What our customers say about their holidays

    • Joan - Verified booking

Very well equipped, clean, warm and comfortable house.

The garden is small but well fenced - however the fence is quite low and anyone with a sight hound would need to be watchful when letting them out. The back of the house is close to the main road into Padstow but I didn’t find it at all noisy. I do think that a little more attention needs to be paid to maintenance of the property. The front door key is very temperamental and difficult to lock/unlock. There was one lightbulb in the main lounge light not working on arrival and a second blew whilst I was there, with no spares. On the third day the previously working electric fire suddenly stopped working and on another night the fuse box tripped. My main problem with the house was the drive and parking. The advert states that you approach via a double width drive which you do. Unfortunately it doesn’t say that this then narrows to an awkwardly angled very narrow drive with unforgiving stone walls on one side. If you have a large or a long estate car as I have it is difficult to reverse up or, if you drive in forwards turning your car around in the available space is also very awkward. That said I felt comfortable, warm and safe and would definitely stay again.

Sunbeam Cottage proved to be an absolute delight. It's 2 minutes walk from Padstow Harbour so within easy reach of fabulous views across the River Camel and a huge selection of restaurants, bars and shops. While cute and authentic from the outside, once you're through the front door, Sunbeam Cottage is a 21st century delight. Fabulous curved screen TV and fast wifi in beautifully restored interior with natural stripped wood surfaces and traditional flag stone floors to make a warm and welcoming space. The kitchen has brand new new appliances and the lounge furniture is beautifully coordinated and comfortable. The main bedroom bed is a good size and the en suite bathroom is tiny but spotlessly clean and well equipped. The shower is small and electric but provides a good volume of piping hot water, there is a large bath but we didn't use that (we would have preferred no bath and a larger shower enclosure). To summarise, Sunbeam Cottage is a lovely environment for a couple or young family, I have a feeling we'll be back and I can't wait.

Excellent location, close to bus stop (regular busses) and Tesco store.

Nice sized property. Most suited to 2 adults & 2 children rather than 4 adults. The carpets and 3 piece suite are clean, however, they look dirty because they are very dated! Suite is comfortable to sit in. The microwave should be replaced. It has a crack inside and is rusty around the door. Although the double bed is a standard size, it would not suit larger people. It is very comfortable to sleep on however. I recommend upgrading to a king size especially as there is plenty of room to take it. The kitchen is well equipped with all the pots, pans, crockery, utensils etc that one could need. A dishwasher would be a bonus but is not essential. There is a noticeable damp musty smell in the property which does not completely go away when windows are opened. This is an issue when it is cold outside. This property has tremendous potential, however, it does need updating. I appreciate that this is reflected in the rental fee but I would be prepared to pay more if it were to be done.

A great location for a holiday in Padstow, being only 150-200 metres from the harbour. Plenty of restaurants and pubs offering good food and drink. There is a good radiator heating system and hot water is readily available from the combi-boiler. It should be noted that the cottage is situated on the main route away from the quayside. Due to the nature and layout of the town, deliveries of supplies and waste collections from the retail establishments (including Rick Stein's Bistro opposite the property) resulting in a significant number of commercial vehicle movements which commenced at around 6:30am during our stay over Christmas and (I don't know) but may start even earlier during the busy summer months.

      The property was spotless.

We were told that the main light in the double bedroom wasn’t working but the owner had left our telephone number with an electrician who would get back to us. We are still waiting. The lock on the door was faulty. You could easily open it from the inside, but trying to open it from the outside was a nightmare. We reported this to the owner who said a locksmith would get in touch with us to arrange to sort it out. Again we are still waiting. We stayed there for three weeks. We have stayed at Chiff Chaff quite a few times over the years and have really enjoyed our holidays there, but were really disappointed this time and will definitely not be returning.
