    Kidwelly Holiday Cottages

Kidwelly wouldn’t look out of place in a historic fantasy novel. Dominated by Kidwelly Castle rising above the River Gwendraeth on the horizon, the mist in the morning creates a scene that’s breathtaking. You may recognise Kidwelly from Monty Python and the Holy Grail or Dylan Thomas’ poems; it’s certainly made its mark over the years. From humble origins in the 12th century as a Norman castle made of wood and protected only by earth, it was under constant attack before it was built into the town it is today. Keep your eyes out for the black cat symbol of Kidwelly – it appears on signposts, information boards and artwork all around the town.

With this beautiful location and medieval fortress unlike any other, Kidwelly holiday cottages are the perfect place to take a break. With lots of holiday cottages to choose from, including lodges, pet-friendly accommodation, cottages and even a converted pumphouse, you're sure to find something to suit. Choose from family-friendly homes to cosy cottages for two.

Holiday cottages throughout the UK are all covered by our Snaptrip best price guarantee. We have thousands of+ holiday homes to choose from, including options with hot tubs and even swimming pools! Need some help? Our friendly customer service team are on hand to help.

What our customers say about their holidays

    • Bikash - Verified booking

Our family recently had the pleasure of staying at this charming cottage for a holiday, and it exceeded all our expectations!

From the moment we arrived, we felt right at home. The cottage is beautifully decorated, luxurious, and immaculately clean, with spacious bedrooms and an open living room that’s perfect for relaxing after a day of exploring. Every little detail has been thought of to make families feel comfortable and welcome. One of our favourite features of the cottage was the beautiful fireplace in the living room, which added such a cosy and warm atmosphere in the evenings. Outside, there’s a fantastic BBQ space where we enjoyed family meals in the fresh air. The kids absolutely loved the separate games room, which had fun activities like table football and table tennis—perfect for keeping everyone entertained! The surrounding area is stunning, and it was the ideal spot for our family to unwind and disconnect. There are plenty of lovely walking trails nearby, great for family strolls and exploring nature. Plus, the cottage is in a fantastic location with easy access to some of South Wales' beautiful castles and beaches, making it perfect for day trips to explore the rich history and stunning coastlines. Edwin, as our host, was fantastic—super friendly, helpful, and responsive to any questions we had. He even reached out before the holiday to provide easy navigation to the cottage and shared a thoughtful list of things to do and places to eat in the area, which made planning so much easier. A lovely welcome list of essentials was also left by Edwin at the cottage, which was such a thoughtful touch! If you're looking for a peaceful, relaxing escape for the whole family, this is the perfect place. We all had an excellent stay and can’t wait to return!

We've had an absolutely fabulously comfortable and relaxing experience at The Old Carriage Court.

The well laid out facilities around all the bedrooms and communial areas gave us all the space we needed as a group of 10. The beds were really comfy, the rooms nicely decorated and quiet. The 4 bathrooms, 2 of which are ensuite, were spaced so that nobody struggled for a loo. Quality fittings, fixtures and linens. Everyone loved the games room, although for our 6ft 5in 17 Yr old it was a precarious space with some of the old ceiling fittings. Lots of friendly competition and rushed suppers. The outside area within the courtyard was well used this week with barbecue evenings and late afternoon autumn sunshine. Edwin is a delight. A lovely man who welcomed us on our first morning, gave some great suggestions on the local area and good eateries around and about. His instructions for our arrival were spot on. We arrived in the black of night and would have been lost without his very specific route up to the house. The whole group of our family enjoyed this wonderful house, all the comforts of home, the gardens and the surrounding area. We all hope to come again.

We had a lovely week and were spoilt with some lovely September sunshine!

We took our parents who are in their 90s for a week away which they thoroughly enjoyed. They did find the large steps up the the front door a challenge however once inside was great everything was on one level. The property is very well equipped and had everything that we needed within the kitchen. The property was clean and tidy. We did all struggle with storage in the bathrooms. Some shelving within these would be really useful as there is nowhere to put anything, even a wash bag. Some bedrooms also have a lack of hanging space so a wardrobe in these would be a great addition. I guess as we are approaching the end of the summer period the property has been let for weeks on end but a deep clean would be beneficial as under beds, behind chairs etc was quite dirty. Many guests would not see this but we had to move a few things to accommodate our parents needs. We will definitely return in the future.

If you need to escape the hustle and bustle Cambriol is the place!

The owners were extremely welcoming, tea and freshly baked welsh cakes on arrival. Plenty of clean towels and fresh bedding. No details have been left out with this property, it finished off to an excellent standard. By far the best holiday cottage I have ever stayed in. Clean, beautiful and the views from the property down into the valley are fabulous! We booked the property knowing the hot tub was housed instead of the usual cottages that have an outside hot tub. This was by far the best decision we made knowing the changes in the Welsh weather. It was worth every penny. The hot tub was lovely and warm and of the larger size too, with a shower in the hot tub house and amazing views , across the valley and hills, just perfect! Who ever visits Cambriol will not be disappointed!

Spent a fantastic 3 nights at this property with the family ( 9 Adults ) and a dog.

There’s plenty of space wether you’re around the dinner table or having an evening of fun and games, the kitchen is very well equipped. Spotlessly clean and very comfortable. The courtyard is a great enclosed space which is gated, where you can just relax on the benches, have a game of badminton or a BBQ, we also spent quite a few hours in one of the barns playing table tennis. The surrounding area is so peacefully quiet with stunning gardens and an old derelict house. Edwin is a great host, always at hand if there is anything needed, you’ll see him in passing sometimes walking his horse and always willing to answer the many questions we asked regarding the derelict house. We highly recommend this Cottage and hope to be returning soon.
