The apartment was fantastic and exceeded our expectations.
Very comfortable, lovely rooms, very well equipped and two wonderful large outdoor patios. Amazing views and convenient location. In our opinion the listing online doesn't do the place justice and from looking at the photos we had assumed the front patio was tiny - it isn't - it is large with a big glass table with seating for 8 and two sunloungers. The back patio is the same size with seating and an excellent barbeque. On the photos it also looked like the main bedroom was pretty small with little hanging space for clothes, but all the bedrooms are large and have plenty of room. The kitchen is very cleverly designed and has everything you could need. I came to the reviews before our visit to find answers reguardng what was provided (tried C&C but they didn't know and the lady who answered the phone didn't know Salcombe). So hopefully readers will find this helpful. Included was soap for each sink, teatowels, dishcloth, washing up liquid, hairdryers for each room, additional throws for each bed (which were made up with duvets), a starter kit of a few dishwasher tabs, and a few loo rolls. There were two coffee makers - filter and pod (standard nespresso compatible). The parking permit is for Shadycombe Road, Creek and North Sands. It's not realistically possible to park outside to unload in main season in an afternoon (just too many people walking along the pavement) but you can park just round the corner by the slipway (opposite the butchers) which is only a short walk away.. The only downside was that the road noise really carried up to the bedrooms (front and back) and it was pretty noisy when people came out of the pubs and then deliveries and road sweeping also started pretty early. However the location was also a bonus as it was just so convenient to be right in the town and worked well for a family with adult children as everyone could come and go as they pleased. It was a great base for exploring - we know the area well but rarely took the car out and instead used the ferries and foot to get about. Lovely walks to Gara Rock, Snapes Point, Bolt Head and lots of afternoons on the beach at Sunny Cove, just about catching the last ferry back across! All in all a great place to stay and we would recommend.

The property was adequate, we were a party of two.
Although the property can accommodate 4 people it would be tight especially when accessing bathroom and toilet facilities. It is ideal for 2 persons. There were a few little niggles, broken outdoor security light, wall utility light still not working, shower light not working and the cooker hob left in âlockedâ mode. We did question amongst ourselves what responsibility the letting agents have in actively monitoring equipment and checking any outages during the handover period. We got the distinct impression that the letting agents were very much reactive while clients have to be proactive. Some foodstuffs were left in the cupboard we certainly would have not used them. Personally, I think all foodstuffs left by clients must be removed by the letting agents. How old the half bottle of tomato ketchup was who knows? Allowing foodstuffs to be re-used is against Food Hygiene Regulations and unquestionably undesirable during a Covid-19 pandemic. However, these âlittle nigglesâ did not detract from what was an enjoyable week. We essentially used it as a âbolt-holeâ and ate out every night. It was clean we did not experience any obnoxious smells. The dedicated parking space was a bonus, as parking in Salcombe is always difficult. The equipment was extensive, it would have been useful if the hair dryer had been listed along with the folding deckchairs, as we travelled with these items. The view from the garden was delightful looking over the rolling hills of South Devon. The garden was reasonably well maintained and had a good level of privacy. The town centre is about ½ mile from the property and there some steep inclines, no problem for ourselves, but could be an issue for potential clients.

Positives: great location, really useful having a parking space, a well-equipped kitchen, very good walk-in shower, and a lovely garden with an amazing view.
Friendly owner who provided some local tips eg nearby outdoor pool and helpful short-cut to the closest beach. Problems: As per a previous review, flat needs to be cleaned better, there was a lot of dust and cobwebs in corners, and smell of damp. Bedrooms are very small with old doors that do not fit well, and the double bedroom has a cupboard so close to the door that it is difficult to enter the room (especially with a suitcase). The toilet-roll holder in the bathroom is precariously attached to the wall with a sucker. Owner forgot to tell us that the washing machine - advertised in the listing - was out of action and in the process of being replaced, we only realised when we were about to use it. Cleaner had left dirty towels in the disconnected machine as well. We had to ring the owner to find out what was going on, and he promised the new machine would be fitted two days before our departure, but then rang to say plumber had cancelled. He informed us about another washing machine in the property upstairs - it would have been better to tell us about all of this at the start of our stay. Please note that the owner needs to amend his email address in the information booklet in the flat (correct address ends with .co.uk, not .com). All in all, while the location is excellent, the flat is a bit overpriced for the condition it's in.

Thank you very much for sharing your beautiful apartment.
The location is the best in the world! My father & I sailed in the Club Regatta for many years in the 70âs & 80âs & often used The Salcombe as our base. This was the first year we have come to the Town Regatta and the positioning to watch the fireworks was the best we could have asked for. We even joined in the light extravaganza & put LED lights on the balcony. The apartment is perfectly situated & presented with all the accoutrements necessary for a perfect stay. We wanted for nothing as it was so well equipped. 3 small points which could be considered: 1. Recommend double or triple glazing on the Fore Street side (or suggest ear plugs to guests) as the noise from people on the street was not compatible with sleep until after approx 2am 2. Both my father & I found the sofas rather messed with our backs as were low and soft. 3. To cater for 6 (we only had 4) the fridge could do with being a tad bigger as you canât get 2 litres of milk in there without using up half the fridge space. (These are not meant as criticisms as we managed ok but more ideas to make it 10/10) The apartment was truly delightful and we enjoyed our stay immensely. You have wonderful taste! Thank you

Difficult to add to Kathryn's spot on feedback from 2022.
Glorious apartment. With the living area situated between large front and rear balconies (with large glass patio doors either side) you get all round views of the estuary and town whether you are sitting inside or out. It is also a rare treat in Salcombe to have balconies which allow you to benefit from both the morning and afternoon sun. I would agree with Bruce (again 2022) that a handrail on the first flight of stairs within the apartment would be helpful and a year later I can confirm that the toilet in the shower room still doesn't flush very well! Point for customers to note, too - we counted 50 steps up from street level to the 2nd floor living area (which was hard going, but in our view, a price worth paying). I would stress that these are very much minor points - we enjoyed the property so much that before we left Salcombe we rebooked it for next year!
