No trip to Cornwall is complete without sampling some of the legendary delicacies. First created in 1890, Cornish clotted cream is a delicious and indulgent treat. Enjoy a classic Cornish cream tea with lashings of the stuff! You'll also want to indulge in one (or several) Cornish pasties. Once the packed lunch of choice of Cornish tin miners, the national dish is stuffed with veg and meat, all perfectly enclosed in pastry.

Of course, if you're heading to Cornwall then you'll be spoilt for choice when it comes to beaches. Cornwall is home to maybe the most incredible coast in England. Wherever you base your Cornwall break, you'll be driving distance from at least one beautiful beach, and a cracking coast view that'll make snapping perfect pics almost too easy.

Historic St. Agnes is nestled on the coast of North Cornwall and boasts sandy beaches and scenic coastal paths. This Area of Outstanding Beauty is definitely one to add to your itinerary. Or why not head to the epic coastlines of Crantock Beach and have fun exploring the caves and amazing sand dunes? Holywell Bay is another beach to visit if you're a fan of dramatic coasts. It also has a stunning beach and pretty offshore islands.

If you're visiting Cornwall for a family holiday, you won't be short of brilliant family-friendly attractions. Visit the famous Eden Project and get lost in the wonders of nature, meet the wild residents of Newquay Zoo, climb aboard a steam train at Lappa Valley Steam Railway, or just enjoy time together splashing in the sea, slurping ice cream, indulging in fish and chips, and making memories.

What our customers say about their holidays

    • Gof - Verified booking

We have stayed at numerous properties and this could be the worst.

On our first evening the TV failed with a bang. Richard was really helpful and arranged for a replacement. No problem there but many issues with fitments and general presentation of the property. The main door is weak and an intruder could easily gain access. Very poor security. Two bathrooms are listed. The downstairs has a hand basin and toilet. Carpeted floor with no pedestal mat. Not hygienic. The upstairs shower is desperately small and barely adequate. Heating is by night storage heaters. These are rusty and in generally poor condition. Not a good way to heat a property, particularly at this time of year when temperatures varied from quite hot to cold. All electrical appliances have inspection dates of 2017 and are cheap quality. The kettle, for instance, only worked at times if the switch was held down. Some of the plates were chipped. Cutlery was limited. A poor selection of ill sorted items. Only four table knives for instance. Certain items missing, such as a fish slice. Old cracked non stick coated frypan. Generally poorly equipped. Table too small to spread a newspaper. Two very rickety chairs. Lighting too dim to read by. No surface to put anything down other than window sills. A coffee table would have helped considerably. Little storage space in the bedroom. Two small bedside cabinets. A small desk with three drawers. A small child sized wardrobe. All looked like random charity shop purchases. No 'welcome pack' with details of nearest doctors, refuse arrangements and so on. Some of the equipment leaflets applied to items which were no longer there. Overall, very disappointing and we were pleased to be able to leave. The low rating in the recommending category is down to the almost unreadable booking details. Certainly a format that does not work with Apple computers.

Our booked six night stay consisted of one night before we gave the keys back and found somewhere else to stay.

In 25 years of renting holiday cottages, this was by far the worst. Spartan, poorly equipped, no room whatsoever, no storage space and what we believed to be us having the run of a large garden (as the photos depicted) for our two spaniels, we had a 12 x 12ft patch of grass. The tv is at a 45 degree angle to the settee, so you had to crane your neck to watch it. No net curtains so no privacy. A kitchen without a cooker, draining board or washing machine, the latter essential for a cottage that's supposedly dog friendly. As for the front door..... We were told NOT to turn the car around using the property opposite's drive which necessitated reversing down the narrow lane to get out, no mention of this when we booked. Presumably the cottage owners and the neighbour don't get on? The directions to the place weren't even accurate. If this place WAS converted from a barn, I can only assume that the barn was more comfortable. When we departed on the Sunday morning, the owners weren't in, so I texted them to say we'd left the place and to let them know where we'd left the key. Several hours later they replied to say, "oh dear, thanks for letting us know, we hope you find something more suited to your needs". No apology, no " what could we have done to make your stay better?", essentially, " thanks for your £400, 'bye". I just can't believe the glowing reviews for this place, people must have very low expectations. We will NEVER book through you again, a complete and utter disappointment. Yours sincerely Graham & Caroline Brown

What a unique and very special property Oakenhurst is!

We had a lovely stay for 2 weeks in November (2023). We were lucky enough to have some sunny days, and the views out across the river are just amazing. It was so relaxing just sitting watching the boats, canoes, and wildlife go by! We were really warm and cosy inside during the evenings, and on the days when the weather was a bit grim. The bedroom in the sail loft is also lovely and cosy. We prefer to visit Cornwall out of season as it is quieter, and Oakenhurst is the perfect property if you like peace and tranquillity, but still want easy access to everything. We would also highly recommend a visit to the Fisherman's Arms, which is a 2 minute walk away, and does excellent food all year round. The train does not disturb at all - in the 2 weeks we stayed, it only went past twice (both times during the day), and it is very slow as it only carries china clay. The only suggestion we would make, is to take a trolley for luggage and shopping (we took a festival trolley) as there is a short (less than a minute) sloped walk from the car park to Oakenhurst. Loading everything in the trolley cuts down on journeys to and from the car! All in all, we loved our stay in this special property and hope to return soon!

To be honest, after reading a review posted a week or two before our arrival, we did wonder what we would find.

As is usual, during our research when booking a holiday we had scrutinised the photos on Sykes' website and thought we had a fair idea of what to expect. We are glad to report there are no hidden horrors and all was as expected. After driving along a woodland drive carpeted with bluebells, red campion, cow parsley and so much more, we found the property set in a secluded corner of the 14 acre estate (which has mown paths around the field edges and pond for you to wander and explore - great for a dog walk in the evening after a day out). It was beautifully warm, clean and comfortable. It suited us and our dog perfectly. The whole area is criss-crossed with ancient public footpaths which lead to little villages and coast paths. There is a lovely track which starts just down the hill (to the right) from the property which will take you to Mullion village (c 1 mile). It was the perfect property for our break and without doubt we would go again. (PS. Perhaps if the author of the rotten review had researched he would have found fewer 'surprises' and maybe consider his manners and address petty issues direct with the host) "

We had a very relaxing time at Higher Lampra.

.. beautiful old upside down cottage set in tranquil, private surroundings. It was lovely coming back to it after a trip out and driving down the lane with stunning wildflower hedgerows. The cottage is warm and cosy, nicely furnished and with great views of the surrounding countryside. Although small, the kitchen is well appointed which was important for us as the evenings were too cold to sit outside at a restaurant so we self-catered. Lots of information is supplied for trips out and a selection of videos for evenings in.The cottage is nicely placed for exploring the tip of Cornwall and also has lots of public footpaths around it if you don't feel like getting in your car. The family who run it are very friendly and keen to make sure everything is as you want it. It really felt like home for two weeks, we didn't want to leave and we would love to go back sometime.
