What our customers say about their holidays

    • Jayne - Verified booking

Well, We have nothing but love for this holiday home, and Andrea (the host) what such a lovely and pleasant lady, who literally made it feel like our home for the week.

We were the second family to stay since lockdown restrictions were eased in Wales. The house is just over a year old and was spotless, (even had a fresh paint of coat inside!). Andrea and her husband have thought of everything... washer, dryer, dishwasher, double oven, spacious rooms, log fire. It literally was a luxury to stay here! The children loved playing the games that are provided, and the welcome pack was such a great touch. Milk in the fridge so we literally could relax from the moment we walked in! We were given Andreas mobile number a week before we arrived, so I text to ask if she could recommend a local place to deliver afternoon tea, and when we got there Andrea was on hand to meet us, and was able to recommend a Chinese for the evening. Nothing was ever too much trouble for Andrea. She came to check the hot tub and would stop and have a chat with us. We literally felt like she was our friend, never once made us feel uneasy. I’ve holidayed in North Wales when I was young, and the people we came with us haven’t. They always go to Devon, but have fallen in love with North Wales just as much as I did. We visited Llandbedrog beach (this is a sun trap, with stream for the children to play, cafe and toilets) and popped into Abersoch village after. (Vaynol arms perfect for a little tipple) Dinas Dille beach is close, but very open and windy. We had a visit to Trefor beach. (An old fishing village). The beach is small and quiet and full of lovely views and friendly fishermen - ideal for crabbing. We had a walk around Caernarfon and had a bite to eat at The Anglesey pub. Great views across to Anglesey. Also a small play area opposite The Black Boy pub, which is lovely too. Caernarfon harbour was perfect for crabbing (again recommended by Andrea), and not to worry if you don’t have any crabbing stuff. Kits are available to buy at the shop near the carpark entrance. Morfa Nyfen is another little hidden gem. We walked through the golf course and to the Ty Coch Inn pub. When the tide is out you can walk over to Nyfen beach and round. Again, beautiful views. I never really write reviews, but I haven’t even thought twice about leaving this one. We were lucky to watch the sunset from the cottage. It set just near the gate over the valley. It was amazing! And of course we just loved the hot tub. I could go on forever about this property. It truly is the perfect holiday home... so perfect that we’ve just booked to return...

I filled in an on line form as soon as I arrived.

I also rang the owner. The description on your website is incorrect. If it had been a correct description of the layout I would not have booked it. It says on the ground floor there’s a downstairs bedroom leading to the living room which leads to the kitchen, and there’s three bedrooms on the first floor. So I booked it because I’m disabled and use a wheelchair so everything was on the ground floor for me. But it wasn’t. The kitchen was upstairs so totally ruined Christmas for us as I only went upstairs when two people carried me which was unsafe. One of the elderly couples decided they couldn’t come when I told them about the layout of the property because they originally assumed they’d only have to go upstairs at bedtime. So the cost had to be divided between two parties instead of three, which we wouldn’t have paid if we’d known about it. Your website also states fuel provided so we didn’t take wood, it wasn’t provided so Christmas Eve had to go looking for wood. Contacted the owner who said he would have to contact Sykes about fuel being provided. Also said to him, as it’s Christmas we thought there’d be a Christmas tree up, his reply was I live in Chester, I’m useless (referring to himself). There wasn’t even a piece of tinsel. The downstairs wet room leaked onto the bedroom floor, and we couldn’t turn the heating off so had to go round turning radiators on and off.

Well, what a wonderful week with amazing weather.

The property is stunning, extremely clean with beautiful decor and has everything you need to make your self contained holiday special. The surrounding views and stunning sunsets all add to its beauty. The kitchen is well equipped to cook anything with a lovely welcome pack and an ample choice of shops close by. A very sociable property with a superb log burner. Washing machine, tumble dryer and the washing line that we used. Home from home. We were lucky to climb Snowdon (Llanberis Path)and enjoy its outstanding views and scenery (there is always the train if needed) followed by a much needed soak in the hot tub (towels provided). The stars and shooting stars were amazing. The Goat Inn is a must for Sunday lunch, taxi there and we walked back along the disused railway line. Visit Caernarfon and check out the local butchers. It’s well worth driving the coast taking in the Llyn Peninsula, Porthdinllaen, Morfa Nefyn and Abersoch. Enjoy the quaint Welsh village of Betws-y-Coed and take in the lake walk in a glacial bowl at Cwm Idwal. We finished with Beddgelert, Aberglaslyn and Bryn Du, an amazing National Trust walk, but take a picnic for the top so you can absorb the stunning views including Snowdon. The property ticks all the boxes as do the hosts Andrea, Huw and family. Nothing is too much trouble. Over and above the usual. A beautiful home to holiday in. Thank you so much. G&C P&D.

Andrea and Hugh’s cottage is just gorgeous.

It is beautifully decorated throughout, well equipped and has everything you could need for a self contained holiday. The rooms, particularly the living area are spacious and carefully layed out so that all 8 guests can comfortably be in either the lounge or the kitchen together. The hot tub was a joy with a backdrop of fields and the occasional friendly sheep having a wander over. The views from the windows Down to the bay was glorious at any time of day but the sunsets at night were amazing and not to be missed. The cottage is located well within an easy drive of many beaches, villages and tourists attractions,, but with the bonus of feeling like you are in the middle of nowhere. If you go with little ones, there is plenty of enclosed garden space to play in. This cottage felt really special And more than just a holiday let - Andrea and Hugh have woven in a little bit of their heart into this beautiful house they have built. They have paid such careful attention to detail - communication prior to arriving and during our stay was excellent - Andrea met and showed us around and made us feel immediately comfortable. The welcome pack gifted was really sweet- Welsh cakes, bread, milk, jams tea, coffee, milk, eggs - Thank you so much for such a lovely place to stay - We would love to return in the future. Debbie, Steve, Sarah, Oscar, Zak, Eve, Maddie and Jess.

Loved the location of Castell, it really was a very short walk to ther beach.

This beach however is contantly visited by tractors, taking boats onto and off thre beach, and storing the boat 'trollies' for transport! Some holiday makers had to move to make room for the contraptions! However a nearby beach was much quieter, and could vbe accessed on foot, or a short drive. Castell was a comfortable property, and suited our family mix well. The property was well supplied with kitchen equipment, and utensils, we had everything we needed. The only criticism I had wsas the cleaning of thre property, did lack attention to detail. Behind furniture (Sofa) was found to be very dusty with cobwebs. The areas around skirting boards were also not well cleaned. Shower cubicles showed signs of mould and could have been better cleaned. We did have a very good stay, despite the weather, just need to make sure your cleaners do a better job!
