We had a lovely pre-Christmas stay at Chuffing Cottage and hope to return again soon!
The modern cottage is located in a quiet residential development in Haworth and we were thrilled to hear and see a steam train go âchuffingâ by behind the house, within a few minutes of arriving! The excitement never wore off and we rushed to the window every time we heard the train coming - such a lovely treat for kids and adults alike! Well equipped, the cottage contains everything needed for a comfortable stay and we loved the beautiful welcome pack which featured some nice chocolate treats that were enjoyed by the children, as well as snacks, bread, milk and a bottle of wine; a very nice gesture to welcome visitors! Haworth Main Street with its quaint shops and eateries is only a short walk away - but worth noting itâs up a rather steep hill (as those who know the area will be aware: itâs all part of the charm). Thereâs a large âCo-opâ at the entrance to the development which is easily the size of small supermarket and can provide enough food and variety for a weekly shop on arrival. Inside, Chuffing cottage is much more spacious and attractive than the pictures on the site suggest, and the double height living area offers a lovely place to relax and watch tv. The property was warm, had plenty of storage space and also many towels etc available in the bathroom. We took advantage of a visit to the nearby Bronte Parsonage which is a lovely place to experience for those who have an interest in literature or history. We also went for a journey on the âElf Expressâ KWVR steam train and were joined by our family who live locally - for what turned out to be a fabulous Christmas treat! Overall the cottage was a fabulous base to visit our Yorkshire relatives and explore beautiful Haworth, and we hope to return again soon!

This is one of the best cottages weâve stayed in.
The photos donât do this place justice - in particular, the beautiful, spacious, vaulted open plan living/kitchen area, but also because the owners have updated the furnishings since the photos were taken - bed linen, sofa, cushions - and itâs all very bright and tasteful and comfortable. Itâs in such a peaceful spot up a lane only accessed by a nearby farm so just the odd vehicle and, otherwise, just birdsong interspersed by the distant sound of the steam train (I didnât realise Oxenhope was on the KWR line and well worth a visit/ride) which makes you feel like youâve gone back in time. Very comfortable bed too. The kitchen is one of the most well equipped weâve come across. I had to have words with the oven but there are some tips in the manual. Big windows bring in lots of light and lovely views into the garden and field and across to moorland. Lovely little garden too. Compact bathroom has underfloor heating :-) Bed very comfortable which isnât always the case with self-catering cottages. We did some great walks - we drove a bit but there are ones on the doorstep too. The owners live next door and we met Graham who was very helpful when we had a couple of questions. Though otherwise didnât bump into them so felt private. Just watch out when youâre pan frying as thereâs no extractor and the smoke alarm was very sensitive even with the door and windows open. Oxenhope has a friendly and well stocked coop which was very handy and only a 5 minute walk.

A delightful modern and cosy 2bedroomed accommodation.
The kitchen is well equipped with everything you need for a pleasant stay. The property is exceptionally clean bright and airy. Although currently busy with building works during the day it is quiet and peaceful in the evening and night times. It is well situated to explore lots of interesting places in the local area and nearby Yorkshire Moors and Dales. The passing steam trains and babbling brook to the rear of the property adds to its charm. We were greatly impressed by the ownerâs flexibility as we needed to change the dates of our stay at short notice and they accommodated our request without issue. A useful suggestion would be to have a separate information folder about local attractions and information etc A visitors book would also be beneficial to read and record comments and recommendations. We wouldnât hesitate to recommend this property to our relatives and friends.

Well positioned just outside of the main centre of Haworth.
Less than 5 mins walk to the KWVR - steam trains (which run along behind the house). 5-10 mins walk to local takeaways: Chinese, Indian, pizza, fish and chips. And only 10 mins walk into the main cobbled streets of Haworth and the Parsonage - through the park if desired! See Victorian times come to life with back to back housing, mills etc House is well equipped with everything you would need on a holiday. Comfortable bed. Added bonus of the babbling beck at the back which can be heard with windows open and the welcome visit of a Heron! Must sees: Brontë Parsonage; Steam trains - Oakworth - where The Railway Children filmed; Shibden Hall; Hebden Bridge (great to go on the bus - TransdevGo app brilliant!); walk from Oakworth starion to Haworth also good. And the Moors.

What a wonderful homely cottage in the most beautiful setting.
Weâve done quite a few cottages but this is up with the best. It was spotless and very well equipt. The hot tub was the icing on the cake and all the lovely little gifts and extras made it all so special, particularly loved the welcome signs, never had that before but such a lovely touch. We had a lovely chilled out weekend and the owners Jo and Ian go over and above. This is definately on our âreturn toâ . Jo showed me round the new spa that is just up and running (it is amazing ) canât wait to hopefully have some treatments next time we visit. Thanks for a lovely weekend it was perfect and not forgetting the alpacas that come running to the fence when you rattle a bag of chopped carrots
