What our customers say about their holidays

    • Lesley - Verified booking

Nice Cottage situated behind owners house.

Parking is really close so unpacking the car is easy. The cottage overall was clean except for the bathroom with the bath in which had dark hairs on the sink, in the bath and bath plug drain (we didn't need to use this bathroom). The cottage is cozy, the lounge furniture is comfortable, the beds are a little on the firm side but comfortable. The Nisa Extra shop nearby is great and had everything we needed. We found some really lovely restaurants the New Celtic in Aberaeron and The Forest Arms in Brechfa well worth booking if you're out that way. There is lots to see and do in the surrounding area. The National Wool Museum is Free to visit and well worth spending a few hours (especially if it's raining) The Cenarth Falls has a lovely river walk and is £3 to park all day, there is a cafe nearby. The Aberaeron road to Aberystwyth has lovely coastal scenery and the A44 from Aberystwyth to Llangurig has breath taking views.

We had a nice stay here but there were a couple of bits that we didn't enjoy.

We were surprised to find that the cottage is in the owners back garden and we had to drive through their entrance to the property to access the cottage. We prefer to be much more isolated on holidays and as others have commented we felt the lack of privacy with some windows not having curtains. This isn't what the photos of the property suggest. We were also very disappointed with the lack of dishwasher and will certainly be checking other properties in future for this. Have never stayed in a cottage without a dishwasher before but have never specifically checked for one either. Our bed was uncomfortable and we struggled to sleep towards the end of our stay. The sofas are also not very comfortable for lounging around on the wet days. The owners were helpful when we had a problem with the water and this was sorted quickly. The area around is beautiful and there is a lot to do so would definitely return to the area.

The accommodation was excellent as were the hosts - you have all the facilities you need, the accommodation is situated in a peaceful location set comfortably away from the owners' property, and the hosts are available if required.

Not many of the pubs that serve food in Llandysul were open when we visited ; the Half Moon for example was only open on Saturday evenings and Sunday lunchtimes. We ate at the Daffodil (a 10 minute drive away), the Bunch of Grapes in Newcastle St Emlyn (c20 minute drive), and the Llwyndafydd Inn (around 5 minutes' away). All were dog friendly and served good food with our favourite being The Daffodil. In terms of beaches we visited Llangrannog, Penbryn (take the coastal path to the beach from the car park rather than the road), New Quay, Mwnt (very picturesque), and Poppit Sands. All these beaches are dog friendly outside of 1st May to 30th September, but most are relatively small so best to visit close to low tide.

This holiday was the best ever holiday we had in the past years with Sykes!

! The barn conversion 'Cilgwyn Bach' would attrack anyone and it is so.... beautiful and the layout of the barn is so welcoming too!! The deco and the furnishings are of a high quality. My two dogs were so thrilled to run around the lovely enclosed garden at the back of the cottage. It gave us peace of mind to leave the dogs to enjoy themselves. We had barbecue and the weather too was in our favour lovely and sunny. Most of all the owners Richard and Elenor were so friendly and helpful.Their hospitality definitely stands out!! No doubt we would definitely be happy to re-book this cottage in the future. It was a lovely peaceful and fun holiday to all of us including the furries!

We stayed at this house for a family funeral.

It was a party aize of 5 adults and 2 children. The house was so well laid out that it was easy to live in and comfortable. There was enough comfortable spaced and facilities for everyone to either be together or be separate (everyone needs quiet time sometimes. The property was so well looked after and so clean. The owners are reachable easily and willing to help with any queries. I would really recommend this property to anyone wishing to visit South Wales pembrokeshire. It is within close proximity to everything you need.. (if you can drive) it is quite private and we didn't want to leave. Thankyou so much to sykes and the owners.we will 100% be staying here again.
