What our customers say about their holidays

    • Samantha - Verified booking

We let ourselves in and found a lovely room in front of us, with 3 settees and a couple of chairs.

And a lovely looking fireplace. The downstairs loo was a bonus. The kitchen/diner had all we needed, with a lovely welcome package of beer, fizz, biscuits and uht milk in the fridge. We used the smaller bedroom, with the zip and link bed, which was very firm. There was plenty of storage space. You need to make sure the immersion heater is on, otherwise there is no hot water. Though lighting the stove adds to the hot water. We had no issues parking outside. The local pub, a 2 min walk away, serves great simple food, Wed's to Sun. A 1.8 mile walk takes you to the Falcon, in Withernwick. Well worth a visit, the food is great, the staff friendly and the prices are very competitive. Med Mex in Hornsea is good, as is Sonali spice, nearby. A drive to Spurn Point, is well worth the effort, it's an 8.5 mile round trip, with miles of golden sand, fabulous. Bridlington, was closed!, Flamborough a good walk and Filey lovely. The Trans Pendine Trail (TPT) is worth a walk or cycle, though Hull is not nice!! . Ps the outside cycle storage is not ideal, or overly safe, if you have expensive bikes, like us. Consider, carefully, storing them in the property!! We would highly recommend this property, its in a lovely village and area.

We thoroughly enjoyed our weeks stay.

The cottage is very clean and all essentials are there for you. The bed is so comfortable!! You do get alot of flies / wasps but given that the property is on farm land it is understandable. We just bought fly spray. The cottage is lovely and very remote which was great for us as we visited lots of places around east coast that were busy so it was great coming back to the peaceful cottage. Ideal base for exploring the area. The owners live next door and they are so friendly and welcoming, nothing is too much trouble for them. They leave you to your own privacy but are on hand for any advise / help you may require. I would highly recommend and will look to use this property on the future.

Our thanks to Sarah and Adam.

Great place for peace and quiet. The owners are a lovely couple and very welcoming. Rooms are all clean and tidy, with ample storage space, if, like us, you take lots with you. Ample hot water for a bath or using the powerful shower. A great location for quiet walks . A previous reviewer stated they left early as they ‘were bored’, 'no shops or pubs within walking distance'. This is due more to a lack of research by the reviewer and not reading the information on the Sykes website. The website clearly states ‘shop 2.5 miles, pub 3.5 miles’. And as to remoteness, surely you would do a little research before booking a location. We would certainly book again.

The chapel was lovely to stay in, cosy and modern in a beautiful old building.

Like staying in a Grand Designs home! it's been really thought out well with a designer interior and finish. Don't pack the kitchen sink! its well equipped and has an easy to read welcome pack. Just a little thing like having a plug in night light in my bedroom as well as easy to reach bedside lights was much appreciated. Amazing coast and country side around. Loved Hornsea very pretty the Mere, town and seafront, has everything you need 5 minute drive away. Would recommend Pockilngton market and the scenic drive around the wolds and villages as well as Bridlington, almost forgot Beverly too Beautiful! and lots of free parking in towns, makes a difference.

Hope these comments are took as constructive criticism.

Lots of repairs need sorting, outside lights, dangerous path " trip hazard. Garden really untidy, No privacy blind in kitchen or on stairs, bath tap needs replacing, heat regulation doesn't work properly. Could really benefit from a safety hand rail fitted to the wall near bath. Main gate needs mesh on bottom to stop dogs escaping. No Iron or ironing board, hardly any bath towels and no bath sheets at all. Lots of cobwebs in windows, dust everywhere. Many of these things have been reported in visitors book previously. Could be a really great property if the owners spent some TLC on it and they're only next door. Such a shame
