What our customers say about their holidays

Very disappointed and decided to leave 4 days into a 7 day stay.

Expectations were high and after unpacking and the dogs enjoying the garden we spent time looking around the lodge. Cleanliness was a major disappointment. We needed to wash glasses, plates and work surfaces due to a later of grease on them. A frying pan found was worse. The mop for the kitchen was still outside next to the wheelie bin. The bathroom had a mouldy shower mat, radiator thick with grime and dust and shower rail rusty. The bathroom shelf was also of no use as not fitted correctly. Upon looking at the double bed the mattress was just open foam with a topper on it. Also woken up at 6am daily from dogs barking at the owners house. We were expecting peace and tranquility. Toaster didn't work properly and due to the remote location a larger fridge and a useable freezer would have helped. Several items of food left in cupboards which can be a bonus however use by dates of Dec 2021 and Aug 2022 wasn't something that should be in the cupboards. Garden was great for the dogs.

I have a dog and my Auntie had a dog, but the overwhelming smell of dogs hit you as soon as you walk in the inner door.

The carpet in the Lounge had all bumps in it which was a trip hazard. The hob was dirty and greasy, when you took dishes out of cupboards the cupboards looked and smelled like it hadn’t been cleaned for a while. The double bed was not comfortable, the pillows did not smell nice. I slept out in our car from Saturday when we arrived until the Wednesday when we went home, because the weather was on the change and quite simply I had enough. If it wasn’t for the fact my Auntie had been shielded and was SO looking forward to the week away, we would of walked out on the first day. IN COVID TIMES I EXPECTED A LOT MORE, The place was full with books, dvd’s, maps, etc The curtain rail in the bathroom was rusty, there where no aids to help you in or out of the bath. The whole place was Very disappointing and not clean.

The welcome pack was lovely, thank you.

The owner made it very friendly for the dogs, and the dog toys and towels that were left were a fab idea, thank you. The bed was uncomfortable and was a cheap framed bed that was wobbly, did not feel safe sleeping in the bed so slept in the recliner chair in the lounge, which was the only comfy chair in the house. The sofas were uncomfy as no head or upper back support. Might was to get a better feather duster to reach those cob webs too. The hoover was not fit for purpose, the carpet looked worse after I hoovered. I have a long estate car so the gates on the drive would not close, therefore the front garden was not dog friendly. Could not park outside due to blocking field entrance. Could not park on road as single track road, and used by large lorries carry goods to build sea defences.

It was a magical holiday for me, my Dad and the Beagle Brothers!

Two 'Thank you' to Pam - 1. Thank you for letting us stay in Sunshine Lodge. It was a marvellous and peaceful stay... And, dog friendly in both gardens - fenced in! The Beagles can not escape! - Hurray! 2. The 'Welcome Pack' was lovely - al eaten by hoomans & Beagle Brothers! The flowers were delightful as well - more homely. A wonderful touch to an amazing vacation. The doggies loved it here - Stolford, nearly a mile to the beach. The first time on a beach for them - sniffing, playing, etc. The coastal path was lovely! Whether rain or shine, we all had to a wonderful stay! A place to explore! We went to Burham-on-Sea, Brean, Porlock, Lynton, Minehead, Watchet, Blue Anchor and Dunster Beach (The Beagle Brothers loved Dunster Beach & Brean - off the lead and having fun!)...

Lovely peaceful cottage and great enclosed garden to front and rear for the dog knowing she could not escape!

! lovely treats left for us by the owner and also lovely homemade doggy biscuits which were all very welcome. Great location for touring Somerset and beach not far away for the dog. I would avoid the walk to Stolford beach though as very muddy and my springer need a big bath on returning!! The weather was great so were out and about - Kilve beach good at high tide as very pebbly but there is a small lagoon bit if tide out for the dog to swim. Minehead and Watchet nice places and good fish and chips in Minehead. willows and wetlands centre near Yeovil great place on Somerset levels also very dog friendly. All in all a lovely two weeks spent at Sunshine Lodge. Only downside was no WIFI to check postcodes for places to visit and details of places and my data was limited!!
