What our customers say about their holidays

    • Bryce - Verified booking

      We really enjoyed our stay.

Lodge had everything we needed for a fab stay. Ample parking even with a campervan and a estate car. Kitchen had heeps of utensils and crockery. Dunning is a lovely wee place, some lovely walks around the place. Also played the golf course. Short but tricky with many bunkers and small greens. Even after a large amount of rain, the course was very playable with no water logging. Golf club house served food, was really good. Was limited hours when we were there due to staff. Great par 3 5th, over a small pond, but overall really enjoyed the course. Dunning is also close to Perth and a similar distance to Stirling. Auchterarder is 5 miles away, has a few shop to wander about. The heating in the lodge was grand, beds were comfy as were the showers. Very comfy living room, and a balcony outside to sit on. The site was very clean and tidy. And there was a nice walk around the site which included a pond. Also a great driving road to Yetts of Muckart. Would recommend the lodge and will try and return sometime.Cheers

The property was clean and comfortable There was a folder with details of how to use the various appliances, but not how to use the oven.

Property was advertised as having country views from the patio and french windows, however there were no views as large beech trees came right up to the edge of the patio. This made it dark and unusable and the inside also dark. This was disappointing as this was the reason I chose Avonal Lodge in the first place. Suggest that either trees are trimmed or property details updated. There were perfume sticks in several of the rooms and the bedding had been washed with perfumed soap powder. These aggravated my husband's eczema and asthma and he had to sleep on the sofa. Not the best holiday accommodation we have ever had. We will not be returning. my husband had to sleep on the couch because of the perfumed bedding. There was no countryside view from the patio or french windows as large

We had a lovely relaxing stay at this lodge.

Beautiful and tranquil area. The lodge was so comfortable and felt like a touch of luxury despite being a mobile home . The furnishings and layout were just perfect for our family of 4 . Both bathrooms are spotless and the shower was better than at home , really powerful and spacious. Positioned in a quiet plot on a small site with lovely local walks round about. A large pond to walk around which graced us with a swan and sygnets and a flying heron ! Dunning is a lovely village and I recommend a visit to the Kirkstyle inn, drinks in the beer garden or some food in the restaurant both were great. A truly welcomed break amongst the madness of COVID-19. A thankful NHS worker .

      The setting was very peaceful.

The chalet was well laid out. The heating was totally inadequate and at the end of September it was pretty cold. The duvet was flimsy and I'm glad we had an extra blanket from the car. They left £5 in single pound coins for each day, which was fine, we put in more than double that again and it was still cool. Please don't advertise that there is wifi. There was no Wi-Fi at all. Tried several times each day. I was hoping in the peace and quiet of doing a little research. I would rather. That said we did enjoy our Arran visit. I love these chalets and their location, they have huge potential with a little bit of serious TLC . This wee complex could be so beautiful

Great place to stay just such a shame about the weather.

Welcome pack for us & our dog was very nice touch. On Sykes website it says gated deck & then it says be aware deck is not gated but it is so dog can be secured on deck. The only thing that was a bit misleading was that until we got there we didn't know that we would have to take our dog offsite to toilet him. There are plenty of walks & generally thus wouldn't be a problem but most days it was torrential rain so this wasn't ideal. Also a little bit of information about how to use microwave, what to do with rubbish etc eoukd have been useful. These are only minor issues but otherwise can't recommend the property more highly & would love to stay here again.
