What our customers say about their holidays

    • Catherine - Verified booking

We really enjoyed our stay, although the neighbours were extremely difficult.

When we arrived we pulled into the bay by the property to unload our belongings, a young woman from the house in front of the bay immediately came out and shouted at us, she also insulted me when I told her we were only unpacking our stuff, we didn’t plan on parking there. The lady at the back said there’s been a lot of bother from them; however they didn’t bother us again. Then my husband and I were in the kitchen with the door open at the back when a large dog came bounding through the door and tried to attack me, my husband threw water on it and was able to intimidate the dog so that it moved and we managed to barricade ourselves behind the back door until finally my husband closed the door. I was quite shaken by the experience. My husband shouted through the window for the neighbour at the end to get his dog- he didn’t and it continued to bark aggressively at us from behind the door; bearing its teeth and ready to attack when we tried to open/close the door window to shout to the man. He was actually hiding behind his gate as we could see him ducking behind the door. I’m concerned that if I had have been a child or my new 12 week old puppy- this would have been a sad story. I loved the cottage though, so beautiful, comfortable and clean. I would say that I wouldn’t take children or elderly people, just in case. Unless the problem is resolved but how could you resolve this? I would not allow this to stop you renting this property- it really is that good, just be careful about the parking and be careful in the shared backyard where there’s no gate between you and the end neighbours with the dog. (The neighbour has a gate but he’d obviously opened it to let his dog out). Ok, so the garden is absolutely gorgeous, very quirky set up on two/three levels. Lovely lady lives next door feeds the seagulls everyday, be careful there’s loads of them that flock there- not a problem for us as we weren’t home in the morning. BBQ area is pleasantly arranged and plenty of seating and cushions. The lights didn’t work when we were there, but we weren’t in the garden late anyway. Overall I would stay here again because it felt very homely, but I’d be extremely careful out the back door in the communal yard part. We never saw the dog before or after it attacked us. There is a gate on the main garden and it’s one step from the back door. Just be careful as you always are in public areas. And don’t speak to the house on the left of the property, very rude. The heating was perfect, bedding ok, decor and condition of the place was just right and spotlessly clean. In a near perfect location. Two large Terraces that look across the bay- stunning. Thanks again.

Fantastic bungalow in great location to explore.

This is probably the best equipped and cleanest accommodation we have stayed in. Welcome pack of coffee, tea, milk etc for us and treats for our dog, even bowls for food and water just in case they'd been forgotten. Plenty of information from the owners about he accommodation, what's on in the area and useful telephone numbers. A dvd player and vast array of dvds books and games and also Netflix and amazon prime to keep you entertained on an evening or if the weather is bad. We were very lucky with the weather and even had chance to use the bbq that was supplied which was great. Comfy beds and plenty of wardrobe space and the shower was fantastic. Our favourite part was being able to ditch the car and either walk to the beach, which is 5 minutes away or take the trams into Fleetwood and Blackpool. Just a short walk of about 15 minutes down the sea front there is a pub called the Venue. It has inside and outside seating and they are very dog friendly with a separate dining area to accommodate. The food is delicious and they also do small dog meals such as chicken breast or ice cream. All in all a wonderful week away and we will definitely book again.

      We really enjoyed our stay!

Hope Cottage was very comfortable and very well decorated with lovely colour schemes and home comforts. Immaculately clean and tidy. Every thing needed and more, for a short break (or longer stay). Nice touches with the bread, milk, prosecco and dog bowls and treats, much appreciated! Only additions to suggest would be provision of a sieve and a clothes horse! {known as a washing maiden in Lancs?!} For us personally, a double bed was a bit of a squeeze but it was our choice to book somewhere with a double bed but, as above in new immaculate condition. Neighbours polite and offered to be called on if required. Area lovely and quiet. One small issue with the heating was very pleasantly sorted out with a quick visit, and instructions given to reset the system if needed (which we did another couple of times during our stay). Thanks for being so prompt. Thank you for a lovely stay and we hope to visit and stay again in the future. Kind regards, Dave, Heather and Wilf Ryal : ) 24 - 28/11/23

Nice cottage in a good location for exploring Whalley and the Ribble Valley.

Comfortable bed and a great hot shower but felt a couple of things could do with improvement. The settee and some downstairs furnishings were past their best and stained so the cottage was not as clean and fresh as the pictures show. A few logs were left in the basket but not nearly enough for four nights in February. Luckily we brought some with us, along with other "essentials" after reading a previous review. The door lock was a bit tricky sometimes and we could have done with two keys as we could not lock the door if the other person went out. Despite staying in many places, our dog would not settle here for some reason. This meant walks during the night and why another key would have been handy. Obviously that is beyond the owners control but it was unusual and meant we returned home a day early.

A wonderful little bungalow which clearly has been renovated and presented to a great standard throughout, useful off road parking immediately in front of the property and a good back garden ideal for the dog especially late at night and early morning!

Excellent location for lovely dog walks next to the river Wyre and only 15 - 20 minutes for Blackpool centre. We were please with how the house was equipped, the lovely welcome items were also much appreciated too. Of course the property is bijou and whilst for us all was fine, perhaps those older or with some mobility issues may struggle with the bed in terms of the space either side of it when getting in and out, but once in it was very comfortable indeed. A accessible bathroom, well equipped kitchen and cosy lounge. We enjoyed our stay a great deal, thank you for presenting such a wonderfully clean property, the neighbours were also lovely and baked some cakes for us too as well as taking a shine to our German Shepherd!
