What our customers say about their holidays

    • John - Verified booking

Blueberry cottage is very nice, well maintained and modern, warm, good facilities, enjoyable place to stay.

The location, almost equidistant between Weymouth and Dorchester and in a quiet village is excellent. On the downside, car parking is a problem. There is no designated parking spot for the cottage and the locals are extremely possessive of any spaces going, including in front of the cottage itself. We parked as far as 200 yards away opposite the village pub. A minor problem concerns the loo which is on the ground floor off the kitchen. Navigating steep stairs from the bedroom in the night to visit the loo is not ideal. Almost reminds me of early years, at least this loo is inside! On a wider issue, why do Sykes insist on Friday to Friday lettings? Friday is the worst day of the week for road travel. Arriving on holiday in an unfamiliar place fraught from Friday travel is not the best start to a holiday. We use other holiday cottage agencies who are happy with Saturday to Saturday lettings and I'm afraid whilst Sykes continue with this Friday to Friday situation, we shall prioritise those other agencies for cottage bookings.

We really liked the cottage, well described and perfect for what we needed.

The beds were comfy and the kitchen was wet equipped. Unfortunately, the cleaning wasn't the best and it could do with a proper deep clean rather than the surface type clean that was done for our arrival. The kettle had an enormous amount of limescale build up and desperately needs cleaning. The electric fire didn't work which would have helped keep the downstairs warm as it got quite chilly of an evening. The parking space is very small, you have to unload people and things before you park as there's no room to get out, we do have a big vehicle though. The neighbours didn't like us doing this and commented to us which made us feel like we were upsetting them or doing something we shouldn't. We also would have appreciated being told before booking that there was cctv, we noticed a camera half way through our stay. Generally it was really nice although slightly let down by a few things that could easily be resolved with a little care.

Sofa bed is absolutely disgusting and filthy!

No plug in kitchen sink, bath plug is broken bedroom with pull out bed isn't level very uncomfortable.problems with the heating, cooker tried using the oven turned it on after 15 minute's was just blowing cold air so didn't work.you could mention also the stairs outside the property as we had a double buggy for our two todlers had to pick up buggy each time goin in and out the front door suggest you mention its not suitable for other people with double buggy.back door in conservatory the water was pooring in threw bottom of door when rained.the stair gate you supplied you didn't even leave the tool to tighten the bolts and adjust it to the door frame so couldn't even close the stair gate had to place bedside table in front of the gate we had this left for us previous when stayed with you at another property.this time was by far the worst stay we ha e experienced.i have also sent pictures of the sofa stair gate ect ect

Hi I do not normally leave reviews however you sent an email asking for feedback.

If I were to rate the holiday for your initial service before our holiday and location of the cottage it would be 4 or 5 stars however the cottage its self has a few issues. I was fully expecting a small dated cottage you can see that from the pictures. Unfortunately I would only give the cottage 2 stars. Its location is excellent but it was let down by some maintenance and cleaning issues, listed below. Front door lock very difficult to lock on leaving the cottage. Cracked peeling plaster by front door. Poorly fitting bath panel. Steps to patio area uneven heights, patio area its self in poor repair. But the worst of all was the lean too conservatory which looked like it had not been cleaned in months if not years. I will email photos if required. We loved our visit to Weymouth and are thinking of returning later this year, however we will not be booking this cottage again.

We really enjoyed our stay at Guinea Cottage.

It was clean and comfortable and well equipped and there is tea and coffee, sugar and biscuits to start you off, but do remember to take some salt & Pepper and sauce and vinigar if your eating in!. The sette and chairs were comfy which makes a nice change from elsewhere I have stayed and I didn;t want to get out of the double bed it was so comfy. The bed linen was of good quality and smelled lovely and fresh. It was really handy for the park up the road for walking the dog and the sea is literally around the corner and close to the shops and bars and harbour all within easy reach, just a 3 minute walk. I've never been to Weymouth before but I would definately return. Some really great places to visit close to hand, Durdle Door is a must and Porland beach gives some fantasic views of chisil beach on the way back. Stayed September 2015
