clean.

Such a lovely cottage, the pictures don’t do it justice.

The owners have really put thought into everything you may need during the stay and such a lovely little welcome box of goodies when we arrived, even down to chew sticks for our dog (which he demolished). We have had the pleasure to stay at many cottages through Sykes and this is definitely one of the top 2 we’ve stayed at. There were a couple of comments on the reviews that made us worry such as road noise and that it was hard to get in and out of the drive from the road. We found this was no problem at all, the driveway was very straight forward to find and we were able to get two cars in and out without an issue every time. The road noise is there slightly due to the road but we wouldn’t say it was disruptive. Over all had a fantastic stay and we will definitely be returning. Thank you.
