    Clitheroe Holiday Cottages

Nestled in the Ribble Valley of Lancashire you’ll find Clitheroe, an ancient market town. Visitors often enjoy exploring the nearby Forest of Bowland, which is one of England’s 36 designated Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Today, the town primarily caters for tourists, but it's been standing since the Saxon period. The 12th-century Norman Castle still towers over the landscape, but it’s believed Clitheroe was in existence for almost 1,000 years before the castle was built. Now home to a museum and 16 acres of beautifully landscaped gardens, visitors can lose themselves in history, heritage, and unique flora. Four circular walks wind through the town. After a stroll, it’s worth visiting the award-winning Byrnes Wine Shop, famous for its unusual vintages.

At Snaptrip our selection of holiday cottages in Clitheroe includes options with every luxury you can imagine, from swimming pools to fire pits. We also have cottages that welcome pets and provide excellent disabled facilities. Our cottages are hand-picked for their style, character and comfort.

We offer thousands of properties across the UK, backed by our unbeatable best price guarantee and help from our friendly customer service team. Why not book a break today in beautiful, historic Clitheroe?

What our customers say about their holidays

    • Sally - Verified booking

The property has been renovated to a very high standard and has the feel of a boutique hotel.

The beds were extremely comfortable and we all slept well. The main living area is much lighter and brighter than it looks in the pictures, but our small dog did not appreciate the glass doors in the main downstairs living area - he walked into them quite hard twice so we had to leave them permanently open and keep something in front of them at all times. The bathrooms are very tight if like my husband you are tall and rather portly (the large feathered bird ornaments were very awkward for him when drying himself after squeezing out of the shower). My mother-in-law and I, though, delighted in the beautiful wallpaper and had no problems with the small space. Whalley is lovely and we would highly recommend the butcher and the wine bar, but parking can be a bit of a problem. We did manage to park outside the property all but 2 of the days, but on the 2 we couldn't we did have to park quite a way away. It's a busy little place! We did feel some more accessible coat hooks would have been advantageous - it was drizzly while we were there and the only place to put a damp coat was either on the back of a dining chair or in a cupboard marked for coats and boots that you needed to be very slim and a contortionist to access (squeezing behind a sofa in front of a tv with a standard lamp blocking the opening of the door). We very much enjoyed our stay and felt the cottage was well-priced. We would definitely recommend it.

My husband and I and our 2 dogs had a lovely stay at No.

10 - we had a wonderful time at this cozy cottage in the pretty village of Whalley. The advertisement of the property, facilities and location are all accurate and matched our expectations. The cottage was very comfortable and well-equipped, and we enjoyed the welcome hamper with treats for both us and our two mini dachshunds. The owners contacted us via text to check everything was ok on arrival and were on hand for anything needed. The village has lots of pubs, restaurants and little shops to explore, and there was a SPAR and a COOP on the doorstep for any groceries we needed. We ordered a couple of lovely takeaways so if you don’t fancy cooking you don’t have to with all the amenities nearby. The weather was rainy for most of our stay, but we didn’t mind as there were lots of lovely walks nearby, either walking distance or a short car ride away. When we returned to the cottage, we had plenty of entertainment options with board games, books, and access to Netflix, Apple, Disney and Prime. We stayed for six nights and it was the perfect way to celebrate the new year. We highly recommend this home stay to anyone looking for a relaxing and enjoyable break with or without your furry friends.

We visited Skirden View cottage for a home away from home trip with our dog.

We often eye up small cottages that have a modern feel, quiet sites and beautiful views, and this location was just the option we needed. We took full advantage of the hot tub facilities in the good weather, despite there being no covering over the hot tub, it was a beautiful view looking over the fields and the animals past the farm. The amenities and welcome hamper were so well thought out, and most items of household goods in the kitchen/living space were available, especially if you have booked a longer stay. We visited lots of the local pubs, especially the local, The Spread Eagle for a few meals. They were very welcoming, had a great variety of theme nights, good food/drink and dog friendly! If you are looking for somewhere to go for nice walks within a 30 minute drive, Bolton Abbey Ruins and Malham Cove (for any of you Harry Potter fans) were well worth the tough walks - make sure to bring walking boots! We would definitely look to come back to this location again, and thank the hosts for an amazing stay. Thank you!

On entering this property first reaction is “wow” , hats off to the designer, stunning.

Owners have thought of everything to make your stay so comfortable.Welcome pack a nice touch, even a pint of milk in the fridge, thoughtful. Property is extremely well equipped, kitchen has everything you will ever need, not that we cooked anything as lots of bars and restaurants on the doorstep, perfect location, nearest supermarket just outside the properties rear gate. Four of us were there for a week and had glorious weather, the rear courtyard was well used, a little private sun trap, with table and chairs, this had it’s very own outside toilet, very handy. Next to this was was laundry room, washer and drier, again we never used this ,but yes, thought of everything. Would I recommend this to anyone..110% Would I stay here again….didn’t want to leave. Well done Philip and Judi, keep up the good work , again, “WOW”

We spent a long weekend in Whalley to introduce some friends to the Ribble Valley.

What an unexpected and added bonus this cottage was. Quiet location (apart from the church bells on Sunday morning but what a lovely sound), beautifully furnished and the decoration was stunning. It was well-equipped throughout, especially the kitchen, with a pretty courtyard garden to the rear. It far surpassed any of the rentals we have stayed in previously. Only one point to note - if there are 4 people staying, the bedroom at the back is smaller than the front room with limited space. Whalley itself is a great base for exploring the area. Plenty of pubs, bars, restaurants and takeaways though booking is a must especially at weekends. The train station is only a ten minute walk so easy to get into Clitheroe for a bit of variety. Highly recommended property if visiting the area.
