The only good thing about this cottage was the cat that visited us daily, he was absolutely gorgeous, aside from his company, the stay was awful.
We had expected more from all the great reviews recently written. The first night, we got into the hottub and immediately my legs started to itch terribly, we didn't stay long in the hottub due to this discomfort and when we got out, our legs were red raw, we immediately attempted to wash what we assumed was too much chlorine off, in the shower but still our legs remained itchy and sore. The shower is a wet room and the flooring is not designed for this purpose, it is so slippery and I ended up slipping and falling on the floor that same evening, fortunately I did not hurt myself too badly. We then decided to have some food, only to find that there was nothing in sight to take anything out of the oven, no oven glove or tea towel so we gave up and went to bed, which was the most uncomfortable experience, the bedding looked as if it should have been thrown away years back. It was awful quality and rough. The next morning, we decided to speak to the owner about the hot tub and then go out for the day and try to make the most of the weekend. We would pick up some tea towels and attempt the hotub again that evening. I will say that the owner was very nice about the hottub situation and did say it would be sorted by the time we got back. Although, she did mention that it had been checked before we arrived. That evening, the owner came to see us and advised us that the hottub had been emptied and refilled and that the issue was that there had been too much chlorine in there (even though it had been checked)? We gave the hot tub another try but didn't last long in there before we had to get out again. I'm not sure if the damage had already been done and our skin could take no more or if the issue had not been resolved. We did not return to the hottub after that, which is a shame as we'd only chosen this cottage due to the covered hot tub. The other issue with our stay was the lack of attention to detail where cleanliness was concerned. The house was generally clean, such as the beds and worktops but the draining board looked as if it had not been cleaned in months and I'd had to scrub it clean to be able to put any clean utensils on it. The bathroom mirror had long hairs all over it and the bathroom walls were mouldy. We had initially thought we would go home on the Friday but decided to make the most of being away by going into Saundersfoot and Tenby but we were really disappointed in this cottage and this put a dampener on the whole weekend. To top it all off, due to the chemical burns from the hot tub, when we got home, our skin was bad for over a week and we had to get treatment from the pharmacy. We will not be visiting this place again. I wasn't going to leave a review but thought people needed to be warned about the hot tub and very dangerous bathroom floor. I'm fortunate that I am quite young and didn't hurt myself when I fell but I would be concerned if this happened to an older person.

This cottage was right up our street, and was hoping it was as described in the listing, which it was.
The cottage was immaculately clean on arrival and even more spacious than viewed from the pictures online. There was only the three of us including dog, but we like our space. The rural location on a farm with horses and dogs was great. Our dog is really hit and miss with other dogs but once she was settled in, she loved the two farm dogs. The younger dog would love to play with our dog when I walked her up the road or down in the extended grounds. Jackie the owner was very friendly and could not have been more helpful. On the day after we arrived she even invited us over to join her and others for a very belated Christmas get together which she had had to postpone from last December, now September, pulled pork baps with salad followed by profiteroles!. We spent some time just chilling and relaxing at the property. The view over the extended grounds with its peaceful and tranquil location were just the job. With the door open to the conservatory it was just nice to sit and listen to the River Corran babbling away as it runs through the grounds. There was a distant thunder storm on the first night but with all the lights off and full view of the sky from the conservatory, we had a show of lightning for most of the evening. We are members of National Trust (NT), so most of our visits were to NT properties or places including Stackpole Quay (and circular walk to the spectacular Barrafundle Beach), Paxton's Tower, Newton House, Dinefwr Grounds and Castle, Calby Woodland Garden, Lawrenny Quay/Claddeau Woods. and Dyffryn Gardens (on our journey home). Other places we visited were the Dylan Thomas history trail in and round Laugharne itself and the Castle with spectacular vies accross the River Taf/estuary. Also for those interested in all types of vehicles and speed, the Museum of Land Speed at Pendine is worth a visit. We had some good food at Poon's in Laugharne (Thai/British street food and breakfasts). Also Indian takeaways both good from Elaichi's and Bombay Spice in St. Clears. Another good place for breakfast (on way to Pendine) is the Stone Range Cafe. Lovely food too at Lawrenny Quay Cafe. All in all a great stay and would definitely consider a returning. We had a very disappointing stay at Corran Cottage, I'm sorry to say.
We really wanted to love this property as we were looking forward to a peaceful and relaxing holiday with our dog. The cottage was advertised as being in a "tranquil setting" with "quiet surroundings", however it was far from this. The cottage is semi-detached; there is a bed and breakfast adjoining the building and guests come and go. This would not ordinarily be a problem but for the owners 2 dogs barking at all arrivals. Also on site is the owners stables and this also resulted in many arrivals and departures, again causing car door slamming and dogs barking. The owner lives opposite the cottage and the lovely garden you see in the pictures of the trees and stream is beautiful, but is also shared with the owner and the B and B guests. There is, therefore, very little privacy in the so called "private" garden for residents of the cottage, as it is overlooked by the extended garden and all who visit it. To make matters worse the owners dogs took exception to anyone using the extended garden, and our dog was jumped on and growled at each time we left the cottage. We also witnessed the same thing happening to residents of the B and B who tried to walk their dog in the extended grounds, so it certainly was not a one-off situation. Each time we left the cottage we had to carry our dog to the car to prevent it being jumped on by the owners dogs. A far from relaxing stay at Corran Cottage and we decided to leave 4 days early, as 3 nights there was far too stressful for us and our dog.

A lovely apartment with fabulous views.
Worth noting that this is up a very step drive and the walk to the town is not to be underestimated! Many facilities were closed in Pendine due to the seasonal nature of the resort. The hot tub, sauna and other facilities in the apartment were a good addition and made for a very relaxing stay. The view is simply wonderful and despite some rainy days, the ever changing landscape never failed to impress. Earlier comments mentioned the decking was a little worn - it looks as if this has been replaced and was new. A few minor niggles:- 1) the underfloor heating was set to 20.5 and there was no instructions on how to alter this. The apartment got quite hot, particularly in the bedroom at night given the boiler was located here. We ended up opening many windows which seemed a waste of electricity. Some instructions in the welcome folder would be great. 2) The cleanliness of the apartment was not up to scratch. The dining and living room tables were sticky and just needed a good clean. There were many cobwebs in the corners of rooms and things generally needed a good deep clean. 3) unlike other Sykes and other holiday cottages, there were no essentials left - no washing liquid, no toilet roll, only three dishwasher tablets for a week. Whilst we accept we will top up, we would expect at least something to get you started.

The property, the view and the hot tub were absolutely fabulous.
Just a few niggling things noted, there was sand in the hot tub prior to us using it. There were lager bottle lids under the outside table, which is suggesting that the area had not been cleaned. The bathroom smelt and felt damp so we left the window to try and air it. I used the jacuzzi bath and ' a plastic, yellow wrapper ' floated in the bath. Thar really did make me feel very uncomfortable. On the right hand side of the bed frame whist I was sleeping my hand touched something sticky. I'm praying that this was just a spilt drink and nothing else, however again not pleasant. The rugs in the bedroom had seen better days. The bedding was quite drab and felt quite worn. Finally the racks inside the fridge were cracked. However, whereas I've highlighted some areas I would like to stress that the property is in an idyllic location. The owners were extremely kind allowing me to bring both of my small dogs with me. The hot tub was checked everyday. The overall theme was this was a relaxing haven. I've stayed in many 5 * properties and with a few tweeks this could step up from 4 to a 5 because of the location, view, hot tub and sauna. Would I stay again? Yes, but I think I would need fully check all areas prior to me merely accepting any hygiene issues. Many thanks
