What our customers say about their holidays

    • David - Verified booking

The property is beautifully sited and easily accessed from the A55, the Felinheli Flyover and the direct road into Caernarfon.

The convenience of a large, well known supermarket and service station is brilliant as well as the easy access to the diverse and lovely shops around Caernarfon itself. The property is very comfortable and was warm and welcoming when we arrived which was much appreciated. The various local delicacies left in the kitchen were much enjoyed. As we were staying for 4 weeks - we were between house moves - it was a real treat to be able to relax in the Apartment and yet play with the dog in the garden. There was plenty of information available about visiting local and national treasures and it would be wonderful if more detailed provision of local dog walking/play areas, as well as play areas for children, could be included too. The kitchen was well equipped and instructions were very useful - thank you. I did advise the Cleaning Crew that the on/off switch on the oven seemed to be prone to non functioning when switching off - perhaps there is a knack to that. It was wonderful to be able to launder and dry clothes - thank you for this facility - a massive help. The utility room was well endowed with implements etc for looking after oneself including a vacuum cleaner which I did not want to use on the wooden floors and would have preferred to use a long handle broom. The weather was balmy and calm for most of the time that we were in residence but this last week of ice and freeze has illustrated that it might be prudent to have some gritting salt for the long sloping garden path down to the lower road and another for the sloping path and steep steps up to the top road. A couple of friends came over to have tea - and to check out the apartment - and they loved it - both wanting contact details so that they can refer their visiting family and friends to the location. All in all, thank you for a lovely, comfy, warm, easily accessed apartment which helped to make my 4 week stay very relaxing - especially as I was also recovery from bronchitis too! A great sojourn!

Sykes Holiday Cottages has NO customer service.

We asked for the twin beds to be made as a double and it wasn’t. There was NO way to contact them and the WhatsApp messages were answered by a computer. Why is there no human being to speak to? The internet site just went round in circles and no phone number was answered. Dreadful experience. The information book was out of date and there was no paper for visitors to add comments or recommendations. There were no leaflets or where to go and what to do as we have had in other rentals. There is no shaver point: no coffee pot of any kind: no kitchen scissors: no chairs in the bedroom so nowhere to put some clothes: no hooks. We saw comments on line with the same issues and they had not been rectified. Poor! The so called garden was just some very scrubby uncut grass. The TV needed rebooting every time we used it! The outside light at the back of the property was faulty and we had to waste time waiting for a maintenance man to come and fix it. It was permanently on and the thin blinds in the bedroom were useless. The response from the maintenance team was quick and very efficient. The car park needs clear labelling as this caused issues with 3 cars for the occupants of the penthouse flat. However, the location was good and an easy walk into Caernarfon for pubs and restaurants as well as Tescos just up the road. The flat is light and spacious but basically equipped.

The location of this apartment is fantastic - all of Llanberis is just a short walk away.

The local shop for food was literally a stone's throw from the apartment. The apartment is really light, with windows on both sides, and great views all around. The kitchen is equipped for cooking with a good cooker and hob, and the shower is lovely, although a bit problematic to get going (however the guidebook provides a work around for this). The electric heating was a bit of a problem - only two convector heaters and two other fan heaters, although we were given a third fan heater. This gave us heating in two of the three bedrooms, the lounge and the kitchen, but the towel rail in the bathroom wasn't working at all during our stay, so this room was colder. Convector heaters in all rooms would have been quieter and more comfortable, although we do particularly feel the cold, so other guests may find the temperature easier. The beds, sofas and dining chairs were all comfortable. The wifi worked from time to time, but the mobile signal was good enough to get 4G when the wifi cut out. A large TV (for those who want one) with a good reception. The apartment is upstairs, but the stairs aren't steep. We'd recommend this flat, but if you feel the cold, bring a couple of extra layers for the evenings.

Pros -The location of the apartment is amazing.

Within walking distance to Snowdon, the waterfall and the lake train. Parking was great right outside the apartment but also on the road outside so could leave the car even after we had checked out. The views out of the windows are amazing. The apartment is very spacious. Cons -Inside the property the stairway up had a damp smell. Every chest of drawers is broken, didn't affect us as we only stayed for two nights so didn't use them but if you were staying for longer and wanted to unpack I can imagine this would cause problems. The freezer froze all of our food so had to be thrown away. We needed to wash all cups and plates etc before using as they weren't clean The beds were extremely creaky and not very comfortable. The bedroom light wouldn't work and the smoke alarm was beeping however these were fixed by the host after our first night. Although my list of cons outweighs the pros, if you're looking for a large place to stay close to everything with good parking then it definitely meets that and with only a few adjustments it would be amazing. If I were visiting the area again I would stay again.

      Overall our stay was pleasant.

The views were spectacular and the beds were super comfy. The location was ideal, very close to Snowdon and all the local shops, bars and restaurants. There are a few things that could be addressed to make this property even better. There was a broken door handle in the living room, one of the heaters didn’t work, dead moths on the windowsill, sunken floorboards in the bathroom and cobwebs on the ceiling of the main bedroom. The kitchen walls were quite stained, but nothing a lick of paint couldn’t fix. As we were out most of the day, these things did not impact on our overall experience as we used the property as a base to explore. The property had everything we needed for a comfortable stay, with a fully equipped kitchen and towels and bedding provided. The shower could be a little temperamental but details were in the visitor book to explain how to fix this. The rooms were a great size and accommodated our family of 5 well. Overall, we had a great stay and this location was perfect for us.
