What our customers say about their holidays

    • Kevin - Verified booking

Really enjoyed my stay at Mistletoe Cottage.

The property had everything I could require (with perhaps the exception of a “proper” oven) although this wasn’t a major problem. Considering the proximity of the property to two of Bamburgh’s most popular pubs, I was pleasantly surprised by the lack of noise. All furnishings were very comfortable, particularly the bed (I do like a firm bed and got one here – lovely!). A few more hangers in the wardrobe would have been appreciated, although again, this is a minor grumble, as there was lots of drawer space. Free parking in the village can be problematic, but obviously in a village as popular as Bamburgh you wouldn’t want it spoilt by masses of cars everywhere. If you do manage to secure a spot around “The Middle” (green space in the middle of the village) be aware that if you take your car out for the day you probably won’t get a space back before the evening. There is a pay and display car park beneath the Castle (NOT the Castle car park itself). Back to Mistletoe Cottage itself. It’s perfect base for couples or singles who wish to explore northern Northumberland. It was very clean and tidy had everything I really required, and because the cottage is detached you didn’t get disturbed by much in the way of noise. I loved Bamburgh, where everything is just a stones throw away. The beaches are stunning, the Castle, magnificent (can be seen quite clearly from the cottage) and I was very sorry that I had to leave at the end of my holiday.

This is a fabulous cottage. So cosy and comfortable and extremely well equipped. It has been decorated and furnished with a lot of thought and care. This was a cottage for 2 & near to Bamburgh, which is where we wanted to stay. Your website is one of the best. The 3D property images are fantastic in helping choice and suitability when booking. This cottage has been equipped with everything you could possibly want or need! The welcome basket was very welcome indeed. It had just the right items to provide a breakfast and some treats to start the holiday. Thankyou. We could not fault this cottage & therefore it is hard to say exactly what we liked best! It was tasteful decorated and extremely well furnished which is something we don’t want to compromise on when we go away. The heating worked well so it was always cosy and warm. This is the first time we have booked with Coquet Cottages and we have been very impressed with how we have been looked after from start to finish. From researching our holiday on the website, to receiving our joining instructions and a very nice courtesy call a week beforehand – everything has been clear and concise and very professional. We would happily book again and would definitely recommend your company. Thankyou.

This property is in a good location but unfortunately is poorly maintained and needs an update.

The kitchen sink tap wobbles and the cold water comes out of the hot water tap. The kitchen sink drain smelt terrible and on the second day of our stay we had to buy bleach to try and remove the smell (which returned later in our stay). On arrival I would expect washing up products to be made available especially since there is no dishwasher but we had to purchase products to wash up. The sofa in the lounge area is well past it’s sell by date and uncomfortable. We have stayed in self catering accommodation many times but this is the first time we have arrived somewhere and there wasn’t even a toilet roll in the bathroom. Bearing in mind the nearest shop is in Seahouses 3 - 4 miles away I feel this is unreasonable. The shower was adequate and provided plenty of hot water but the sealant round the bath was full of mould. Outside the front door of the property one of the paving stones was loose which could be dangerous to someone less steady on their feet. I would return to Bamburgh but not to this apartment.

We loved our stay at Mistletoe Cottage.

Although small, it is so well designed that it feels spacious and perfect for two. The place was immaculately clean and everything is top of the range. There's a fine view of Bamburgh Castle from the sofa, which tempted me out each morning to see the sunrise. Because the cottage is down a side street, there's little noise and we had no trouble parking further down the road, just past the permit holders' bays. There is only a small amount of outside space, but with the delights of Bamburgh on our doorstep and one of the best beaches in the world 5 minutes walk away, we didn't feel the lack. We can thoroughly recommend Mistletoe Cottage and also the Northumbrian weather. Five days of glorious sunshine at the end of October!

The bathroom door locking knob came away in my hand.

leaving me locked in the bathroom for 1hr 45 until the rest of the family returned from grocery shopping and could let me out! There is a dangerously faulty electric socket in bedroom 2 which is an obvious fire risk The general cleanliness was appalling: the dish washing bowl had a layer of mud on the inside which looked as though it had been used to wash muddy boots, all the cutlery & crockery were filthy. We have a dog and therefore are used to pet friendly rentals but the entire sofa was covered in a layer of white dog/cat fur such that we actually had to put covers on to protect our clothing. This is the dirtiest and most poorly maintained property we have ever rented.
