Kidwelly Holiday Cottages

Kidwelly wouldn’t look out of place in a historic fantasy novel. Dominated by Kidwelly Castle rising above the River Gwendraeth on the horizon, the mist in the morning creates a scene that’s breathtaking. You may recognise Kidwelly from Monty Python and the Holy Grail or Dylan Thomas’ poems; it’s certainly made its mark over the years. From humble origins in the 12th century as a Norman castle made of wood and protected only by earth, it was under constant attack before it was built into the town it is today. Keep your eyes out for the black cat symbol of Kidwelly – it appears on signposts, information boards and artwork all around the town.

With this beautiful location and medieval fortress unlike any other, Kidwelly holiday cottages are the perfect place to take a break. With lots of holiday cottages to choose from, including lodges, pet-friendly accommodation, cottages and even a converted pumphouse, you're sure to find something to suit. Choose from family-friendly homes to cosy cottages for two.

Holiday cottages throughout the UK are all covered by our Snaptrip best price guarantee. We have thousands of+ holiday homes to choose from, including options with hot tubs and even swimming pools! Need some help? Our friendly customer service team are on hand to help.

What our customers say about their holidays

    • Mrs Payne - Verified booking

We spent a week here and had the best time. The cottage is well equipped (with a Nespresso machine) and everything you could need during your stay. The rooms are large with high ceilings giving every room a lovely airy feel. Although there is no parking we never had any issues parking outside. It takes 10 minutes to walk down to the beach, which is amazing with very few people on it (have the fish and chips from the kiosk there, they are amazing). Also do eat at the Inn at the Sticks (you will need to book), the food is amazing as were the pizzas from the The Pizza Bar at the local shop. There is a great circular walk with lots of POI's which we split into 2 walks and also went on the Sunset Cruise (Carmarthen Bay Ferry) which was exilerating and informative but if you suffer from seasickness it may be best to leave that one! We also went on the Gwili Railway on a rainy day which was also good fun. All in all the house is perfect for 6 adults, lots to do and good communication with the owners. Would definitely recommend.

Lovely spacious yet cosy house which was clean, tidy and so homely. Very comfy beds with high quality bed linen. Everything we needed was there, including a well equipped kitchen, a laundry room, outside seating areas in the pretty garden, good Wi-Fi, a smart tv with access to Amazon Prime and Disney, a great selection of books, dvds/cds, games, jigsaws and sheet music for the baby grand piano! There was a lovely welcome pack on arrival, too. The location was perfect for us with nearby walks and the beach less than 10 minutes walk away where there’s a café (very limited opening though) and Florries takeaway snacks and ice cream kiosks where we got good fish and chips to eat on the beach. Within under 5 minutes of the house (on foot) there is a restaurant, a pub and a pizzeria - all excellent - as well as a shop/café. Everyone we came into contact with was friendly and welcoming. On road parking right outside the front door.

We stayed for two weeks and are pleased to say we had a good experience. The beds are comfortable, the showers are great and the kitchen is well equipped. The bedding and towels were all fresh and clean. We always managed to park, generally right outside the house but never more than a short distance away which was great as we had two cars between us. The location is good. We used the main route to Carmathan to join the main road as some of the other roads are quite small. The walk down to the beach is easy and the beach itself is very good. We took several long walks there as well as walking up to the castle. The local shop is also a cafe and gallery which is definitely worth a visit. The Inn at the Sticks is a great place to eat and there is also the fish and chip shop at the beach. We had a really good base for our holiday.

    • Malin from Sweden - Verified booking

We were visiting family in a nearby town so mainly used the property as a place to sleep. We did find the house to be very comfortable though having everything we needed. The bedrooms were a good size with very comfortable beds. Both the garden, the bath and the baby grand were very much appreciated. The beach and castle in Llansteffan is lovely - we've been once before and that is why we chose to stay in Llansteffan this time round. This time we also enjoyed Pendine beach and Laugharne with the castle and Dylan Thomas' boathouse as well as the towns of Emlyn and Kidwelly.

Lovely spacious property. The baby grand piano was one of the reasons we chose the house. Very well equipped. Lovely comfy beds.
Tips: Local towns such as Tenby gets very busy in the summer months and parking close to the town centre can be a problem. Folly Farm is a great day out, even with teenagers (because of the vintage fun fair and zoo) but again it gets very busy so go as early in the day as possible.
