What our customers say about their holidays

    • Adrian - Verified booking

We loved staying at Grove Cottage!

It was comfortably furnished with a lovely mix of old and new and very well-equipped. On arrival we found a wonderful welcome hamper, plus milk in the fridge, coffee and tea, and a gorgeous homemade victoria sponge. There were also supplies of toilet rolls, handwash, clingfilm and foil, plus cleaning products. The upstairs is quite dinky, just the two bedrooms, the double a good size, the twin fairly compact, but downstairs has been very imaginatively extended to make a very spacious living space. One point that is not mentioned in the details is that, no doubt as a result of extending an old cottage, there are a lot of changes of floor level downstairs, some actual steps, but some just enough to make a trip hazard until you're used to them. Other than that, the cottage is delightful! There was no shortage of hot water and the heating was easy to control (despite it being June, the weather was so chilly we used it selectively morning and evening). The pretty garden, beautifully maintained, was lovely to sit in when we did get some sun and my husband really enjoyed the hot tub. One final positive in our eyes was that all the windows had blinds or, in the case of the large window in the lounge/diner, thick curtains. On a chilly night, it was nice to be able to close off the encroaching darkness, even though the cottage was secluded, but too many holiday cottages seem to think it unnecessary.

      Wow what a brilliant retreat.

Repeat visit required for sure! Grove cottage is a beautiful game keepers cottage, just off the beaten track pretty much secluded, in the grounds of a golf course beautiful decor and amenities. Comfortable, clean and it says come back for more. The hamper was the best we've ever had with any break we've had through Sykes, cake, eggs, bread, snacks etc etc even milk.to enjoy a coffee once we arrived and seeming it was our wedding anniversary break Zena and Roger had left us an extra celebratory gift in the fridge to enjoy toasting in the hot tub later. Thank you :-) We enjoyed our time visited the Hickory stick restaurant for the Wednesday Steak and bowl which we couldn't fault with friends who visited for the day but they also do food through out the day starting with breakfast til 6pm. Recommended to friends already and they will be booking up too. Things we did while there, was a trip to the Newcourt cider just down the road, The Bush Inn for a very different afternoon tea, Monkland cheese dairy, local cosy pub in Leominster the White lion and Coffee, cake and more at St Michael's hospice coffee and books. Sure there's lots more to explore yet that we didn't get to do. We did plan to go to Queenswood park/arboretum and a few walks and a visit to the local deli in town but that'll be on the list next time. As you can see a most enjoyable stay.

Have just stayed at Grove cottage , a lovely cosy 2 bedroom property.

On arrival there was a basket of goodies, biscuits, crisps, eggs, milk, and a fantastic home made cake .The host Zena popped in to check everything was ok .The property is lovely and private up a track that ends at the property .Everything you could want is there if you want to cook up a meal, or ,if not, at the start of the track is the golf driving range where we ate the first night .There is also crazy golf and a bowling alley there.Although secluded you are not far from places such a Leominster,Ludlow and Hereford.Having a hot tub was great as we sipped wine looking up at all the stars in such a black sky, which you don’t get in the city with all the light pollution .The lounge has a log burning fire which made for a cosy atmosphere and I would highly recommend this property as the hosts have thought of everything you may need .

Had a wonderful, relaxing stay in Grove cottage.

We were welcomed by a lovely card, a basket of tasty treats and delicious lemon cake, which was a much needed treat after our long journey to get here. The cottage was clean and well maintained and had everything we needed and the kitchen was very well equipped. The hot tub was a huge bonus and felt very private and secluded of an evening with the garden lights making the space feel cosy. The restaurant at the golf club at the bottom of the track served delicious food and is handy if you don't fancy travelling for food or things to do, but the cottage is also well located for exploring the wider area with plenty of things to see and do a short drive away. The owners provided a folder full of useful information which included nearby attractions and restaurants to visit. Would definitely recommend staying here

      A mixed review from us.

The barn, the view, the cleanliness and equipment provided were absolutely excellent! The hot tub was a lovely bonus! However, there are some negatives from our experience. The flies in the house were an absolute nuisance! Despite keeping everything crumb free they were still everywhere! I know it is near farmland, etc. But it was still not nice. The other negative is how the patio seating area has been done. There is a fence between the next rental barn but if both families are enjoying the seating or hot tub there is very little privacy and if you are unlucky enough to get loud neighbours it isn’t pleasant sharing a small space. Sorry for the negatives because overall we had a fantastic and relaxing time and the barn is stunning.
