    • Lianne - Verified booking

Superb accommodation but a couple of niggles.

The accommodation absolutely requires some sort of sofa and a small table for the bedroom and they need to ditch the 2 single chairs. The TV in the kitchen is displaced to where the table and chairs are and you get an awful stiff neck if you’re sitting watching the TV In the kitchen (maybe if it was smaller?) it’s not comfortable at all, so spent time watching TV in the bedroom, on the bed! 100 of needs a sofa. I also never got NETFLIX on the kitchen TV. Those were the only little niggles. The rest of the apartment was superb though with a state of the art washing machine etc. Fabulous shower and full size Fridge Freezer. Make sure to take screenshots of all the entry details for easy reach into the property. If I come back I’d not book this accommodation but another one and the same building with a sofa and wee table of some sort. Makes a hell of a difference if there was one. All in all very good. Oh and maybe an earlier check in would help as arrived into Newquay Airport at 11.00am so a lot of waiting around and SYKES wouldn’t budge even on a request for a possible early check in, unlike a lot of suppliers when you can request (but not guarantee) but they wouldn’t even attempt this. Maybe even offer it as an extra charge for early arrivals. Their reply to my request was quite curt.

      Everything was really great.

Everything was as advertised. The house is very nice and comfortable. It has everything you need. The kitchen is fantastically equipped. The washing machine is great, it has many programs, so it was possible to wash cost-effectively. There is a Slow-Cooker, Toaster, kettle, fridge with a small freezer compartment. Cleaning tools, such as a vacuum cleaner, which comes in handy if you come with two dogs and you need to clean up the sand brought from the beach. The bed is very comfortable and provides a relaxing sleep. Quiet neighborhood. The owners are very nice and friendly and helpful. It is absolutely not disturbing that they live in the house next door. Everything is very close if you want to go on a trip. The view is fantastic. My favorite is that I could watch the sunset from the sofa in the living room when it was a little cooler outside. All in all, this is the place you don't want to go home from and you will definitely come back.

What a stunning apartment, in a gorgeous location!

Everything was perfect. Top marks to Chris, the owner, for amazing attention to detail. Everything you need is provided and the coffee machine and shower deserve special mentions! Just wow! Beautiful Swanpool Lake and beach are on your doorstep and the private, enclosed garden was perfect for Ruby dog. We left the car behind some days and walked the coastal path into Falmouth/Pendennis Point/Maenporth beach amongst other places. The Trellowarren Arms does a fantastic Sunday lunch and we had a gorgeous meal at the Gylly Beach cafe, which we walked to several times from the apartment, along the coast path. So many little bays around the coast, with cafes, bars and toilets in each. We had the best week; the sun shone and the area is just beautiful. We will definitely be back.

So during my stay a numerous amount of issues happened some adhered too some just completely ignored.

Firstly there was no WiFi the whole time during my stay, I contacted them 3 times and to no reply other than an email asking me what do I mean when I say the WiFi isn't working in my hotel room. The car park gate was locked and didn't open on numerous times. Thus causing me and my partner to be stuck inside with no car and missing out on plans. The heating was stuck on and when asked for instructions they just said to look at the manual, the manual was no where to be seen. The cutlery was all dirty and the utensils were dirty The kettle has yellow limescale all over the bottom layer which is quite disgusting When pulling out the toaster there was numerous burnt crumbs stuck all over the top of the toaster And the shower was full of hair when first walking in.

Bright & airy flat in very central quiet location.

But, mug split from its base when making tea resulting in cascade of boiling water &scalding; of body! Not a good start...Snags included: bathroom door needs planing so it can open & close without forcing; erratic numbers of crockery so mug not the first casualty; full length mirror somewhere would be helpful. Heating control very complicated to adjust and no clarification re washing/ drying machine options ( so clothes ended up washed twice to get dry...). Also instructions (Covid- related?) sent in advance listed things to be brought which were in fact provided so luggage space wasted. Bin instructions also unclear. Possibly some issues of communication between standard Sykes Cottages generic info and info specific to the property?
