What our customers say about their holidays

    • Helen - Verified booking

Unfortunately, we felt very disappointed with the stay and left after 5 nights in the property, having paid for 7.

We drove 7hours to get to the property and having stayed in many local self-catering homes within Port Issac, found it a shame that a welcome package was not offered, as all of the other properties we had stayed in offered one, that were also self-catering. On arrival, we were shocked to find that the cul-de-sac, the property dwelled within, was not as aesthetically pleasing, as we'd been led to believe and realised now, this is why you cannot see pictures of the front of the property. For us, it felt like a set of caravan esc homes than many other homes listed within the area. For the extremely high cost to rent the property for a week (July), we were not informed that this particular cul-de-sac housed a large collection of seagulls, which are protected animals. Thus realising during our stay that they housed themselves on the roof of the property. The noise of the constant squawk (day and night) along with the movement on the roof meant we managed very little sleep and therefore decided to vacate the property earlier than we had planned. Not forgetting, your car will be destroyed by the seagulls excrement. Positives for this property are that it has been done up well inside by the owner and was mostly clean throughout. The car parking space was small and directly outside the property, meaning that you saw your car outside the front windows but this did not bother us as much as the seagulls did. We therefore would not recommend this property and would not stay ourselves in this property again.

The photographs do not indicate the small size of the flat.

Anyone over 4.5 foot tall will bang their head in the premises. The sloping ceilings reduce the effective size of the rooms. I am 6 foot and could not get close enough to the kitchen sink to wash up. To do this I needed to twist my body so my head fitted into the roof light well. The same situation exists in the WC. I had to sit on the toilet to pee because of the slope of the roof. The bathroom sloping ceiling means the shower is almost un-usable. the shower curtain does nothing to stop the water soaking the floor. There are no views from the premises via windows only roof lights. Good for me on tip toe but no good for my wife. There is no patio garden! there are 2 rusty chairs at the top of the stairs with not enough room to use them and some pot plants on the roof of the adjacent building. The alleged patio area is in shade and breezy in the evening. We felt uncomfortable because the flat overlooks the owners pool and hot tub. The owner uses the ground floor as a workshop and starts DIY at 08:00 which was a rude awakening at the time. All in all not up to the standard we have come to expect from your description and definitely not worth the money paid. We will not use this premises again and will look a lot more closely at your descriptions before booking. I suggest you send a representative along to check out the premises and experience it before writing another description.

The cottage is very well fitted out and has good facilities - especially if it is for two people visiting.

It is decorated to a very high standard. Its position makes access to the centre of Port Isaac very easy. Parking is not that easy unless you have a very small car. Some thoughts for improvements: a recycling bin in the kitchen - There is only one bin, which means that everything goes into it. Whilst there is a recycling bin outside, it makes life too difficult to separate and keep piles of rubbish in the kitchen ; Despite there being comments on the listing previously about the lack of information with regards the heating and water heating, there is still no information available. When we were on our break, it was cold and we needed to turn heating on and up. This proved very frustrating. Also, the hot water tank is quite small, especially if there were four people staying in the cottage ; No Cafetière - This would be a useful addition ; The time of access and departure does make it quite frustrating. Only being allowed into the cottage at 4 o’clock on the day of booking means that you cannot make best use of the facilities and area. And having to leave at 9 am makes it a very rushed departure. Given that these conditions were probably brought in during Covid, as a holiday management team, you should look at these timings. We would not book a cottage again with such restrictive access. Thank you.

We really enjoyed our stay and would not hesitate to return.

A little feedback from us: We took our 73 year old Mum who found the stairs challenging. A handrail or grab rail at the top would have really assisted. Overall it was really clean until you clocked thick dust to the frame on the picture above the bed and very dusty skirting boards. The wooden beams were also very cob-webby. Lastly, it states that fuel is included and yet there were no logs left for the Woodburner. Whilst we personally would not expect a weeks worth of logs to be provided, it would have been a nice touch to have at least left a few so that we could have had a little fire when we arrived late on a November evening. Especially as downstairs the only hearing source is the log burner, apart from a small plug in heater. Perhaps worth making the stairs and the fuel provided clearer on the Cottages description. As we say though, wouldn't hesitate to return, these points are just small issues. Thank you for a great stay.

Lovely cottage, absolutely spotlessly clean on arrival.

Thoughtful touches of a goody bag of treats for us and treats for our Westie. Everything you could need for a self catering holiday but there are a few things which could be improved upon. Not enough hanging space for clothes and the size of the drawers in the chest of drawers in the bedrooms were not of a good size for storing clothes in. Only good enough for socks, underwear etc. Internal doors need oiling as very squeaky. Nowhere in bathroom to place items. Didn’t really want to place them on the toilet and surrounding area. Not very hygienic. Just a couple of extra shelves would be great. Wash basin was way too small as you could not fill it with a lot of water as it spilt over the side and onto the floor. Boiler system noisy. Would recommend family and friends to stay here without any doubt. Treesoth Cottages is a great location very quiet and peaceful and ideally located for visiting other areas in Cornwall.
