The apartment is clean and modern with lovely original features.
All bedrooms were big and spacious. The kitchen well equipped with full size fridge/freezer and dishwasher. Thereâs a washing machine upstairs. Three toilets and showers in total and a lovely big bath. The sitting area in the breakfast diner was a bonus and the window great for people watching as it looks out on one of the shopping streets. I was expecting more noise early morning and late evening being so central but it was pretty quiet. On the last night I left the ensuite window open and woke to the smell of freshly cooking croissants from the Cornish bakery next door. Not an unpleasant experience! The beds were all very comfortable and lots of hanging room for clothes including plenty of hangers. Loved the blue tooth speakers in each of the bedrooms. Only slight issue for me was not being able to keep the window in the bedroom with the ensuite open without propping it with something. Iâm of a certain age where I need a cold room to sleep but Iâm sure wouldnât bother most. Car parking was easy even on a bank holiday when we arrived. As soon as we had the keys we were able to put the pass in the car window. We didnât bother trying to park outside the apartment as the car park was only a two minute walk. I loved the fact that we didnât have to use the car at all once we were there. There is a co-op a couple of doors from the apartment and a Marks & Spencerâs food hall a few minutes walk away. On the doorstep are plenty of Cafes, restaurants and pubs. Be aware if there is a particular place that you would like to eat, it is best to pre-book as some places are fully booked by the day before. We can highly recommend the café Dudleyâs for breakfast or a cream tea, the Seven Stars for an amazing lunch or the Royal Castle for another great meal. We also tried the George and Dragon on our last evening. Everywhere we went, the service was exceptional despite it being incredibly busy. We used the river boat for a cruise up to Totnes. We made the mistake of going straight there and straight back rather than wander round Totnes for a few hours. We also got the ferry over to the steam train and had an enjoyable ride to Paignton but were very keen to come back as Paignton is not as nice as Dartmouth! Also recommend getting the ferry to the castle and walking back. There are some amazing views and lovely houses to look at on the way. However, as lovely as the other houses were nothing beats this apartment for locality and style. We are already planning on coming back later this year! Dartmouth is our new favourite place and Tides Door ideal for our needs.

The property is well placed to enjoy the town and all amenities of Dartmouth.
It is very central and 10min walk to centre. Although there is no parking space at the property, a permit for one vehicle is provided to park in town. The house is very stylishly decorated, modern and up to date decor. Lots of storage, very comfortable beds and well fitted kitchen. The bathroom and shower room are lovely with good water pressure in both. There is so much to do in Dartmouth itself, for two days we didn't use the car! We walked to Dartmouth Castle and Castle cove. We were lucky to see a dolphin in the cove. There is a lovely cafe next to the castle. We caught a small ferry/water taxi back, make sure you take cash to pay the ferry man. On another day we crossed the river and caught the steam train to Paignton and back for a cruise on the river Dart. 3 trips to the beach - Bantham beach for body boarding and Bigbury to catch sea tractor to Burgh Island and enjoy crab sandwich at Pilchard Inn. Another beach we enjoyed is Blackpool Sands (not sandy) a sheltered bay with good swimming. Bigbury and Bantham beaches are sandy. There is an abundance of places to eat in Dartmouth and our favourites, Alf Resco for brunch, Floating Bridge and Rockfish for dinner. There is a great butcher just next to the market place at the end of the road when you walk into town. Also a French bakery next to the market, down one of the narrow lanes. We didn't have time to take a ferry trip to Dittisham where we planned crabbing on the pontoon, we also wanted to go paddle boarding but hopefully do them next time. Very enjoyable and Hillside is the perfect place to stay.

Not telling us that It was impossible to drive into Dartmouth because of the regatta was just negligent.
Leaving the updated parking instructions in the cottage was pointless as we couldnât drive anywhere in Dartmouth. We had no choice but to go straight to the park and ride we then of course had to pay as we hadn t got the pass with us.By the time we had used the park and ride once without luggage and got to the cottage we then found the updated parking pass.We couldn t get the majority of our belongings from the car until the next day when the regatta was over.It was a very bad start and with some communication from you could have saved us time and trouble. The courtyard as you described did not have bistro furniture in it.The ground was covered in green slimy stuff..We were concerned that the large windows opened so wide.Surely a health and safety worry. It should be made clearer in the details excatly how many steps there are leading to the cottage. It could easily be too much for some people carrying cases and food.

Gull Cottage is in a wonderful location, just a couple of minutes walk from the harbour and in a very quiet laneway (though a little tricky to find first time!
) The cottage is nicely decorated and well equipped though it's a shame there was no welcome pack with tea/coffee/milk etc as we are used to getting in other rentals. We are a family of four, two adults and two young teens. The bedrooms were comfortable, clean and spacious enough for our needs, but I will say that the photos make the living/kitchen area look bigger than it is. If we all wanted to watch TV, 2 had to sit on the (not very comfortable) high stools by the kitchen counter as one sofa was situated under the TV. It wasn't a major issue but for longer stays it may have been necessary to do some rearranging of furniture. More towels would have been lovely but again, a fairly minor issue. I presume if we had been staying a week we'd have had a fresh set available. Great to have two bathrooms though, and the showers were super. Overall I'd recommend Gull Cottage as a comfortable and convenient holiday let.

The Old Wash House in Dartmouth is a beautiful property.
Perfect location for getting into town and itâs a flat walk. We also had parking which is always a bonus. Everything was just about thought of in the house, if they had put clothes in the wardrobes donât think we would have needed anything. The showers were amazing and the smart TVs a real bonus it meant we could sign into all our steaming services, Netflix, Prime and Now as well having all the catch up services. The courtyard was lovely sit out, once we found the cushions doh! a tiny niggle would be that itâs not secure for the dogs and we quickly learned you have to tie them up or hold their lead to avoid an escape. The third bedroom is up in the eves and isnât really suitable for anyone older than a teenager, which was fine in our case as that was who was using it. Because of its location that bedroom was also very hot but there is a fan which helped. All in all a great stay and we would come back.
