What our customers say about their holidays

    • Kim - Verified booking

Very cosy and comfortable cottage in the bustling village of Addingham.

The weather was cold and wet but the cottage was easy to warm with the log burner, central heating and hot water for baths after the long walks. A very comfortable super king bed and well equipped kitchen. We had trouble with streaming bbc iPlayer via the TV (maybe broadband speed?). Parking not an issue. The road is fairly busy in the day but quietens down at night (being from London it didn’t bother us). The regular bus service was great and we got the bus from near the cottage to Bolton Abbey and ilkley. We drove to Malham about 30 mins away and not to be missed. The village has five pubs (we had good meals at two of them) an Indian takeaway and a well equipped coop. The Swan also does takeaway fish and chips to order.

A lovely clean well appointed cottage.

2 things irked me though. It is clear by reading the visitors book in the cottage that the owners don't take the maintenance of the property seriously. There were still ants in the kitchen (reported by previous visitors). Halfway through our stay I decided to have a bath, albeit not a deep bath it was enough for the water line to touch the overflow. My husband shouts from downstairs that water is pouring through the ceiling. He decides not to shower that day and we report the issue to Sykes as there is no direct contact details for the owner. The response? Along the lines of 'Oh we aren't going to do anything about it. This has happened before. Just don't take a deep bath!' Seriously??!!!

The property was as described and appeared clean internally.

Outside areas were full of weeds, patio furniture was not clean and the windows were dirty. There were ants in the kitchen on arrival and the issue became worse as the week progressed. No contact details were provided for the owner. Contacted Sykes who received feedback from the owner that they failed to relay until prompted two days later. Tried to follow this up with Sykes and the owner but Sykes refused my request to talk to a manager and the owner didn't contact me when I asked to discuss my concerns with them directly. Overall, it's a nice property that would be much nicer with better maintenance, cleaning, and communication from Sykes and the owner.

      The cottage was wonderful.

Really cosy and welcoming with an absolute sun trap of a courtyard garden out the back. The location was great being able to walk to a number of pubs, an excellent Indian take away and a co-op which has all the basics you could need. The smart TV was a godsend in the rain with two teenage children and the kitchen had everything you could need to prepare dinner. Beds were extremely comfortable and although the parking was on the road opposite the property we never had any problem finding a space. A wonderful few days, thank you

The cottage is very characterful and tastefully done up.

It's mostly very comfortable and well-equipped, though there is a mighty draught that comes through the letter box! No information is provided about recycling despite repeated requests in the guest book over the last two years (we took ours home). The position regarding parking also needs to be clarified in the advertisement as the space opposite is far from guaranteed and you often have to park further away.
