What our customers say about their holidays

    • Mr Strawbridge - Verified booking

Great cottage for exploring this corner of Cornwall with everything it has to offer from historic mines to amazing scenery and far more than we managed to see in one visit. An extended original "miner's cottage" there was a great connection to the past we wanted to investigate in the area. Great food at the local Trewellard Arms and at Geevor Mine among many other locations. For those wanting to explore the mining heritage, having three major mines practically on the doorstep, and within walking distance if you try a bit, is great and you can watch sunsets over the mine heads and stacks from the cottage. Visitors with dogs may want to be careful of the local cats who like to sun on the courtyard wall, but cat lovers will need to avoid adopting the bravest who will try to come in if you leave the back door open. Maybe not great if you have a large car, but them most roads around that part of Cornwall are better suited to small cars anyway. The road outside can get you fretting about getting in and out unless you are confident getting in and out of a fairly blind turn into a narrow road or turning the car within the shared parking area. Don't see that as an issue with the cottage though, it's the nature of Cornwall and a world which remains much unchanged since before cards existed - take the chance to live a different life for a while.

The Threshing barn is set in a lovely village location perfect for anyone wanting a peaceful holiday. It is about 20 minutes to Truro and Falmouth and also to Porthtowan beach, where you can book surfing lessons and there are cafes/restaurants, beach shops and toilets. As a family of 4 (children aged 15 and 12) the size of the barn was ideal and with 2 bathrooms there were no arguments! I would suggest some hooks to be added in the bathrooms for dressing gowns/ towels to be hung. There were plenty of coat hangers in the wardrobes. Beds were very comfortable. The kitchen was well-equipped!The outside space is lovely and well-maintained, the patio area has seating and a BBQ - unfortunately the weather didn't permit us to enjoy the outdoor area! There is also two car spaces and a games room with a table tennis table, this area is shared with the cottage on the grounds. We had an issue with the oven the day after we arrived and customer services were very efficient and it was sorted the next working day and It didn't stop us from having a wonderful holiday at the Threshing Barn.

I impulsively booked & so lucky this beautiful holiday home was available.

I drive 4.5 hours with my 2 doggos & got there to the most lovely, cleaning and cosy and stunning place. I’m really weird about sanitising every place I go to stay but this was so clean I did not feel I needed to at all. That’s out of the ordinary. Most places that accept dogs are not so on par with places that don’t. This is the exception! I felt instantly comfortable and everything in it is beautiful. The bed was so comfortable I didn’t even miss my own bed, oh and the shower!!! The shower is absolutely incredible! There even was hot tub that was instantly ready to jump into when I arrived, but although I did not use it, I know that would be an ultimate bonus to everyone else! Thank you so much for a wonderful stay and absolutely spot on. Only one thing that was a downside and that’s not having WiFi and my phone signal was extremely poor up there to compensate or hotspot my laptop. However, I was somehow able to hotspot to the tv to watch Netflix, which made it even more home from home. I cannot recommend this beautiful holiday home enough!

We have enjoyed staying at the well appointed, comfortable bungalow, with fantastic views front and back, with it's own paddock, and cows munching the grass in the field next door.

Situated at the tip of the headland, Boscastle can be seen from the back windows, and for us townies it was amazing to see the mist drifting in from the sea while we were eating breakfast. Boscastle had everything we needed and we travelled to places of interest further south in an hour, but much nearer "home" also had lovely places to explore. Yes the mattress was a little harder than I am used to, but it certainly didn't stop a good night's sleep being had by all of us after an exhausting day sight seeing and the quietness of the surrounding area. The owners, Lisa and Daniel are lovely and very helpful. We will definately stay there again.

      A fantastic stay!

Lovely, and very well kept, accommodation. Warm and comfortable, even in a chilly and very windy February! Wonderfully quiet holiday park, and in a great location for exploring all that the surrounding area has to offer. Just a short drive to many beautiful beaches, and easily accessible towns, as well as the city of Truro; which offers everything you could need (shopping wise). Decent shower pressure, and the hot tub as an added bonus (although not all of the jets seem to be fully working during our stay), a lovely way to unwind after a day out in the elements taking in the scenery. Would love to return - Thank you!
