Overall a very nice place to stay and somewhere I'd happily revisit, though there are minor caveats.
The location is excellent and the balcony is a lovely place to sit, eat and watch the world go by. The harbour is lively, but not irritatingly noisy. The kitchen is well stocked with cookware and a sizeable fridge/freezer and the furniture is all very comfortable. On the potential downside, the flat is on the top floor of an old building and the ceilings are fairly low. If you're under five feet nine you won't have any problems. Taller than that and you begin to risk minor concussion in doorways. If you're a lot more than six feet tall, it simply won't be workable. Don't make the same mistake as me and be sure to take good note of the instructions for entering the building. There isn't a traditional keypad and this can be very confusing if you're super tired after a long journey and have no experience with that sort of device. Otherwise, just a few minor things that could be easily improved. Thicker curtains/blinds in the bedroom would help to block out the strong high summer early morning light. An electric fan should be provided (this could easily be stored in one of the cupboards during the cooler months): ventilation is good when the windows/doors are open, but when closed to keep out noise and light it can get a little stuffy. It would also be good to have a light summer duvet or light blanket for the warmer months. I would also recommend providing a knife sharpener.

The spacious apartment is just a few steps from the beach and offers a well-equipped kitchen. It’s perfect for those who enjoy cooking their own meals. The bright windows facing the sea provide sunshine during breakfast (weather permitting). During peak season, it can be quite lively outside the apartment, even late at night. The bedroom is at the back, but unfortunately, you can hear a ventilation system when the window is open. Light sleepers might find this disturbing. We kept the bedroom window closed at night and ventilated through the living room. The apartment is ideally located for long walks, with everything you need within walking distance. You can enjoy the smart TV in the living room or the smaller TV in the bedroom. The bathroom is spacious and well-equipped with both a shower and a bathtub. Overall, the apartment is in good condition, though you can see signs of wear from previous guests. The washer-dryer and dishwasher are very convenient, although the dishwasher’s drying function was broken during our stay and couldn’t be fixed. It still washed well, and drying by hand wasn’t a big issue. We would love to come back.

This review is for Harbourside Haven apartment three only.
We were extremely happy with the apartment cleanliness facilities, showers, bed everything it would be somewhere I could see myself living in the future. There is no carpark facilities available, but just a short walk over the bridge is a very good carpark with all night parking for free Between 6 oâclock and 8 oâclock in the morning. When we parked up for the night we paid £2.20 which covers three hours and that is carried over till the morning so we never had to be at the car park until 11 oâclock. The only thing which spoiled our holiday was the people In the flat above us constantly walking heavily from room to room this would go on for hours with no stopping. Sometimes the walking was so heavy things would vibrate on our coffee table.. This would start around 7.30 in the morning and go on till we went out and then would start again Once they came back to their apartment. There should be notices put all around the apartment blocks telling people not to wear shoes once in the apartments and to walk quietly so not disturb other Holiday makers. Because of this problem, we wonât be booking this holiday home again

The Captains Retreat was our perfect place to stay.
After busy days exploring the beautiful coastline, it was lovely to know we were returning every night to such awonderful apartment. Exceptionally clean, very spacious and tastefully decorated with everything we could possibly need during our stay. The owners were very thoughtful in leaving a fantastic hamper of treats for our arrival which we appreciated so much after travelling a long way. There was even pillow mist for a relaxing night's sleep. Everything was organised so well. Nothing was too much trouble. Upon our arrival, because the owners were still in the vicinity of the apartment, they helped us find a good parking space outside. The area is very busy as it is a popular location. We did manage to park every evening on our return and used the free parking permit provided at the apartment. On a morning, we ate breakfast on the dining table overlooking the beach and the views were fabulous. I especially liked the Quay and harbour part of Weymouth which is very pretty. I would love to return to the property one day if we were visiting this area again.

All I can say is how marvelous this accommodation is.
The hosts have really made a huge effort to ensure that every possible comfort and necessity is catered for. I particularly appreciated the drinks in the fridge, and the basket of goodies in the kitchen. almost every time you opened up a cupboard, there would be another, unexpected surprise. The view over the beach is superb, though I guess it may be a little noisier in high summer. The only thing I would say is that the bathroom hand basin is tiny, and impractical for a gentleman to shave in. Also, be aware that although the hosts leave instructions to empty rubbish into the bin outside, the bin itself can only be opened an inch or two, so placing a bag of rubbish into it is quite a challenge. Upon arrival, the communal entrance hall and stairways don't look very promising, and there are a lot of stairs to negotiate, if, like me, you have a heavy suitcase. Don't be put off by this, though, as the flat is amazing, and you will love every minute of your stay here.
