What our customers say about their holidays

    • Dingxin - Verified booking

A hidden gem at the North.

Our family had fantastic time staying at Tarn End. The location is truly amazing, just a few minutes off the A69 which could lead you to Carlisle, Hadrain’s Wall and Newcastle, it’s very easy to get to and parking even if you are a new driver. With the lake on the doorstep, we had never got bored of looking out windows seeing the beautiful nature around us and water activities that people were doing in the lake. We love the garden and we enjoyed walking around the lake, our 9 years old loves doing bugs catching, birds watching and even tree climbing. We feed the swans and ducks almost everyday. If you are not scared of dark, step outside of the house doing stargazing is super fun! The inside of the cottage just as beautiful as its’ surroundings. Love the highly specific designed interior, love the premium quality of the bedding and all of us had good sleeps throughout the holiday. If you are someone like my husband who cares about shower pressures at holiday, Tarn End would never disappoint you. Our family often cook during the holiday, we found almost everything we need in this well equipped kitchen.Good size fridge& freezer, all different sizes new nonstick pans , tools, microwave and a coffee machine. I have been surprised by the hot water tap, totally love using it. If I am allowed to make one minor suggestion, I would hope oven gloves could be included. I remembered reading other reviews mentioning about pulling curtains in the living room, we had no problem with that at all. Three doesn’t have signals here if you are inside but all other providers are fine. Wi-Fi in the cottage is working like at home, very well. Tarn End is a prefect holiday cottage to us, we felt so lucky to have found the place for our summer holiday. I indeed hope that we could stay longer next time.

We had a fabulous stay and will be highly recommending it to friends and family.

The layout of the cottage was very good and the beds comfortable with well-equipped En-Suite shower rooms, and the rest of the cottage was well equipped. The views of the Tarn Lake were spectacular in Autumn colours especially when the sun came out. Superbly situated in an area that is very quiet and peaceful. Recommendations for minor improvement: For night time arrivals, the key safe box was hard to see the numbers without the use of a torch. A request for the two single beds to be put together was not complied with which was disappointing. The fire was left with the flame effect disc out which took 3 days of our stay to find, insert and achieve the correct visual display and sound effect. The curtains in the lounge / kitchen area very high making them a little awkward to pull closed and open, could do with a pull pole on the end curtain ring for ease of use for that height and would alleviate any possibility of damage occurring. Maybe an instruction leaflet on operating the hob for those not familiar with electric hobs Minor point that could make ones stay slightly easier.

We had an exceptionally comfortable stay in Jessamine Cottage.

The weather was not good but the accommodation more than made up for the short fall. The property was clean and modern and provided parking for one vehicle on the doorstep which was most convenient. There were no passing vehicles and the cottage was very quiet. The heating remained on throughout the day which was a bonus to come back to a warm place after walking during the day. The living flame gas fire provided added warmth and was a lovely feature. The location was ideal for the shops and public houses and cafes. The bathrooms were clean and modern and provided ample hot water. The bedrooms were relaxing and the beds were supportive with clean, fresh linen. A lot of attention to detail has gone into this property and it is a place which we would highly recommend.

We enjoyed a wonderful stay over the New Year.

The cottage has a lovely view east towards the lake and it's only a 5-10 minute walk to the local shops, cafes and restaurants. We parked at Old Station Car Park as the roads were icy and narrow. The fire kept us cosy during the evenings, though we had to stock up on a lot of wood as it burns through it quickly. The bedrooms were comfortable, and the shower perfectly hot and powerful. We opted to take our recycling home with us as everything has to go in 1 bin to be sorted at the waste depot, and we felt more comfortable ensuring it was handled separately. We'd certainly come back to the cottage and to Coniston on a future holiday.
