About this property

A nautical playground with a beach, water sports and fabulous coastal walks close by, stay on the Shotley Peninsula and get to know this fabulous portion of Suffolk’s heritage coast. Surrounded by ample walking territory and splendid sights, this single-storey cottage will accommodate any four guests and two dogs in a glorious getaway, a favourable choice for families or friends. Spend plenty of time curled up indoors, basking in the warmth of the wood burner after long days in wetsuits and life jackets, out exploring river and reservoir waters.

Utterly charming with original exposed brick and extremely comfortable interiors, this three-bedroom cottage is a delightful choice. Get together in the lounge with soft seating, pretty views, and a TV for the most snuggly nights in. These evenings are best enjoyed with a hearty meal on the way, and the kitchen/diner next door invites you to rustle up something delicious. In the summer, feel free to step out into the garden via the lounge and appreciate dining on the patio. Back indoors, three bedrooms invite you to steal away for a quality night’s sleep. A double is made for sharers and two snug single bedrooms offer peace and quiet to younger guests. All three bedrooms are finally served by a family bathroom.

Pop on your walking boots and head out to admire the unforgettable scenery that sits close by. Wander through Chelmondiston, past a village pub (0.5 miles), and along to Pin Mill (1 mile), a National Trust hot spot with remarkable River Orwell views and nature trails through magical woodlands. The village is also home to a local equestrian centre (1 mile) offering horse riding lessons and hacks. A little further inland, visit the Alton Water Centre on the edge of the Alton Reservoir (4.5 miles), a place for guided expeditions in kayaking, canoeing, paddleboarding and more.

A compact 3 bed property in a nice location with plenty of well waymarked walking close by. Handy for exploring Ipswich, Felixstowe, Harwich and the Suffolk/Essex borders. Good pubs locally and close to Flatford and Pin Mills as well as Sutton Hoo and the Suffolk Punch Trust Farm. The property itself is comfortable, facilities adequate although it has to be said that we had to clean before we could unpack which somewhat spoiled the start of the holiday.

Excellent location. Not a fenced in garden, but open to the farm area around the cottage, leading to good walks with the dog, but we could not leave a door open or the dog unsupervised. Enough space for four, basic amenities, but all that is needed for a simple holiday. Comfortable sofa and chairs. Shower was okay for pressure, bathroom had all we required. Good off street parking, easy to get around from that location, there is a lot within 45 minutes of the cottage. Recommend Jimmy’s Farm, Lavenham and Helmingham Hall.
