A very enjoyable stay, we have stayed here before, albeit some years ago. I did not give it 5 stars as I thought there were some cleaning and maintenance issues about the property. The cottage was well equipped especially the kitchen. On first sight the cottage was clean, however it needed a thorough deep clean - in particular the carpets were very stained (especially the stair carpet) and the skirting boards and the windowsills had not been cleaned for a long time. One night it rained and knowing a window was open upstairs I went to close it. A little rain had come in, so I wiped the rain drops up, the cloth I used to dry was very dirty after wiping the window ledge and sill. Also there did not appear to be any bins for recycling. As a general point the welcome hampers seemed to have been reduced from what I remember from previous visits to RR cottages over many years. Bread, butter, flowers, eggs for example do not appear to be included any more - nice little touches that set RR apart from other companies.

Immaculate cottage with an extensive range of kitchen utensils. There was everything you needed to cook a simple meal through to an elaborate one. The decor was wonderfully simple and yet the cottage had a homely feel to it with some appropriate ornaments. Lovely quiet location with stunning views. It’s ideal placed for walking along the coast to either Ramsgate or Margate because the cottage is only 300 yards from the coast path. There is a near by sandy beach which you can walk to and there is a nice pub only approx 0.75 miles away. The garden furniture was lovely and in warm weather it would be amazing to sit on the lawn and enjoy an evening meal outdoors watching the setting sun. Many thanks to Louise for the care and attention she takes in preparing the cottage and for the amazing Welcome Hamper filled with many tasty items. We can’t wait to return to this cottage.

The cottage was lovely and in the most beautiful spot. If you were staying here during the summer (not Nov like us) the extensive garden with wonderful views would be fabulous. The Welcome hamper was a real treat and having fresh milk, tea and coffee waiting for you when you arrived.......not to mention all the naughty but very very nice treats.....marvellous!!! The only criticisms would be that the lounge furniture is far to big for the room so if there were 4 of you two people would not be able to sit and watch the TV; the TV was tuned to East Anglia and with the note about the signal we didn't like to change it; a second TV would have been appreciated in the bedroom; and the bathroom is getting rather tired with chipped enamel and rust showing on the bath and around the shower controls.

Clean, well-appointed cottage with a very efficient and helpful housekeeper. Not huge, but perfect for two adults and two young children. Quiet and peaceful, but close to many facilities in the growing towns of Ramsgate and Broadstairs and 5-minute walk away to a lovely sandy beach at Joss Bay. Great being able to see the sea from the bedrooms and kitchen. The only negative was the slow and limited internet (as noted in advance by Rural Retreats), which was surprising, given that you are not especially remote. Fine if you want to get away from it all and your kids still play with Lego!

The cottage was very clean, warm, very comfortable and the welcome hamper was generous. It was good to have Louise on the touchline and she was very helpful and made us feel welcome. The westher was dire, but that was not the fault of Rural Retreats! Our only reservation was thst the dining table was too high for the chsirs. Msybe one of them could be lifted or made lower. The beds were comfortable and the fire in the sitting room was lovely on a freezing evening. We loved stsying there and so msny thanks.
