What our customers say about their holidays

What an amazing week weather-wise! Hot Hot Hot! Lucky the bedrooms downstairs keep nice and cool and the dog has been in the sea all week to cool down (and the kids). The salmon have been leaping in the river all week catching flies and the herons have been catching the salmon! Seals also in the river this week again. Coquet Shorebase Trust does a fabulous night time kayak river safari up the river where you can see all the wildlife – we missed it this week due to tides but the next one is around the 9th/10th August 2019 so worth giving them a call. Also paddle boarding with Amble Northside Surf Schoool. The Hermitage re-fit has done it a world of good – still a brewery owned pub so not as good range of ales etc as others (The Ship at Newton/Jolly Fisherman etc) and basic pub grub but they have updated the menu. The summer menu in The Mason’s Arms and the wood fired pizza oven and garden area is great – pizzas, nachos etc. We had a good meal at Seal & Soil in Amble, and the best meal is always at our favourite – The Old Boat House in Amble where Jemima has her favourite half lobster and chips, the rest of us go for specials board full of fish dishes. Book early through as they are always full. Even though it is the summer holidays, the beaches have still been peaceful – lots of good walks at Warkworth, Sugar Sands along to Craster, Embleton along to Newton etc. Enjoy!

The Bridge Barn is so beautiful! I am now going home to redecorate my house. I have fallen in love with this place and the surrounding areas and walks. The guys at Coquet Cottages have excelled themselves with before-arrival information, in-house amenities, assistance while here and the welcome pack for both us and our dog just make the welcome even more fabulous. Having used other cottage rentals in the past, Coquet Cottages have been 5* and I don’t think we will go anywhere else now as this has been the best weekend ever. Warkworth be prepared for seeing us a lot more in the future and we would recommend this area and your company to all of our friends and family. Only negative about the weekend is that we wish we could have stayed longer. Thank you to everyone involved in making this long overdue and needed weekend so wonderful.

Absolutely perfect Cottage for us and our two dogs. Greeted with a fabulous hamper full of luxurious basics – bread, butter, tea, coffee, milk then lots of treats – jam, chutney, apple juice, cheese, crackers, cookies, chocolate and more. In addition the dogs had their own hamper, brilliant. And all locally sourced in Northumberland. And a vase full of fresh flowers shows such attention to detail. The cottage was so comfortable and cosy with everything we needed. The bed was so comfy, we really relaxed and slept well. The bathroom was gorgeous. The dog safe garden was ideal. The team at Coquet Cottages are fantastic, communication is outstanding. They also send a brilliant app with great info from appliance instructions to recommendations for food, drinks, walks, places to visit etc. We will definitely be returning.

Slightly mixed weather but still some lovely days and will miss the views upstairs. We did lots of walks down at the beach and along the coats at Craster and Bamburgh. We would advise booking any meals as a lot of the places were already booked in advance. Bertram’s for dinner was very good and cant recommend the Lemon and Courgette cake enough. We brought crab from the quay in Amble which had a lovely fresh taste. Scotts of Alnmouth was great. There is also a good food hall on the outskirts of Alnwick town centre. We visited Howick Gardens and would highly recommend the place as it had wild but manicured gardens and we would advise to bring a picnic. There was lots of space quiet spots. The Rose Gardens are stunning. Thanks for a lovely stay as always.

This is our first trip to Northumberland and it is definitely worth the drive. The beaches are fantastic, so quiet and beautiful. We also did some paddle boarding on the river, we thought having this right on the doorstep was amazing. We ate out at The Masons Arms over the road, the pulled pork burger was the best. We also ate out at The Joly Fisherman and the Old Boathouse which did not disappoint, but booking is essential. We took a boat trip for Amble to see the Puffin sand seals and we also saw some seals on Holy Island. Knowing the tide times is important. The weather forecast was less important as Warkworth has its own little micro climate, it has been lovely all week. Fantastic stay, thank you and we will be back.
