What our customers say about their holidays

    • Mrs Wilkinson - Verified booking

Holme Barn is exceptionally well equipped, spacious, comfortable and well located for Hawes and the surrounding area. It is a great advantage to have a parking space next to the cottage in central Hawes. However, the only downside is that the access lane is very narrow and it is quite difficult to manoeuvre anything larger than a mid-sized vehicle into the parking space, especially with the table and chairs and bin store occupying both sides of the parking area. This is not apparent from the cottage description and photos. Great care is needed when using the shower - if the temperature control is turned any higher than lukewarm, the temperature alternates between freezing cold and scalding hot. Overall we very much enjoyed our stay at Holme Barn and would certainly recommend it to anyone wishing to stay in Hawes.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at Wren Cottage for 7 relaxing nights. What a superb little cottage in the heart of Middleham. From the online pictures, I knew that the cottage would be pleasant. To my surprise, it was even better than expected. It is obvious that the cottage has been decorated with love and attention to detail. I adored the double bay windows and tartan accents in the bedroom... such a nice cottage feel. The kitchen was also extremely well appointed. I was surprised to find a freezer (which came in handy for leftovers from the local Indian takeaway). I will definitely recommend Wren Cottage to my friends and family when they visit this beautiful part of the world. Thank you for a great week!

We had an absolutely fantastic stay at Beck House. We were blown away by the beautiful surroundings and amazing walks on the doorstep. We unfortunately only had two nights to play with but we could have easily stayed for a week. A perfect spot to escape our busy lives and base to explore the incredible Yorkshire Dales. We had our dog, Watson, and our 6 month old son with us. Although a short stay, we have some perfect memories that will stay with us forever. We also managed to coincide our stay with very low temperatures (reaching -7 on the first night). The wood burning stove kept us cosy for the entire duration. I would highly recommend Beck House for an escape and base to explore the dales - Thankyou!

Fantastic, jam-packed week away. Gorgeous setting, beautiful, well equipped cottage. Home-from-home. Visited various places - Leyburn, Askrigg, Gayle Falls, Hawes Creamery, Semer Water, Muker, Gunnerside, Sedbergh, Cotter Falls. Great places to eat out that are close by for lunch and evening meals - Kings Arms in Askrigg, Hawes Creamery Cafe, Wensleydale Heifer (lunchtime set menu), Ramsays fish & chip van every Tuesday night in village 4.30-6pm, The Bake-Well cafe Askrigg. Amazing weeks holiday - thank you Alison & Stuart. We will definitely be back again for another relaxing break. Lovely, cosy, clean cottage and little trats provided very much appreciated.

    • Mr Lester - Verified booking

The cottage perfectly suited my stay in regards location and amenities. Everything I needed was provided and a great welcome pack. However, the directions to find the property need to be improved I feel. Eg 'property is behind the Black Bull pub' was not adequate arriving in the dark as I did. It should say, 'to the left of the pub there is a entranceway leading to a farm style gate behind which is a yard with four properties of which Wren cottage is one.' Coincidentally, one evening I met another visitor who couldn't find the next door property (Teal) as it was so dark. Better directions would solve this.

Absolutely, the Yorkshire Dales in North Yorkshire are definitely worth visiting. Known for their breathtaking landscapes, charming villages, and rich cultural heritage, the Dales offer a fantastic experience for outdoor enthusiasts, nature lovers, hikers, and those who enjoy walking.
