What our customers say about their holidays

    • Steph - Verified booking

The cottage was just perfect for us!

! We are a family of 5 (3 teenage children) and 1 dog. The house was so comfortable and exceptionally well equipped - it literally has everything you could need. We were lucky enough to visit during a very hot week, so every day was around 29 degrees. We ate every meal in the courtyard garden, and it felt like we were abroad. The local beaches were perfect, although Criccieth beach had some jellyfish - we did mainly go to Abersoch beach as we preferred it. Opposite the house there is a beautiful riverside walk which was wonderfully shady for the dog - we all had a dip in the river, which was gorgeous. As it was so hot, we didn’t get to walk as much in Snowdonia as we wanted to, which was a shame. We also weren’t able to eat any meals out as we couldn’t get booked in anywhere - so if you want pub meals - do book in advance. With regard to the cottage, the beds were delightfully comfortable, and the cottage was wonderfully cool, the showers was lovely too and there was plenty of hot water. Apart from the water being very soft and making my hair go all fluffy, I can’t find a single negative to say about our week away!

Absolutely lovely property with stunning views all around.

If you’re looking to get away from it all, then I would highly recommend staying here. The owner, Dilwyn, was a great host. Met us in the village to drive us to the property, as driving directly to it using a sat nav would take us down a difficult road. House was lovely and cosy, had everything we needed for our two day break. The owners left us some cakes and milk in the fridge, as well as other essentials such as tea bags and sugar. The wifi was very good, considering we were in such a rural location. Handy to have sky sports and netflix etc. Hot tub was great, lovely to relax in after a busy day exploring. The location is very rural, but supermarkets and restaurants available within a ten min drive. As Dilwyn the host suggested, always use the sat nav to get to Henllan village first, and then to the cottage so as to avoid the very narrow road. House was spotless, and would definitely return next time we have a few days off. Can’t recommend highly enough. Thank you Dilwyn for everything, much appreciated. Andreas, Michelle and kids

Disappointed that a cottage that promoted a wood burner did not include any wood or even suggestions where to buy it, never had this before with a cottage.

After a long drive and filthy weather nothing would have been better than to light the fire. There is only really seating for 3 which is not really sufficient for a 3 bedroom cottage & the strange leather seat which would probably win a world's most uncomfortable chair competition needs to be binned. We were also very disappointed and amazed that the cottage owners don't care about recycling when it was clearly available they need to think again, Sykes need to get this sorted out and make sure the availability or not of recycling is given prominence. Otherwise the cottage was comfortable and warm in a great location with all the utensils you would need, we pointed out that the aerial connection needs renewing but heard nothing back, which is again disappointing. When it rains the BBC channels distort & freeze and you can't get HD channels. It also appears from the road that the aerial has been blown over slightly.

We had a brilliant weeks stay here but sadly it just wasn't long enough.

Every last attention to detail was taken care of. There were plenty of toys provided for our 2 and a half year old granddaughter and even a nappy bin which was very useful with a 4 month old baby. Stair gates and travel cots provided also meant we didn't have to worry about accidents or bringing these items from home. Having a washer & dryer meant we didn't have mountains of washing to do at home after our holiday. The house is very clean and homely and in a perfect secluded spot, yet the coast and plenty of other attractions were very easily accessible by car. The hot tub was absolutely amazing and used every day for relaxing and star gazing in the evenings. We had a fantastic time and were spoilt by the all round views of rolling countryside. What a beautiful retreat, needless to say we have already booked for next year.

Nice cottage, clean, tidy and well equipped.

It is in a quiet location ideal for exploring the Llyn Peninsula and the northern part of mid-Wales. We had a great stay and much appreciated the welcome pack which included bara brith cake and a bottle of red wine. The garden is fully enclosed and ideal for our two small terriers. Two issues: A parking space is available at the rear of the property but it is very tight to get into unless you have a small car. The other issue is the garden. It is on split levels due to the nature of the terrain. The stairs to the upper level are quite steep and have no handrail so when it is wet (as it was for most of the week we were there) we had to be very cautious when going up and down. Overall, very good and competitively priced. Could be near perfect if the parking and the garden steps were tweaked. Many thanks for a great stay.
