Beechwood Vista is a very comfortable, well-equipped property in a quiet road with a magnificent view across part of the North York Moors National Park through the sitting-room window.

There is an open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner with plenty of empty cupboard space in the kitchen. The bedroom also faces the North York Moors and has plenty of storage space. The bathroom is spacious and the shower is amazing. There is a knack to flushing the toilet but my husband soon sussed that out (hold the button down for as long as you can!) We didn't go upstairs as there were only 2 of us and I saw no need, in that case, to brave the paddle stairs! The cottage was warm and cost although we didn't the warmth as the week wore on! We were lucky in that the bottom flat was unoccupied so we didn't need to park beneath the pesky pigeon tree nor worry about whether any noise that we made was disturbing anyone beneath us. We only had noise disturbance one night when an inconsiderate person was driving round and round in their very noisy car at 1 a.m.for quite a while but, apart from that, the peace and quiet was constant. Beechwood Vista is a short walk to the main road where the no 10 bus goes into Scarborough every 30 minutes and the X93/94 goes regularly in the opposite direction towards Whitby. The Whitby bus (10a.m) was only a single Decker and was standing room only so we only did that trip once and used the Whitby park and ride service after that. Nearby attractions are Whitby, Scarborough, Flamingo Land, North York Moors Railway and Mathewsons Car Auctions Showrooms (open to the public two weeks before each auction)- if you are a fan of the TV programme "Bangers and Cash"! We had a brilliant 5 days here and would definitely return-if the bottom flat was unoccupied again. Beechwood Vista was amongst one of the best holiday homes that we have stayed in so far.

A lovely comfortable, clean apartment with beautiful views out of the windows.

Spoilt a little by trees either side if the window blocking the view. The parking space was tight and due to birds in the over-hanging branches, our car had ti be cleaned of bird poo every day. This was annoying as was the fact we could not avoid walking in it and treading it into the car. Two of the mugs had to be put in soak as they had what looked like dried on soup on the insides. We felt the frying pans are not fit for purpose and the cutlery is flimsy. The switch on the lamp at the side of the sofa was crackling. Not wanting to climb behind the sofa to unplug it, we pulled the extension cable plug out of the socket, not realising the hub also served the apartment below us. We are not computer literate. The next day the owner of property came and pointed out to us there was a sticker on the plug instructing us not to un-plug it. However we would have had to get on our knees to read it and it still would have been difficult as the sticker went around the sides of the plug. We did apologise and explained why we pulled the plug. A suggestion we would like to make is; instead if stickers on switches, some information on a board near the front door and some in a black folder, maybe put all of the do's and don'ts in the black folder, including that the hub serves both apartments. Put a note on the bord by the front door directing visitors to the black folder.

In general we had a great stay.

The location and comfort of the property was great. What let it down was the cleanliness of the kitchen. The grill pan hadn’t been cleaned and still had foil in it, the chopping board was grubby and smelled, all of the cutlery was worn/wobbly and difficult to eat with and the drainers in/on the sink were both dirty. The shower could do with a new curtain as it was also grubby and it was difficult to shower without it sticking to you. The rest of the property was pretty clean with just a few dusty areas. There were also cobwebs down the back of the bed where the plug sockets were. Positively the view is amazing, and the conservatory was a nice addition. The parking is quite tight, especially if there is a car in the other space. Also if you park under the tree be prepared for a significant amount of bird droppings on your car. There is plenty of space on the road outside to park.

My wife and I had a really relaxing week in the property.

We loved the unexpected view across the moors, woods, fields and sheep over the other side of the road and watched the sun go down most nights. Bearing in mind the cost of energy now, I was a bit concerned on the owner's behalf at the way the heating and hot water have been set up. The room thermostat is positioned on the cold stairs meaning the pump was running all the first night until I learnt to turn the thermostat right down each night and when we went out. Plus the hot water was unnecessarily hot. The boiler temperatures and settings could do with some adjustments. I put some suggestions in the review book in the lounge. Our only criticism of the flat is that the cutlery could do with upgrading as it is very flimsy and some of the handles are falling off! Otherwise a brilliant week in a great apartment.

A lovely apartment in a great location, just a short walk to Peasholm Park, Miniature Railway and North Bay Beach. Well equipped and comfortable with lovely views out to sea from the kitchen and living room. We had many days on the beach and took the train to the sealife centre. Ventured down to the South bay to see the lifeboat and amusements. Great selection of takeaways near by. The waterfront cafe is lovely and just down the costal path from Lilian’s View. Private parking with EV charger available to use over night. The apartment has a selection of board games and books for all ages so ideal for families. Our second stay here and I’m sure we’ll be back.
