If you choose to stay at Hope House Stables you will not be disappointed.
An absolute fabulous home, beautiful, calm interior deco and soft furnishings. Top class comfortable bed linen ect. Family board games aplenty. On arrival we (6 young and older female relatives) were stunned by the sight of a mountain of fresh home made scones, some delicious jam and a tub of fine clotted cream! and some milk. Thank you Jane! Unfortunately the weather wasn't brilliant but that didn't stop us getting in the fabulous hot tub many times on our four day stay. Garden birds were many, bobbing in and out of the lovely, good sized garden and patio. Our host Jane was lovely as was her daughter, very helpful. The Mitre Inn, literally next door was very accommodating and we had some fun with the locals and visitors. The village has a shop and post office open until at least 19.00. Plus the 2 Moors cafe, a lovely little village, very nice local people. We didn't leave the village but with Barnstaple and Tiverton a short distance away, the area has a lot to offer. If you decide to visit Tiverton, ignore sat nav instructions and avoid the turn off to Rackenford, it has many large pot holes. We would definitely revisit Hope House if the opportunity arises. We found Shippen cottages to be ideally located in the East Devon countryside surrounded by good walks and plenty to do with the family; Lyme Regis is about twenty minutes away and Exeter half an hour or so to the west.
The towns of Honiton and Axminster are about ten minutes drive so whilst enjoying the peaceful location you are only a few minutes drive from the main south west arterial routes. The cottage itself is well equipped, deceptively spacious and was spotlessly clean. There is underfloor heating throughout which works a treat! Outside there is a good sized child friendly balcony overlooking a secure lawned garden. There are also meadows (where we saw deer) accessed through an adjacent gateway where the owner has thoughtfully mowed a pathway up to a picnic bench (and rope swing) at the top where you can take in the views. The cottages also sit on a bridleway which appears to have little use but is well marked and gives instant access to open countryside and beautiful views along the valley. The owner really has thought of everything, right down to the conveniently placed hose pipe near the front door that we used to rinse off muddy paws! This property ticked all our boxes and I wouldnât hesitate in recommending these cottages to others and will certainly be returning!⦠Thank you for a wonderful stay!

Fantastic house and has everything you need for a comfortable enjoyable stay.
Our teenagers loved the games room in the loft area and we all enjoyed the hot tub! The enclosed garden space was perfect for our energetic dog. The location is perfect to get to Westward Ho beach in about 25 minutes which is a lovely beach as long as youâre mobile enough to get over the cobbled stone wall first and Ilfracombe only half hour away where we took a fabulous speedboat trip. We found a gem of a hotel 5 mins away in Appledore - Durrant hotel I think it was called. They do lovely food and staff are very friendly and helpful itâs dog friendly! Really enjoyed our stay at Seagrass and will be back but just a couple of things would have made it a 10 all round for us, we feel for 4 plus people an extra comfy chair in lounge area or foot stools or pufe would make it more comfortable. There is just 1 TV in lounge which is very small, films we watched in the evening had tops of heads missing!

This was our third time staying at Shippen Cottages, we really enjoy staying here.
The cottages are located in a lovely quiet road that is central to both the coast and inland activities. The owners are lovely and really make us feel so welcome during our stay, Anne is a wonderful baker and there is always a cake there when we arrive. We have been deep sea fishing from Lyme Regis and brought some fish home and cooked it If you enjoy sewing I attended a course in Honiton at a lovely sewing shop .the garden at the cottages is full of birds due to all the feeders,ark the owner provides spotters book and binoculars so relaxing to sit on the deck and look for all the different birds. We saw a gorgeous Woodpecker this time Overall I would highly recommend a stay at the cottages, we loved our stays. We also visited the Donkey Sanctuary which has a marvellous restaurant where we had a great meal. We will be going back again

We had a great week at Seagrass.
The welcoming pack for the family and dog were excellent. The hot tub made a great addition. When we had been on a long walk or bike ride it was nice to relax in when we got back to the cottage. The facilities were good and the cottage had everything you need. The upstairs area came in real handy when the weather wasn't great so you can play table football or board games while you wait for the weather to improve. With shops only 5 minutes away it is in a great location as well. When we arrived however there were quite a few cobwebs that we had to brush/hoover away in the living room and the pillows in the double room could do with renewing as they had lost there softness and were quite flat. Even with these couple of slight issues we would definitely go back and stay again.
