What our customers say about their holidays

Sykes Holiday Cottages has NO customer service.

We asked for the twin beds to be made as a double and it wasn’t. There was NO way to contact them and the WhatsApp messages were answered by a computer. Why is there no human being to speak to? The internet site just went round in circles and no phone number was answered. Dreadful experience. The information book was out of date and there was no paper for visitors to add comments or recommendations. There were no leaflets or where to go and what to do as we have had in other rentals. There is no shaver point: no coffee pot of any kind: no kitchen scissors: no chairs in the bedroom so nowhere to put some clothes: no hooks. We saw comments on line with the same issues and they had not been rectified. Poor! The so called garden was just some very scrubby uncut grass. The TV needed rebooting every time we used it! The outside light at the back of the property was faulty and we had to waste time waiting for a maintenance man to come and fix it. It was permanently on and the thin blinds in the bedroom were useless. The response from the maintenance team was quick and very efficient. The car park needs clear labelling as this caused issues with 3 cars for the occupants of the penthouse flat. However, the location was good and an easy walk into Caernarfon for pubs and restaurants as well as Tescos just up the road. The flat is light and spacious but basically equipped.

The apartment was very nice as had recently been refurbished.

There was plenty of space and the bedrooms were a good size with the most comfortable beds we have ever slept in. Lovely bedding too. No issues with the actual apartments really. The flush on one of the toilets stopped working on Sunday but we had 2 toilets so just reported it on Monday morning when checked out. We did struggle a lot with the noise from the pub directly next door on Friday & Saturday nights. Friday was very loud Karaoke until 2am, and on Saturday live music until 2am. There was crowds drinking outside, very rowdy until closing time. The windows are only single glazed in the front 2 bedrooms and it was impossible to sleep until the pub had shut and finished kicking out. Bottle skips/bins being done at 2.30 in the morning. We could have maybe coped if it was until 12.30 ish but we struggled as was 2 consecutive nights. The road sweeper then comes round at 6am! Sunday night was fine as nothing on next door. Good apartment for anyone intending to be out until the early hours at the bars/pubs or who can sleep through anything.

The location is stunning and has great beach access.

Fantastic views! The flat had everything we needed. The kitchen is well equipped and was very clean. The bathroom is modern and was very clean. Plenty of towels. The roof in the living room leaked when it rained not only during the storm. The carpet in the dining area is in need of cleaning/replacing The hot tub was great especially at night with clear skies. Temperature was controlled by the owner and it was on the cool side. Both the double mattresses are in need of replacing. It was lovely to hear the sea at night when going to sleep and on waking! The steps up to the flat can be slippy when wet and need grip plates on them. We had a great time with local walks and time on the beach/painting from the patio. Caernarfon airport is great for lunch or coffee. Airport museum good to!

      Very nice place!

Extremely tidy, modern and spacious! We used the property as a place to stay while we climbed snowdon and other surrounding areas so didn’t spend much time inside however the place is spotless without many faults at all. If I was to give feedback on possible improvements I would say these few things. - Leave a couple of dishwasher tablets for people to use if needed - Locks on the doors could do with some WD40/Grease, I have Ultion locks at home so have to do the same as they were a little stiff. - Maybe think about putting an outside socket for EV’s. This would just be a nice feature but not detrimental as we were able to charge at the Morrisons down the road Overall 9.5/10 place and would recommend to anyone looking to stay in this area.

Website pictures were matched by reality - a good-looking and convenient place to stay.

However, living there proved something else: no instructions on how to operate any facilities, couldn't get some to operate; those that didn't work were not fixed in spite of our raising the issues on our second day after having found them out; other things were plain irritating. In short, the various things that didn't work/couldn't see how to work spoiled the whole show - and non-one helped, at all. Very annoying and frustrating. We were told that many of the things we raised had been raised by others, so why were they not fixed then? Shame, as most could be fixed at little or no cost. So, if you fancy a good-looking and convenient place to stay, go ahead but do not expect to like it that much on closer acquaintance. You have been well warned.
