What our customers say about their holidays

    • Peter Battye - Verified booking

Very comfortable cottage. Only 3 of us so it seemed very, very spacious but it would be roomy even if there were 5 or 6 of you. Conservatory and large dining kitchen contributed to the feeling of space. Excellent shower. Washing machine and a washing hanger in back garden. Also an indoor collapsible hanger. Comfortable beds. Super quiet location on the farm but only a 3 minute drive to Dalbeattie. Lots of nice walking nearby. Kippford is a nice small coastal village. Dalbeattie is a nice town. Good cafe. Nice meal in the pub. The small but ''packed with stuff'' Dalbeattie museum is very interesting. Spent about 2 hours in it. What a nice area overall. Unspoilt, ''undiscovered''. Castle Douglas is a nice town and New Abbey a nice village with a very good cafe. Sadly Dalbeattie FC were not playing at home during our stay. I would have gone. Did go to Queen of the South vs. Alloa Athletic on the day of our arrival. A ''seven goal thriller''.

Beautiful holiday home, large enough to accommodate our family of 8. The house is well equipped with top quality appliances and spacious rooms. The layout of the house is excellent and really lends itself to quality family time or space when needed! Spectacular views from the balcony at the rear and the little touches like binoculars/telescopes were really appreciated. The house is located where there are still properties under construction, however, this did not detract from the property at all. There was no noise or mess. The utility room came in really handy with having 2 dogs. The only issue we had was although the garden is enclosed, some of the fencing boards do not come all the way to the ground and small dogs could get out. We had to watch our Jack Russell very closely!

It is a lovely cottage, quaint and dinky however the level of cleanliness was poor. The freezer compartment had frozen food residue which we managed to clean off eventually and the shower are had quite a lot of discolouration and some mold which we were able to clean with the mold remover spray. The cups and glasses were a bit dirty in places and the grill pan hadn’t been cleaned under the cover. The cleaning stuff had been kind of abandoned in the conservatory along with other pet items. The mattress protectors had stains on them. This all made you feel everything wasn’t very clean although that’s probably not fair. The views are great and the cottage could be fantastic with a little more care and less of a feeling of living in someone’s home rather than a holiday rental.

Large well equipped holiday home. On the whole, it was a good. It had everything we needed and was in a pretty location. 👍🏻 A few minor points - most of the light bulbs in one bedroom were either missing or blown, hand towel(s) missing from downstairs bathroom, and it could have been cleaner (a lot of cobwebs etc particularly on window sills, windows dirty and couldn’t be opened, debris from previous guests in wardrobes, one of the pillows cases in one bedroom had dirt and spots of blood (!) on it, and the blanket on the other ground floor bed was covered in dog hair). It just needs a bit of TLC I think. The top two floors were generally better. The king size bedrooms with en-suite were lovely large rooms.

Nice house with fantastic space. Living/dining area is excellent, as is the balcony & views. with the exception of the single room on the ground floor, bedrooms offer plenty space too. Original 70s decor & style adds something quite special. Kitchen is well stocked, tho we felt the 2nd cooker hob was unnecessary & might be better as extra worktop space. The open fire is a nice feature, tho on a very windy day it resulted in a very smoky living room - may have been a problem with the fire/chimney or user error? Plenty parking & garden space & only a short walk from the water front & the pubs & cafe of Kippford, or the woodland walks above the house. We'd certainly consider staying here again
