What our customers say about their holidays

    • Ms Chris Williams - Verified booking

Overall the cottage was very nice and very clean and was in a good location. We did have a minor issue when we arrived in that there was no power in the kitchen sockets, which meant that the fridge wasn't working. The owner was contacted and she was very apologetic and did quickly sort out someone to come and check it, but after the call was made, I identified what the issue was in the fuse box and fixed it myself, which meant that the issue was resolved and no call out was required. The listing mentioned a Welcome pack would be at the property. This was quite poor with a couple of random items. After speaking with the owner, it seems that this wasn't the standard that was expected by the owner themselves, so I'm not sure what the Welcome pack should have contained. The curtains in the bedrooms could be improved as they are quite light so the bedrooms are quite bright as soon as the sun comes up, which affected our sleep. Heavier curtains would be better. The property could also benefit by having a small tv in the bedrooms and a WiFi booster, as there was no WiFi available in the summer house at the bottom of the garden.

A warm welcome on arrival, and a quiet, warm and comfortable place to spend a few days over Christmas, getting away from it all.

Delicious scones and mince pies waiting in the kitchen too, thank you very much! Plenty of space, especially as there were just the two of us, and big, fluffy, sweet-smelling towels to use after the excellent shower/bath. The mattress was rather firm, but didn’t stop us from sleeping well. Far-ranging views over fields to the front and the back, and a large lawned garden to one side where we saw squirrels and pheasants, plus a woodpecker. Note that the living room chairs showing in the photos have been replaced with two sofas (a two seater and a three seater), so there’s ample seating, and there is a smart tv on which we were able to watch Netflix :-) All in all we were able to spend a very cosy and peaceful few days away from home, which was exactly what we were looking for.

We had a lovely week in Clyde Cottage. Definitely central in Saxmundham. Full of all one could want for equipment and with a simple thermostat system that kept the chill away. Central to our visits to all points of the compass: Southwold, Thorpeness, Aldeburgh, Woodbridge, Framlingham and Bury St Edmunds. My favourite morning stroll was to Carlton (St Peter's) Church, nestling serenely in nearby fields and very photogenic. Nice enough weather to enjoy sitting out in the summer house a couple of times, and very pleasant that was too.

Clyde Cottage was a really pleasant cottage for 3 and a dog. The welcome pack was very well received and even our dog was thought of! Very clean on arrival and despite some home comforts having to have been removed due to COVID-19, the property was spot on for our needs. Gorgeous summer house in the garden gave us a relaxing haven for a cup of tea and a good book. Overall, Clyde Cottage was a fantastic quiet base to explore the local area and close enough to the coast for several day trips there. Many thanks for a wonderful stay.

    • Mr & Mrs Gordon - Verified booking

Clyde Cottage was ideally placed to be able to walk into Saxmundham. There's a Waitrose and Tesco's at the end of the main street. It's a really sweet little cottage with a cottage garden. Very clean and tidy and the kitchen was well equipped. The beds were very comfy! It's street parking but we managed to find a spot all the time we stayed there! Saxmundham very central for visitiing the coast, RSPB Minsmere, Framlingham and although the weather wasn't fantastic we had a fab time!!
