What our customers say about their holidays

    • David - Verified booking

      Lovely holiday at Sunbury Barn.

The barn itself is very clean, modern and stylish with good facilities, in a superb quiet location yet still close to beaches and villages. Nice touch from owners to provide a welcome pack of clotted cream, scones, milk and local apple juice. The living accommodation, being reverse upstairs really works well to take in all the splendid views, fantastic bathroom and hot tub as well as a useful laundry room. The access was a real problem for me, as I have an estate car low to the ground. Not only is the southern access very steep but also very twisty at the start, I felt like Colin McRae(rally driver) getting up it and the north entrance is strictly for tractors, it's just a track with a lot of overgrowth which is not good for your paintwork. I was lucky that the weather was good as I would not have been able to drive up it in the wet. This did not detract from what was a great holiday, I'm just being honest and stating facts, it is not meant as a criticism. The wifi is also hit and miss, maybe because of the location, which can result in no TV signal as well. I've left the best until last and have to mention the two beautiful dogs Maisy and Daisy (mom and daughter), who are the real stars here, so friendly, loving and great fun.

We booked a last minute break at Dune Haven and it was a great choice!

The accommodation has been very tastefully done out with comfortable beds, good quality bedding and comfy sofas. The kitchen was well equipped for cooking in and included a dishwasher and washing machine which is always nice! The outside space was also well thought out with patio table and chairs on a large decked area which was a real sun trap, and also a small lawned area which we also made use of for sunbathing. The hosts also provided a BBQ and charcoal which we made good use of. We were also provided with an excellent welcome hamper of local produce including cornish tea, coffee, fudge and it included doggy treats for Buster dog, who was very appreciative! A nice touch and one of the best welcome hampers we've ever had. The location is ideal too, sitting a couple of minutes drive outside Perranporth which has a lovely beach, some nice little shops and a well stocked Co-op and is 1 min from the road into Newquay, which is 10 mins down the road. There are plenty of tourist attractions nearby so it's ideally placed for a family holiday. We would all recommend this cottage as an excellent base for a holiday, and would certainly book here again.

This is the perfect family/couples retreat.

Situated a little out of town yet easily walkable or a short drive to local pub, shop, beach etc. The residence is situated in the middle of Cornwall so it’s pretty much an hour to everywhere. We spent most of our time exploring the local area & all its gorgeous spring time natural beauty. Although some Cornish roads can be busy and, not particularly safe to walk, I downloaded an app (windymaps) which maps all of the public footpaths making local exploring really easy. The house is finished to a really high standard & comes with everything you’ll need for a home from home stay. We were travelling with our baby & a high chair, cot & stair gate were readily available. Being slightly away from the coast & benefitting from a patio & huge lawn (that gets the sun all day&eve) it is the perfect sun trap. Ideal for the book worm, family games or outdoor cooking. On that note local produce & farm shops are really easy to find from this location. We would highly recommend Sunbury Barn to anyone. The stunning & relaxing views from the hot tub, plus the calm & safe family environment made it a wonderful break for us.

What a beautiful little home from home Dune Haven is.

It’s perfectly located to access the stunning beaches at Perranporth and only a few miles from Newquay. The house itself is really well equipped and is spotlessly clean. It’s perfect for a family because it offers plenty of space for everyone to have their own perfect quiet spot. I loved reading in the conservatory in the late afternoon following a busy day at the beach. Dune Haven is a dog friendly cottage; you really won’t need to bring anything for your four legged friend because Sammy provides dog bowls, towels and treats!!! Plus the rear conservatory entrance is a really excellent space to dry them off (dogs and kids) before they come into the house. The back garden is very secure and it is private, with good quality furniture to dine outdoors, which we did a lot because we had beautiful weather. We’ve stayed in dozens of holiday cottages in the UK and Dune Haven is up there with the best. Thank you Sammy for a perfect stay and for your generous hospitality. The Caseys, Plymouth.

Our stay at Sunbury Barn was amazing.

It was cosy, warm and in the perfect location for visiting nearby towns and beaches. The barn was clean, and welcoming with a cream tea on arrival. The towels were fresh and soft and the hot tub was a perfect addition. We were looked after during the storm that hit and warned that there maybe a power cut. This was an added touch of kindness and allowed us to ensure we were prepared. Local beaches and pubs were lovely too. We would love to visit again next year. The only tiny, small detail that was slightly disappointing was there were no complimentary toiletries as stated in the description. There was an empty box of dishwasher tablets and no hand soap and only one toilet roll. As we arrived really late at night there was chance to rectify this before we went to bed, so first stop was the coop the next morning. Again this wasn't a problem, just a small suggestion.
