What our customers say about their holidays

A little gem in the Dales.

I'm afraid I'm a bit late posting this review due to unexpected circumstances on our return home. Nevertheless, this does not distract from what a a fantastic little cottage East House is. The first thing that hits you (once you've squeezed the car round the corners into the parking space!) is the high standard of presentation. Spotlessly clean, cheese and milk waiting for you, lovely bed linin and just mind blowingly comfortable. The kitchen is very well appointed with virtually every thing you need. The fridge however, is quite small and there is just an ice box to keep things frozen. The number of walks from the cottage are stunning. We recommend walking into Hawes either along the road or over the fields from the viaduct as parking in town is horrendous. Keeps you fit too. The small enclosed garden, with enough seating for four is north facing. So if you're hoping to catch the evening sun with your G&T after a days hiking, you've had it. So would we recommend East House? As a couple, without a shadow of a doubt. Three or four, might be a bit of a tight fit but as there were just the two of us, I'd leave others to comment on that. Would we go again? We've booked it for a week in spring 2022 and cannot wait!

We returned for another fabulous week at East House.

We experienced all the seasons in 7 days; arriving in shorts and t-shirts and having to buy sun cream on the Saturday, heavy rain on the Tuesday and woke up to two inches of snow on the Thursday! Katy and Barny have made a number of improvements to East House since our last stay in July so it's even better! The underfloor heating came into its own during the cold snap. Very welcoming when you come off the fells in the snow. As has been said before, there are numerous walks from the cottage and there's plenty of literature in the lounge to plan your sojourns. The cottage was spotlessly clean on our arrival and a very nice welcome pack waiting for us. I have suggested that the ice tray be filled for guests arrival. After a long hot drive a warm G&T did quite fit the bill! East House is perfect for a couple wanting to just get away from it all for a week. With the bunk beds on the ground floor it does cater for four guests but we think that that might be a wee bit tight. As I said, another fabulous week in a fabulous cottage in the stunning Yorkshire Dales. Will we be back? You bet we will!!

      The lovely Yorkshire Dales!

We chose Sykes as there was a good choice of cottages in the area we chose. East Cottage was just perfect. It had everything you could need, was immaculately clean and a wonderful place to come back to after a day exploring. Just outside Hawes it was not too far from shops and pubs etc but far enough away to be peaceful and a great place to rest and recharge. This holiday was just what we needed and to top it all off the weather was perfect too. I would definitely book with Sykes again. Thankyou

Wonderful week spent at East House.

Everything provided in the house is to a very high standard with a fully equipped kitchen, well appointed lounge and very comfy beds. Lovely little garden where we enjoyed sitting in the sun with our coffee watching the sheep and lambs. Great location for lots of walks right from the front door. Local pubs in Hawes and surrounding villages where able to cater for coeliac dinner without any problems. We will come back many times as there is so much to explore from this lovely house.
