What our customers say about their holidays

    • Martin - Verified booking

We've just got back from staying in "Sun Trevor Barn One" for 4 nights in December 2021, and had a great time.

Paul is a great host - very knowledgeable about the local area, lots of recommendations and clearly takes pride in his properties as well as the local area - and rightly so! We stayed in Barn one which is the smallest of the 3 barns but the one with the all important hot tub outside! The barn/cottage was immaculate. Very clean, all new decor and fitted out to a very high standard. It's clear they have invested a lot of money and effort into making this a modern accommodation - it's fitted with everything from Amazon Alexas to a Smart TV to Nest thermostats with underfloor heating, there is everything you need. The outdoor hot tub is very nice. It's a full size tub with the usual controls - but with views over the local mountains that make it special! Paul checks the pH and water level on a daily basis and the water was crystal clear and foam-free throughout our stay. The pub next door is very friendly, and if you can grab a seat on the comfy sofa by the fire, you won't ever want to leave! The Pub Manager is a very friendly chap who clearly knows a lot about the pub trade, as well as being able to take a superb photograph! He gave us some great tips for exploring the local area - Top bloke and a real asset to the pub. The Sun Trevor restaurant is great with a nice selection of wholesome food at fair prices. We ate there for Sunday lunch, which was excellent. Other local places we ate during our trip were Fouzi's (good) and Three Eagles (exceptional) - both in Llangollen. Taxis were a bit tricky to book - The recommended taxi company "Castle Taxis" had switched their phones off and were not responding to messages - but we managed to get very good service from Z-Cars in Llangollen. Each time they turned up in the right place at the right time and were reasonably priced, so give them a try. Llangollen town centre is a 20 minute brisk walk away from Sun Trevor..... the Aqueduct is an hour or so walk (well worth seeing!)....... the quarry is well worth a visit (ask Paul for details of the hidden footpath!)..... and of course the castle is a must-see. The horseshoe pass is also worth a look as well as the Wier. So in summary this is a great accommodation in a lovely area to visit for a short break, with lots to see - and the Sun Trevor is a great place to eat, drink and sleep!

      Loved the cottage in general.

nice and clean. good location, nicely welcomed. everything you need. good internet etc But would not stay again in winter. We had no manual control of the heating. Even though heating was remotely set to 27 degrees ( it never reached 27 degrees - I expect its because its a stone cottage ) , the radiators would go on and off and at times it was just too cold and nothing we could do about it except use blankets in the living room. I understand you don't want heating on full blast - for guest comfort and cost. But in middle of winter every radiator should at least be warm all the time - at times they were stone cold. Try and stay there all day and you will see for your self that it is too cold at times :-) hope to stay again in the summer but will not stay again for our annual Christmas visit to north wales. suggest having couple of electric heaters that guests can use at their own discretion if they want it warmer in winter All the best Paul, Lee and Noah X

Just returned home from a week at Barn 1 and it's one of the best cottages we have ever stayed in.

The owners, Paul and Katy, along with all the staff at the sun trevor pub, were really friendly, nothing was too much for them. The barn was spotless, with lots of basics provided on arrival, including treats for our dog. The hot tub was enjoyed by us all and the beds were comfortable. We enjoyed some nice walks on the canal into local towns and a trip out to chirk, the cake cafe was a nice treat too! We also had a day out in Llanduddno experiencing the cable cars and tram up the great orme. The food in the pub next door was consistently excellent and we even had a go at the charity pub quiz on Wednesday night! All in all an excellent place and we will definitely be back. Thanks paul and katy.

The cottage was one of the best we have stayed in - and we have stayed in many over the years.

The rooms were more spacious than expected, spotlessly clean, had plenty of storage and was equipped to a very good standard with some lovely homely touches. One small issue that we had with the heating (due only to the fact we had a 90 year old with us who felt the chill one cold evening) was sorted within 5 minutes of a phone call to Debbie. Remember to take your slippers as the tiled floor is cold despite the rooms being lovely and cosy. The garden is a real sun trap and completely secure so the dog was able to enjoy it as much as we did. A lovely location, ideal for walking and visits to the coast and surrounding towns. Would definitely book again.

I spent a week for my 60th Birthday at Trevor Barn 1 with my husband, brother and sister in law and I can honestly say we all had an absolutely wonderful time.

From the moment we arrived Katy & Paul could not be more helpful . They are such lovely hosts. The Barn was everything that was described and more ... Very clean, very comfortable , very homely, very warm and well equipped. The hot tub was amazing just what we needed after our lovely scenic long walks . And the iceing on the cake was the absolute delicious food that was served in katy & Paul's pub . We took food with us but ended up eating in the pub 4 nights out of the 7 as the meals were definitely 10 out of 10 and the staff were extremely helpful and friendly . We can truly recommend Trevor Barns and we will be back ... Jan , Cliff, Sue & Dave x
