About this property

This traditional, stone-built cottage sits in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, on the edge of Abersoch. Affording panoramic views across Cardigan Bay to the mountains of Snowdonia (Eryri), Gwelfor is a magnificent choice for families looking to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The cottage retains many original features, including open beam ceilings on the ground floor and rough-hewn rafters on the first, some salvaged from the rigging of old sailing ships. Discover the bright and spacious living/dining room, where you can relax after a day of coastal trails, tuning into the Freeview TV. Step into the galley kitchen, equipped with all the necessities for a short break, including an oven and hob, microwave, fridge/freezer and washing machine. On the ground-floor there is a double and a twin, perfect for those with limited mobility, whilst upstairs there is a twin and single, which can be taken over by the little ones. To the outside of this Abersoch cottage is an enclosed lawned garden, offering a paved area with barbecue and outdoor alfresco dining. For those avid golfers, just next door is the scenic Abersoch Golf Course, while less than a mile away sits Abersoch beach, so you can easily enjoy days on the sand. In the centre of Abersoch, plenty of shops, pubs and restaurants can be found, with a farm shop and a café even closer, so you can give the chef of the family a break from cooking. The market town of Pwllheli is within easy reach and offers a lovely day out with a walk along the Llyn coastal path, or continue to Criccieth and visit the iconic castle, perched on the headland shores of its sandy beach. Further afield, a day can be spent in Caernarfon, or take off to the glorious Snowdonia National Park. Gwelfor is a fabulous break in a great area of North Wales.

Abersoch, a picturesque harbour village in Wales, can be found in the Llyn Peninsula, an area known for its breathtaking natural beauty and a wide variety of hiking opportunities. During the summer, the village, which is sandwiched between two beautiful bays, plays host to some of the most prestigious sailing regattas in all of North Wales. The area has many restaurants, bars, and cafes that cater specifically to tourists. Golfers can take advantage of the nearby course, and those interested in horseback riding will find stables not far from the village. Those interested in water sports, such as windsurfing, waterskiing, and dinghy sailing, as well as the world-famous surfing at Port Neigwl (Hell's Mouth), will find plenty to do. Abersoch Main Beach, with its miles of soft sand, is likely the most well-known beach in the region. The Llyn Peninsula and its environs are home to an abundance of stunning beaches, such as the rocky Porth Ceriad and the sandy Porth Oer ("Whistling Sands"). The National Trust owns most of the coastline, and it includes many secluded coves, sandy beaches, and cliffs, as well as wildlife sanctuaries like Bardsey Island.

Great to relax in after a very long journey. Extremely pleasant and helpful host. Parking a bit tricky until you get the hang of it. Wouldn't recommend a large car manouvering. Sofas comfy but very slippery so cushions don't stay in place. A new cooker would be an improvement as the present one very slow and not fan. Generally would recommend as a great place to stay.
