This cottage was right up our street, and was hoping it was as described in the listing, which it was.
The cottage was immaculately clean on arrival and even more spacious than viewed from the pictures online. There was only the three of us including dog, but we like our space. The rural location on a farm with horses and dogs was great. Our dog is really hit and miss with other dogs but once she was settled in, she loved the two farm dogs. The younger dog would love to play with our dog when I walked her up the road or down in the extended grounds. Jackie the owner was very friendly and could not have been more helpful. On the day after we arrived she even invited us over to join her and others for a very belated Christmas get together which she had had to postpone from last December, now September, pulled pork baps with salad followed by profiteroles!. We spent some time just chilling and relaxing at the property. The view over the extended grounds with its peaceful and tranquil location were just the job. With the door open to the conservatory it was just nice to sit and listen to the River Corran babbling away as it runs through the grounds. There was a distant thunder storm on the first night but with all the lights off and full view of the sky from the conservatory, we had a show of lightning for most of the evening. We are members of National Trust (NT), so most of our visits were to NT properties or places including Stackpole Quay (and circular walk to the spectacular Barrafundle Beach), Paxton's Tower, Newton House, Dinefwr Grounds and Castle, Calby Woodland Garden, Lawrenny Quay/Claddeau Woods. and Dyffryn Gardens (on our journey home). Other places we visited were the Dylan Thomas history trail in and round Laugharne itself and the Castle with spectacular vies accross the River Taf/estuary. Also for those interested in all types of vehicles and speed, the Museum of Land Speed at Pendine is worth a visit. We had some good food at Poon's in Laugharne (Thai/British street food and breakfasts). Also Indian takeaways both good from Elaichi's and Bombay Spice in St. Clears. Another good place for breakfast (on way to Pendine) is the Stone Range Cafe. Lovely food too at Lawrenny Quay Cafe. All in all a great stay and would definitely consider a returning. My husband, dog and I loved staying here - it was so peaceful, a real getaway in a beautiful setting.
We loved the converted barn, firstly it was bigger than what youâd expect from the photos which is a first. It was extremely clean, comfortable and the kitchen was well equipped. The welcome gift of Welsh cakes, tea, coffee, butter and milk was lovely. The layout was great - the amazing views of the countryside can be seen from sitting having breakfast at the table, on the sofa watching the Euros or sitting up in bed. We loved watching the resident ducks, chickens and goose in their daily routines particularly the ducks and goose following each other down to the pond every morning for a swim. We kept our dog on a long lead which he was happy with as the one time we let him off he moved closer to where the sheep were in the field below the barn and barked which scared them - he was promptly put back on the lead. We had trips out to Cardigan, Poppit Sands and Cenarth Falls - ensure you have £3 in cash for parking at Cenarth Falls as itâs worth it for a short walk along the river and also the gift shop is really lovely as is the owner who was very chatty and friendly. We went to Poppit Sands on a Monday when it was almost deserted. It is beautiful - well worth a trip. As we were on a relaxing holiday we didnât want to go any further than half an hour away so didnât explore Pembroke which was a bit further afield. We spent several days at the cottage reading and soaking up the peaceful atmosphere. We bought all our supplies from Tesco in Cardigan and we have an EV so we paid the extra to charge it at the cottage which was very handy. Regarding earlier reviews, the owners are great and are on hand if you need them but leave you to your own devices. And also some previous reviews mentioned the track to the cottage - it is fine, just take it slow and no problem - the sensors go off due to folliage. Driving to the property there are single track roads through the village which are on an incline - again, take it slow and youâll be fine like we were. It was our first holiday to Wales and we will definitely be back.

We had a very disappointing stay at Corran Cottage, I'm sorry to say.
We really wanted to love this property as we were looking forward to a peaceful and relaxing holiday with our dog. The cottage was advertised as being in a "tranquil setting" with "quiet surroundings", however it was far from this. The cottage is semi-detached; there is a bed and breakfast adjoining the building and guests come and go. This would not ordinarily be a problem but for the owners 2 dogs barking at all arrivals. Also on site is the owners stables and this also resulted in many arrivals and departures, again causing car door slamming and dogs barking. The owner lives opposite the cottage and the lovely garden you see in the pictures of the trees and stream is beautiful, but is also shared with the owner and the B and B guests. There is, therefore, very little privacy in the so called "private" garden for residents of the cottage, as it is overlooked by the extended garden and all who visit it. To make matters worse the owners dogs took exception to anyone using the extended garden, and our dog was jumped on and growled at each time we left the cottage. We also witnessed the same thing happening to residents of the B and B who tried to walk their dog in the extended grounds, so it certainly was not a one-off situation. Each time we left the cottage we had to carry our dog to the car to prevent it being jumped on by the owners dogs. A far from relaxing stay at Corran Cottage and we decided to leave 4 days early, as 3 nights there was far too stressful for us and our dog.

Katy and Leon are wonderful hosts: warm, friendly and so accommodating.
Nothing is a problem for them. Our cottage was a joy and as we were there for the Christmas week every room was beautifully decorated for Christmas. Well equipped and very comfortable. We were welcomed by Leon brandishing a plate of delicious pastries for us to try! Yummy! They even left a bottle of mulled wine and Christmas Bakewell tarts on the table. But the jewel in this idyllic Welsh Crown was the little "egg house" with a variety of eggs from their own chickens. The best eggs we have had in a long time. This is a brilliant location for families with dogs and/or children. There is a brilliant totally enclosed field for dogs of all sizes, accessed down a private and safe lane. Ty Cwtch has its own totally enclosed large garden which was much enjoyed by our two tiny doggies so you can let them out and leave them to play. There are rescue horses, sheep, gorgeous nosey goats who will come to the fence for a head scratch, and those chickens who gift us those wonderful eggs. The view across the valleys is as stunning as is the peace and quiet. We are planning a return in the summer. Highly recommended.

If you are looking for a complete escape, then Blaenffynnon Bach is the place for you - quiet, remote but with every comfort of home.
The cottage has been beautifully and sympathetically converted with plenty of room for a couple, well equipped with lots of storage. Bob and Rowena were lovely hosts - on hand if we had needed them but not intrusive in any way. They left us a lovely welcome basket of a small supply of tea and coffee, eggs and homemade Welsh cakes (the best we had!) and fresh milk and butter in the fridge. They also had a great selection of information about the area, various leaflets and a really handy AA map marked up with the barn's location in relation to various towns and places to visit - all very helpful indeed. Strong wi-fi signal in the property which was wonderful because as you can imagine in the Welsh hills and valleys, mobile reception isn't great! I wouldn't hesitate to revisit Blaenffynnon Bach! Thank you Bob and Rowena
