What our customers say about their holidays

    • Michael - Verified booking

For relaxation the place is on point as very quiet.

Some of what I’m about to complain about may sound petty but when you review places you have to put warts and all into it. When arriving you approach a barrier which you have to get out the car and press the ring doorbell for someone to open it. Staff seemed friendly enough to check in then You have to pay a deposit for breakages etc £75 and sign sheet, then given a folder of rules and what to do etc . The park has minimum lighting so when it’s dark it’s dark, you need a torch to walk your dog literally, we had rain (as we do) and areas around the park did get flooded so you definitely need some good footwear. Lodge was rented as luxury which was good enough to live in but had a feel of an old peoples home. Cleanliness was not up to scratch as dust on skirting boards, central heating dial and windows hadn’t been cleaned. Hot tub - on settling into the lodge we had a visit from maintenance to show us how to use the tub which was a good touch if you hadn’t used one before, tub was adequate although the step up to it was not fixed down and made of wooden decking so was really slippy. Didn’t see a maintenance guy at our Hot tub from Friday to Friday to check levels etc, I’ve seen this at other places so would have expected to see someone. WiFi is very limited, it’s free to connect if you sit outside reception but when you move you are on your own data which again can be intermittent. Tv in lodge living room was adequate, smart tv. Tv in bedroom wasn’t worth turning on as pixelated and buffered a lot so didn’t use it. We noticed you could connect to the lodge WiFi but didn’t have a password which was strange if you were actually staying in there. The Croft pub on site was a lovely place to eat and drink with the prices suprisingly reasonable, although it wasn’t open everyday and after new year it was closed for 2 weeks for staff holidays which is fair enough but this was not bought to our attention so had to go off site if wanted to eat out or go for a drink. There is no shop on site even just for essentials, you had to go off site which was about 5 min drive. It’s the second place I’ve been to in 6months that doesn’t have an onsite shop which I think is very strange..is this the new thing? There are no dog waste bins around the park only in an exercise area which is not gated off. Recycling or waste bins were no where to be seen around where we stayed so had to leave rubbish in waste bin around by hot tub ( apparently there are some but a long walk from lodges where we stayed. Upon leaving they require you to basically put everything back where it belongs and clean as you arrived this included taking all covers off beds and pillowcases and put in bags provided ( I’ve never had to do this when paying a good amount of money to stay somewhere), leave clean yes we always do as that’s in my nature but to strip beds and make sure all is correct no. When checking out it was a frosty morning and the drive to reception was treacherous and hadn’t been gritted at all, when handed keys there wasn’t much interaction with usual how was your stay, hope you enjoyed it but nothing… All in all it felt like a place that hadn’t finished areas off and decor in lodges are basic for luxury. Recycling looked a big issue as no waste bins in sight. As mentioned at beginning people this is only our feedback as we look for these issues to hopefully give the owners a view from outside and you as possible holiday makers a good insight into holidaying.

      Brilliant break away!

The only thing I can critize is the lack of signs directing you into the park from the village, there's one sign on a lamppost but it's easy to miss and the postcode we received did not take us to the park. However, after a quick look on Google we managed to find out way there. The park is clean, tidy and well maintained. The lodge was immaculate and the hot tub was already turned on and up heat when we arrived. The staff were really friendly and helpful and advised us on some great stuff to do and see while we stayed. The restaurant is small but after reading some rave reviews it didn't not disappoint the Sunday lunch is beautiful and very reasonably priced. I even managed to squeeze a good day's fishing in on a well stocked lake with plenty of fish caught. This park would not suite all audiences, it is adults only and would not suite certain parties such as hen/stag weekends as there is not a lot of night life in the village and the park bar is attached to the restaurant. However, for a nice relaxing break to escape and just relax this is the best Park to go!

We have stayed in a number of cottages over the years, but I have to say that our stay here was without doubt THE perfect break that we have always been looking for!

The most wonderful hosts you could ever wish to meet, made us feel completely at ease and extremely welcome. As for the cottage itself, we have never found our all perfect cottage, until we came across this beautiful and idyllic place. Perfectly set within a wooded area, looking out onto hilly forests and mature trees. But our delight was in the particular wildflower area directly outside our lodge. With the serenity and the beauty of the wildlife that it attracted was truly a most beautiful source of much needed relaxation to us both. We spent the majority of our evenings sitting outside in front of the chimnea having drinks and listening to the wildlife until the early hours. We have never experienced or enjoyed a holiday so peaceful and relaxing as this, and we didn’t realise how much we needed to until we got here! We cannot recommend this lodge highly enough, especially for people wanting to recharge and get away from it all! We most definitely will return and look forward to it!

      Perfect hosts!

Perfect lodge! On arrival Joy and Francis were there to greet us. They are both extremely friendly and helpful. We were blown away by the standard of the accommodation. We had Prosecco in the fridge along with milk, olives, coffee and chocolate. We had shopped en route and prepared a simple supper and sat in the garden. We had a walk around the grounds and then slept soundly in the very comfy bed.
Saturday we went into Bishops Castle and had lunch at the Chai shop. Tina is an amazing host and very good Indian cook. We also had a drink in the oldest licensed brewery in England.
The local walks are great and easy to walk the area around the lodge. The local vineyard in Montgomery is lovely, tasted wine and had lunch.
The lodge is in a very central position for lots of activities. Both Francis and Joy recommend Kerrys ridge which had amazing views.
We can’t recommend this place enough. We will definitely return. Thanks for a wonderful week!

Cottage and facilities met expectations of information listed for a luxury lodge, however there were quite a few restrictions on use of facilities.

For example, hot tub rules, car access and the cafe was closed, even for takeout snacks (other than ice cream). This didn't actually effect our holiday but worth being clear for others. Also the restaurant opening times and checkout times had conflicting information causing some confusion as what is printed/advertised is not what we were verbally told (after the fact for the checkout which was the only real negative point of the stay as we felt we were rushed out before the printed time). The welcome prosecco and provided essentials (e.g. dishwasher tablets, fairy liquid, shower gel, hairdryer), over and above what was listed were a pleasant surprise and could help if advertised. The Croft restaurant deserves a special mention as this was extremely nice. We ate here on numerous occasions during our stay and enjoyed each and every meal - definitely worthwhile visiting but recommend booking.
