What our customers say about their holidays

    • Charlotte - Verified booking

General feedback is that it’s a lovely property but not very well maintained unfortunately.

We had a lovely week but I wouldn’t return unless some of the issues listed below are fixed. I really hope they do address the issues as the house is a lovely layout & could be amazing. Property had been cleaned between visits and sheets were fresh but some of the maintenance/ quality issues (to name a few!): 1) property not deep cleaned. Under cooker was dirty, radios on shelves thick with stickiness and dust, curtain pull chords black with dirt, shower silicon/edge of trays dirty. Sofa dirty & discoloured. 2) maintenance issues; broken safety latch on upstairs window (which meant we couldn’t have our daughters bedroom window left open in the heat!). Loose toilet roll holders in every showerroom, sofa arm completely caved in on one of the sofas, coffee table legs bent, loose tile downstairs on the hallway, utility room was just a mess (broken clothes airer left mangled in there, mop was disgusting, room was generally dirty). Downstairs shower room/wet room drainage was backing up & there’s only one drain in the whole room which means water goes everywhere and you need to sweep it back to the drain. 3) General things that made the house feel a bit tatty & not well maintained: decorative cushions were dirty and tatty, all the glasses were mismatched (and we found a broken one in the cupboard). Cutlery, pots and pans provided were all mismatched and tarnished and old. Looks like a collection of random things people had just left behind. All the knifes had tarnished rust spots on. Cleaning products weren’t new /replenished for our visit; eg, the dish clothes were clearly not new, only a little bit of cleaning spray and washing up liquid available, no kitchen roll. Towels had seen better days and there were no spares provided which would have been helpful for a weeks stay. Cushions on outside furniture off lounge was mismatched on one side and missing from the other. Good things: Well located. Good selection of TV apps which is really helpful with the little ones. General cleaning had clearly been done (it’s just the deep clean elements had been missed). We loved the layout (two families sharing so each had our own floor which was great - don’t often find this layout!

On arrival it was a struggle to open the main door.

When entering we had noticed lack of cleanliness windows were all smudged and marked mirrors were also dirty too, cobwebs found everywhere. The downstairs toilet light was constantly flickering when using it. The upstairs landing light also flickered, the master bedroom main light was not working at all (but got replaced when got in touch with maintenance), the main bathroom had broken floor tiles, the second set of double doors in the living area was a wrestling match to open close and lock so we didnt open them again, there was a chip on the hob in the kitchen, all the lamp shades need cleaning or replacing as they were dirty, the hot tub cover was covered in bird droppings which had not been cleaned in a while, they had used slate surroundings the area so be aware that you'll need some foot wear getting in and out of the hot tub, I'd also recommend an umbrella whilst in the hotub to avoid getting bird dropping on you. It should really have a canopy over it like one of the neighbouring hottubs has. Could do with replacing sofas badly worn and sunken and lingering smell off dog ( which i understand it was a pet friendly accomadation but could be cleaned properly) there are some good poits though, the beds were comfy the hotub it self was nice, when your not getting bird droppings on you, the showers in bath main bathroom and ensuite were good. The wifi helped alot as it is a complete signal deadspot, plenty of cutlery and crockery provided. We would stay again if a few upgrades and general maintenance were done. We paid 850 for the week and although was cheap for the accommodation you can see why it was cheap.

It was mentioned in the listing that there would be a swimming pool on site however that was not the case as when we got there some people said it was a plan about 5years ago and not got pushed any further.

Also the cleanliness of the house was not great, there was cobwebs everywhere, inches of dust on top of wardrobes and on blinds etc. Hence all the cobwebs there were loads of spiders crawling about which is understandable because of the season changes but for the amount there was it was not nice and comfortable to sleep with. Speaking of comfort, the beds and pillows were ridiculous, I had 4 pillows to myself but felt like I had 1, I’ve got chronic back pain originally and so has my mum who has got a medical condition where her back needs to be risen and we were both in so much discomfort due to the pillows being so flat. The mattress itself was average, no life or bounce to it. We had a maintenance man come out as I went to put the heating on in my room, as soon as I did I could smell gas. My mum said it’s probably just dust I can smell, as she went to check behind the radiator, the whole radiator fell off the wall and was hanging on by tiny temporary screws. Immediately turned the radiator off, took pictures and sent them straight to the people in charge. Few hours later they sent out that maintenance man who fixed it straight away but mentioned the mattresses hadn’t been changed in over 11years, when the site first ever opened?? Besides all that, had a great stay, liked how big and spacious the place was along with the fact that they provided a smart TV where you could watch Netflix, Disney etc.

The little beach cabin on the whole is a really lovely place, the location is absolutely perfect and great for exploring the beautiful beaches and walks on offer.

The bed and sofa are really comfortable and the log fire is great for those cosy nights in. There were a couple of things that sadly let it down, when I booked in April the property was listed as having a washing machine which I can since see another reviewer has mentioned, I specifically checked this as staying for ten nights felt one was needed, when we arrived the welcome pack said the washing machine and dryer could be found in the utility room. We couldn’t find this utility room at all and upon checking with property management were informed there wasn’t one. This was disappointing as we had packed lightly thinking we could wash our clothes half way through the stay. The other issue which did impact our stay was the blind to the French doors, it is not fitted correctly and was not working and it fell down on our first night. This really impacted our sleep as the light was so bright in the mornings to the bedroom. Property management did come out to put in a temporary fix however it took them a few days to arrive so our first five mornings were disturbed, not ideal as we had really wanted to use this time to rest well and not be up at 6.30am for half of the holiday. Other than those issues this was a really lovely holiday and crantock is well worth the visit for peace and tranquility!

Overall, the property was quite excellently presented, it was clean, warm and welcoming when we arrived.

The hamper of goodies was particularly interesting, the bed was incredibly comfortable and the bathroom was neat and inviting. Tanya was most welcoming in her texts, and made sure we were settled in and was able to offer advice via text when we needed help. Without wishing to complain, we both are pensioners and found the sofas in the living room far too low and without adequate back support, but I think that is an 'us' problem more than a 'you' problem. My laptop was unable to link to the hub, although our iPads and phones linked ok. For some reason we could only watch you tube on the tv in the lounge, and could not get anything to link and work on the bedroom tv. I am computer literate and can manage most modern technology, so I am not sure what the issue was. I would like to repeat that we had a fabulous time staying at 15 The Moors, and would like to return in the future. Five stars, recommended.
