What our customers say about their holidays

    • Ms Amanda Habens - Verified booking

Regarding the cleanliness, we have compiled a list as I feel you need to know. 1. Vacuum cleaner - completely full (we emptied it) 2. Grill pan - not cleaned since last used (we cleaned it) 3. Dishwasher filter was disgusting - it was like glue. Goodness knows when it was last cleaned (I did it of course) 4. Family bathroom toiler not clean (we did it) 5. Extractor hood not working at all 6. Heating unclear, we did our best. When we arrived all the radiators were blazing out heat and it was very hot in the house. The kitchen radiator never turned off 7. The dining table was sticky and the bench - attracting the ants that were in that end of the kitchen (we cleaned it) Given the price of the hire (we have stayed at 3 of your properties in Mumbles) and obviously this is a large house but none of the properties are cheap - I do not expect to have to clean on arrival!! I am happy to pay if the cleaning is thorough and this one was not. Also there was a great deal of dust in the main en suite bedroom where I slept, on the bedhead and bedside tables and the tables had not been moved and cleaned behind for some time. There were children's hairbands on the carpet of the bunk room so had the floor been cleaned? Despite these complaints we had a lovely stay and the weather was very kind, so thank you. PS Some other suggestions in the book by previous guests obviously have not been sorted - the light over the dining table flashing, 1 tea towel was provided but it did not look clean - of course we took our own. Also some spare toilet rolls would be helpful, until you get a chance to shop.

The memory we made at The Cottage is just in simple words ...priceless. Jane made sure right from the start that we would have a very pleasant time at her cottage. We had a lovely welcome basket full of treats and even something for my puppy. That really touched our hearts. The Cottage was in pristine condition and we had absolutely everything we needed there. Only had to buy fresh food. Kitchen was super well equipped and there was also a coffee and hot chocolate machine which my kids enjoyed in the mornings. The Cottage was very spacious and clean and super cozy ....in simple words just a beautiful well maintained home. The views around The Cottage were just unreal and I found exactly what I was searching for ...bliss and peace. Very close to Pontedarvey so extremely convenient for food and goodies shopping. If you are looking to escape the madness of this world but yet be close enough to humanity then this Cottage is the ideal place. I will definitely be going back there again as I left a tiny bit of my heart there. Jane ...no other words for you ...just simply THANK YOU.

Lovely cottage, pretty rooms, lovely views and we were very comfortable.

There was a wood burner which will be really nice in winter but we did not need to use it - it was very cosy. The dining area was spacious and nice. There are some beautiful walks nearby, including a walk through the valley to Port Talbot and the nearby Afan Forest country park. We also enjoyed the South Wales Miner's museum, which was very interesting. The Bethel Chapel cafe is great (open at weekends) and the Teapot a short drive away. Mumbles lovely for a day out. As feedback we could have used a few more kitchen things - a teapot and cafetiere coffee pot would be useful, as the space is perfect for large groups. A bread knife, and knife sharpener would be nice to have and the cutlery wasn't great for e.g. cutting a steak. Also just to note, the utensils are metal and there are a number of lovely new non stick pans, which will get scratched by metal, so some wooden or silicone ones might be good! These are just small things though and we generally really enjoyed cooking and eating at the cottage.

We had a great time staying at Ysgubor Tawe for a much-needed post-lockdown break. Good communications in advance concerning new procedures and a lovely welcome pack on arrival, also lots of useful extras provided by the owner. The accommodation was great for us (2 adults + 2 teenagers); double beds and ensuite bathrooms in every bedroom plus a well-equipped kitchen, and a spacious open plan downstairs all in very good condition and scrupulously clean. We brought bikes with us and were able to use the summerhouse for storage. There is a nice cycle track up and down the valley from Pontardawe, though the hill back up to the farm from the town is a real leg stretcher! Lots of things to do nearby; Swansea and the Gower beaches aren’t too far away, also the Dan-yr-Ogof caves and more cycling and walking in the Afan forest. On the inevitable wet day, the accommodation was spacious enough for us all to just relax in. All in all, highly recommended.

A great property, heavenly for dogs! Extremely quiet (yet close to facilities in nearby village, such as supermarkets and village shops/ takeaways). Open the back door and there is a huge field bordered by mature trees, fabulous view, and at least 4 more fields/ meadows adjoining which are also on the owner's land that you can explore and walk the dog. Homely facilities, Jayne the owner very helpful and friendly. Loads of dog friendly beaches, with no seasonal restrictions, along the south Gower area. A visit to Rhossili Bay is a must, it is beautiful. Take your climbing shoes to scramble over the rocks to Worms Head for stunning scenery at low tide. In the other direction (also about an hour's drive) is Cardiff, a marvellous place. Head for Cardiff Bay. The Dan yr Ogof caves are impressive, definitely worth a visit and not too far. The Cardamon Indian restaurant/ takeaway in Pontadawe (5 min drive) is great.
